Hey there everyone!

The web development sect of the tech team is back at it again with an update and announcement regarding the winners of our previously announced arts contest for the new store page, plus some other updates in regards to the going ons regarding the website.

Although we received many amazing submissions for our store page arts contest we unfortunately could only pick 4 winners (we decided to tie two for third place because we liked them so much). After many weeks of deliberation and discussions among the team we had finally settled on what we believed would be the best pick for the store page. We didn't just judge the art on how good it looked, we also had to factor in the functionality of the store page cards with the new art and how easy to understand these pieces were for their respective use cases, even requesting our final round of participants to create an additional card for judging. And now, we are happy to announce the winners of the Web Team's Store Page Arts Contest!

Other Web Team updates!

Store Page next steps

Now that we have selected the artist for the store page, we will be working with them to create art for all seven ranks, and  @xDK will finalizing the code. Once this is completed, we will launch the new store page, replacing our existing, outdated graphics at lotc.co/store.

Forum Fixes

As some of you may know, over the last couple weeks something began to really take a toll on the forums, causing massive slow downs and occasional crashes. After some investigation, as well as moving the forum database from a shared DB with other web apps running on our web node to a dockerized instance dedicated for Invision, I was able to deduce that much of slowdown was caused by AI webcrawlers (probably these new free reasoning models) spamming out search bar with nonsense queries and inevitably overwhelming the database with the amount of requests they were making. As a result, search requests made by guests are now disabled, which seems to have cleared away the issues.

Home Page

Not much to talk about here, but progress is slowly being made on the new and improved home page by @SaviourMeme, with some cool features being added throughout. Although in the grand scheme of things its a single page on the web, we are trying to make it a unique and enticing landing page for new players and anyone that might stumble upon it. Stay tuned in the future when more information drops.
