Hello, welcome to a personal project of many months.

All Pages linked below contain some tie-in to the Void in some way, be it by being a MA/FA, directly relating to the Void & the Veil, or otherwise fundamental to the ecosystem of Voidal Casting. All in All, there are 56 currently accepted forum posts on Voidal Lore scattered across the forums, and nowhere to view them all in one place. Obviously, if you want to understand the lore you should read the hyperlinked piece in detail, but I’ve added footnotes for a brief overview.

Forewarning: Guide posts are heavily outdated as of the posting of this and likely will not be updated for some time. They tend to be missing some spells, though they do include example spells. If you really want to understand the lore, it’s best to just read the lore post itself and ask someone with a MA in it. Additionally, ST may deem some lore pages as “inaccurate” that are currently accepted. Finally, this is an OOC resource - please do not refer to this IRPly. If you believe I am missing a page or have incorrectly summarized one, please let me know!

Posts are hyperlinked, and formatted by Date of Submission | Date of Acceptance. Rare Knowledge requires a Mage be taught the process in a particular manner, while Open/Common Knowledge means any Mage can undertake the process if they discover the process on their own. If you would like an accurate record of Voidal Lore/Voidal MArt submissions, let me know!

Voidal Magics and Feats

The single most interacted with part of Voidal Lore, containing the MAs and FAs of Voidal Lore. There are 8 MAs (and guides) and 6 FAs (and 5 guides) as well as two stand alone lore pieces for a grand total of 29 posts on Voidal Magic and Feats.

Spoiler

The Voidal Connection (January 20th, 2021) | (March 22nd, 2021)

The core post on Voidal Magic, dictating how the common Voidal Magic progressions through Voidal Poisoning (the affliction that deprives them over their strength over 2 OOC months and for as long as they remain connected), the strength of their connection, and the other core mechanics of Voidal Magic of which the Feats expand off of or outright break from the mold. Worth noting, Voidal Magic by itself does not taint the soul or bleed excessive amounts of mana and thus cannot be detected by magics or items that measure it, such as Shamanism, Arcana-View googles, darkspawn testing, or similar methods. A mage is subject to the progression, mechanics, and redlines described under the Voidal Connection from the moment they acquire their first Voidal MA until they drop all Voidal MAs.

Voidal Rituals (April 29th, 2020) | (July 9th, 2020)

A pair of rituals all Voidal Magi are capable of performing, both involving sketching a circle out of focus crystal dust into the ground around a central point, of which one mage enters while others place their hands onto the dust circle to channel their mana into the leading mage. The Empowering circling allows a mage to empower a circle spells, enabling a spell to surpass what a single mage could achieve - while the Infusion circle allows the creation of MArts through the leading mage channels the circle’s mana into an object.

Magics

The foundation of all Voidal Magic - to be deemed a mage and partake in most Voidal activities, a character needs at least 1 accepted Voidal MA. Currently, there are 8 Voidal Magics with varying combative and non-combative applications.

Feats

The next step up from the Voidal Magics - Voidal Feats require a mage to hold 3 active Voidal MAs, and typically have their own ritual and requirements in order to be taken on. Currently, there are 6 Voidal Feats - 4 of which are exclusive and cannot be held with one another, and 2 of which can be freely held with any of the other feats.

Spoiler

Voidstalking (January 6th, 2021) | (February 28th, 2021)

Guide

Exclusive with Voidal Eminence, Voidal Artificery, and Arcane Scion - Voidstalkers tear open their Voidal Connection to the Void, allowing themselves a deepened connection at the cost of further weakness, a tainted soul, and insanity, for the descendant mind was never meant for such closeness to the infinity beyond the Veil. Voidstalkers are often gripped by false prophecy, worsened should they choose to invite a guest from beyond into their minds. In return they find themselves a walking obelisk, with all the benefits of, capable of casting an additional set of spells aimed at briefly inflicting the misery of their own existence onto others.

Voidal Eminence (January 6th, 2021) | (February 25th, 2021)

Guide

Exclusive with Voidstalking, Voidal Artificery, and Arcane Scion - Voidal Eminence bind themselves to an item of importance to themselves, deemed an Affection. These Archmages are typically arrogant and self-absorbed, full of grandeur and a high regard for themselves. Equally, they cast spells with a unique style - the more spells a Eminant casts, the more into a flow they enter, becoming harder to disrupt and enabling they to cast faster at its zenith. An Eminant also bears a more open mind - more aware of their own surroundings, and capable of sacrificing their Learned Magnum Opus slot to forge a second Magnum Opus of their own, for as long as they remain a unhumble Eminant.

Voidal Artificery (January 6th, 2021) | (February 25th, 2021)

Guide

Exclusive with Voidstalking, Voidal Eminence, and Arcane Scion - Artificers forge a paradoxical creation, known as a Masterwork. Through this, Artificers are capable of imbuing a limited consciousness into being, and imbuing wonder into the world around them. Likewise, Artificers tend to be upbeat, and positive - always creating, and always helpful. At their most capable, a Artificer can utilize Voidal Feeling like a mastered Transfigurationist, and produce Enchantments with ease. They may also utilize their desire to create in a more unbound manner, to ease the creation of Voidal MArts.

Arcane Scion (July 30th, 2021) | (November 8th, 2021)

Guide

Exclusive with Voidstalking, Voidal Eminence, and Voidal Artificery - The Arcane Scion stands apart, as a spellblade. A Scion is made by partially sealing the Voidal Connection, allowing a mage to regain the peak strength of the race, at the cost of a limited capacity to spellcast, and eventually a tainted soul. A Scion, as a result of this process, finds their rational mind moments behind their natural instincts - causing them to struggle with their identity. A curious by-product of this ritual is that a Scion’s soul begins to distance itself from their body - while this causes the scion to grow weak to things that interact with the soul, as they force the distanced soul to briefly rejoin with the body in a agonizing process, it otherwise can be utilized as a weapon. A Scion stands apart as a martial mage, capable of wielding blade and armor much heavier then their spellcasting kind could ever hope.

Veil Watching (May 18th, 2022) | (June 27th, 2022)

Guide

Compatible with all other Feats - a Veil Watcher is denoted by the presence of Link within the eyes, forged by pouring Mana into the eyes of a mage to bind them to the Veil. These mages are constantly harassed by the entities beyond the Veil that seek its fracturing, plagued with delusions and hallucinations. A Veil Watcher’s Link to the veil allows them to witness visions pertaining to its integrity and suffering, as well as observing it in their sleep in lieu of dreams - though this Link leaves them vulnerable, as Horrors that find them can invade their mind through the very same Link.

Atronach Forging (December 15th, 2019) | (April 28th, 2020)

Compatible with all other Feats, only requiring 1 slot dedicated to Voidal Magic, Atronach Forging is a simpler practice with more nuanced outputs. Through the combination of Transfiguration, a Voidal Magic, and the art of Atronach Forging, a mage can create various items - ranging from limbs and tiny drones, to fully autonomous and sentient constructs of Arcana, known as Atronachs.

World Lore & The Void

These 17 posts contain Lore that pertains to the Void in various ways - from Space and the Veil, to Magegold and the Yisar, the Void influences the Material World in a multitude of ways and with a range of permanence.

Spoiler

General Cosmology (October 27th, 2024)

Describes how the Sun, Stars [Other Planes], Veil and Material Plane interact. Most, if not all of this is not known or well known in its entirety.

Event Locations

Locations that cannot be made by players hands directly, these exist as a direct consequence of meddling with the infinite Void, or pure chance of a happening of Voidal Energies upon the Material.

Spoiler

Voidal Heaths (February 14th, 2020) | (February 14th, 2020)

Voidal Heaths are sections of land that are converted by the existence of a Monolith within their center, and are determined by the environment and magics supplied. These provide a benefit to mages in some ritual activities, but are dangerous in how chaotic the environment becomes.

Voidal Monoliths (February 14th, 2020) | (February 14th, 2020)

Voidal Monoliths are true Obelisks of the Void itself, and simply appear across various planes at random intervals - if such occurs on the Material Plane, it creates a Voidal Heath around it.

Voidal Hollows (August 26th, 2021) | (August 26th, 2021)

The result of any massive amount of magic going haywire - typically, the destruction of T3 and T4 Voidal Tears - Hollows are a fracturing of the laws of reality as the land is utterly wiped of character and drowned in magic energies. Creatures and Horrors unknown lurk within, magic and mages behave abnormally, and their centers are entirely unknown.

Materials

These Metals, Gemstones, and even Herbs offer a various range of Benefits to Voidal Magi, or are directly created as a byproduct of Voidal Activities. Most are capable of being directly made by players, though some prerequisite other Voidal occurrences to be gathered or made.

Spoiler

Manite (August 26th, 2021) | (August 26th, 2021)

Manite is made of the ground within a Hollow, and has a varying appearance depending upon the Hollow. Most notably, a Transfigurationist may alter the properties of Manite through Transmutation freely, defying the laws of reality.

Magegold (Arcaurum) (November 11th, 2020) | (November 27th, 2020)

Arcaurum, more commonly referred to as Magegold, is a gold-appearing metal that is weaker then Aurum but capable of serving as a conduit for Voidal Energies. Most commonly used to channel Arcana from place to place, or in the creation of Arcane Foci

Arcanium (March 6th, 2020) | (April 11th, 2020)

Arcanium is created through heating steel and quenching it with an excess of Arcana, a variable process that is more likely to succeed if the volume of Arcana is larger. Arcanium bears properties akin to Steel in strength and durability with additional benefits and banes; a crippling weakness to Voidal Abjuration, the benefits of a Arcane Foci, and the Magical Potency of a T5 Voidal Spell, allowing it to act as a effective counter to anything weak to Void Magic and Thanium. Creating Arcanium is Rare Knowledge

Focus Crystals (May 12th, 2020) | (June 5th, 2020)

Focus Crystals, like Magegold, permit the conducting of Voidal Energy once refined and are commonly used in Arcane Foci. Additionally, they can be consumed by a mage to gain the same benefits, at the cost of Foci Taint; the manifestations of the consumed Crystal throughout the body.

Quietus Crystal (January 12th, 2021) | (January 12th, 2021)

Another Crystal typically used in the creation of Arcane Foci, though unable to be consumed like Focus Crystals. When used in spellcasting, it colors the casted spell a vibrant red hue, regardless of the particular Voidal Magic cast.

Titan’s Eye (January 12th, 2021) | (January 12th, 2021)

Titan’s Eye is an occurrence of Adfectio Stone, though with an inverse property;  instead of reflecting the holder’s emotional state when refined, they are capable of influencing it towards the color of the Titan’s Eye, defined by the aura of the mage who refined it. Titan’s Eye is another Gemstone capable of being used in Arcane Foci, and can color a casted spell with a flavouring of the refining mage’s aura.

Voidal Reagents (February 14th, 2020) | (February 14th, 2020)

Voidal Reagents occur around Voidal Grooves - namely Mana Obelisk and Voidal Heaths - and produce a wide variety of effects depending upon the Evocation they derive from. Reagents are split into Common, which may be freely harvested and Rare, which require ST to issue them.

NPC Creatures

These Creatures are capable of being created, used, or otherwise interacted with by Players without ST supervision.

Spoiler

Yisars (August 12th, 2022) | (September 23, 2022)

Yisar’s serve as reskinned horse mounts, with the added benefit that a mage may bond with one to gain the properties of a Arcane Foci while riding. A Yisar is created in a rare knowledge ritual where its appearance can be influenced, and typically appears akin to large lizard, with a personality reflecting the mage it bonds with. Wild Yisar can be used in Player Events, though Yisar that cast magic may only be played by ST.

Event Creatures

These creatures are not capable of being freely made, and either require a prerequisite structure or ET to be played or found.

Spoiler

Voidal Horrors (Doc Link) (April 24th, 2018) | (April 24th, 2018)

Esoterical Creatures beyond comprehension and form, Voidal Horrors result in a sentient mass of Arcana crossing the Veil and becoming forced into shape by the Material. They are not alive nor dead, and do not adhere to the laws and norms of creatures of the Material Plane. Voidal Horrors are an ET-Only Event Creature.

Mana Weave Bug (April 2nd, 2022) | (October 13th, 2022)

The result of generations of Fireflies that have consumed and evolved around Liquid Mana, Mana Weave Bugs are flightless creatures with a abdomen of Liquid Mana, which they are capable of ejecting as a defensive measure. Can be used by Players, but never tamed nor communed with Druids due to the presence of Voidal Energies.

Warlocks Hat (February 17th, 2022) | (March 4th, 2022)

An invention of Alteration, Conjuration, and Mentalism of times yore hijacked by a Horror, the Warlock’s hat is a Horror in its own right that feeds upon the vitality of those unfortunate enough to find it upon their head as it seeks to consume their knowledge for itself. The host may attempt to fight back, or be saved by the timely application of Abjurants. ET-Only Creature.

Crystal Snail (April 1st, 2022) | (June 24th, 2022)

A territorial species of Snail mutated by prolonged exposure to caves within Voidal Hollows of Focus Crystals, this Snail leaves a trail of Liquid Mana and is capable of inflicting Foci Taint if it bites another creature enough. If removed from a Hollow and not placed within the radius of a Tear or Obelisk, the creature will die. Can be used by Players.

Sensory Wisp (September 22nd, 2021) | (November 7th, 2021)

A creature of the Voidal Plane that wanders into reality through Voidal Tears, Sensory Wisp appears akin to Jellyfish floating through the air. Beings of Sensory Illusion, they are not capable of sentience or death, and have the ability to portend one’s future, a sensation much stronger to Voidal Magi, acting as an omen through the color they emi; though as all omens, they are not accurate. Can only be used in Player/ET Events

Arcane Revenants (January 16th, 2016) | (January 16th, 2016)

A near-mythical creature, Arcane Revenats are the byproduct of untempered experimentation with the Void, as Arcana rips the image of the creator away, and forces it to be recreated by Arcana and the creature's constant connection. More akin to a Horror than any descendant, the Arcane Revenant is capable of producing lands where the Veil thins which is alive, and only brings comfort to itself.

Note: This lore is old, I presume this is a ET only creature.

Voidal Creations

These 10 post contain Lore that Players can engage in on their own agency, ranging from the creation of simple aids like Arcane Foci and Obelisks, to the creation of Atronachs and Wizard’s Hat, all the way to the obscene Voidal Tears and potent Magnum Opus.

Spoiler

Wizard Hats (July 28th, 2023) | (September 1st, 2023)

A more curious form of Arcane Foci, a Mage may weave Magegold or Arcanium wire around a tall, pointy hat and enchant it to a moderate form of sentience - the Hat will do its best to keep the wearer comfortable, and even drag them to safety if they become incapacitated in combat. Open Knowledge.

Magnum Opus - Spellforging (April 30th, 2021) | (May 18th, 2021)

The pinnacle of a Mage’s Height, a Voidal Mage who is T5 in Voidal Magic(s) may, in an unstable source of Mana, create a new spell of their own design. This process is deeply personal, highly taxing, and not always likely to succeed. A Mage may create 1 Spellforge and learn 1 Spellforge, though a Eminant may replaced the Learned Spellforge with a 2nd Created Spellforge. While Spellforging is Open Knowledge, it is difficult to undertake and so rarely seen.

Arcane Foci (March 4th, 2021) | (April 2nd, 2021)

The staple of the Modern Mage, a Arcane Focus permits a mage to alter the method in which they cast, alongside doubling the reach of particular spells and strengthening the durability of their connection. These creations, unless made of Arcanium, tend to be quite fragile and easily destroyed by Abjuration. Open Knowledge.

Mana Obelisk (December 18th, 2020) | (January 15th, 2021)

Obelisks are structures of stone, with a cap of some magically conduiting material fueled by Magi - the more magi, the taller the structure may be and the larger its radius. Mage’s within an Obelisk's radius may cast non-combative spells that are not creation or enchantment related freely, experience half off any combative casting, and gain moderate benefits when creating particular things, such as Arcanium. Obelisk serves as a Greater Source of Mana and can be used to enable various rites, as well as support a Voidal Groove. They are easily destroyed by Abjuration and Blunt Force. Open Knowledge

Voidal Tearing (October 29th, 2020) | (December 5th, 2020)

The most destructive of Voidal Arts, a Mastered Translocationist and Transfigurationist may rend open the Veil within a frame, linking the Material to the Void. As Tears age they grow more potent, but equally more solidified in existence which renders their destruction more catastrophic. Rare Knowledge.

Arcane Relays (November 2nd, 2019) | (June 23rd, 2020)

Arcane Relays serve as a means to communicate over long distances within real time for Magi, provided each Relay shares a common Bond Sigil. They cannot be used combatively or by leaving combat briefly, and are extremely fragile. Open Knowledge.

Atronachs

Atornachs are a board set of metal enchanted with Voidal Magic, permitting it the capability to be used in ways not commonly possible.

Spoiler

Limbs (December 15th, 2019) | (April 30th, 2020) & Eyes (February 15th, 2023) | (April 23rd, 2023)

Atronach Limbs and Eyes can be used in replacement of their organic counterparts, with moderate benefits such as the ability to be enchanted, the ability to passive utilize Arcana-Flow, and the ability to float. They are susceptible to Abjuration, and blunt force.

Drones (October 21st, 2021) | (October 26th, 2021)

Micro-Atronachs, also known as Drones, are non-combative NPC Atronachs capable of non-combative activities. They are typically much smaller than full Atronachs and much less durable. They do, however, share the full mental capabilities of Full Atronachs.

Constructs (December 15th, 2019) | (April 28th, 2020)

Atronach CAs serve as a construct of Voidal Energies, focused around a primary element. Solid Atronachs tend to be more durable, while Liquid Atronachs tend to be more Magically Inclined. Atronachs are bound to obey the commands of their original creator, but otherwise are fully capable of thought, speech, and intelligence.
