[✗] [Amendment] Conjuration - Resizing

Hello. I see conjuration in an odd state right now, where most people either have the magic and don't use it, or use bound Jing. In my ever continuing effort to bring whimsy and joy to the mage community, I hope to add an ability to conjuration, something that will give the community some more specialization and be more "thematic" I want to see that mage who specializes in insects or frogs, Drakes even, etc etc

Adjust Fauna [T4]

[Combative]

The conjurer, now master of form and frame, may adjust the size of their summoned beasts -- conjuring mice to be the size of a mastiff or shrinking a stag to dance in their palm. Resizing their Fauna, an imperfect manipulation, that both strengthens and weakens the creature all at once.

Mechanics

  • Spoiler
    • Resizing is applied during the summoning process and is NOT instantaneous. The caster must shrink or enlarge the creature through the entire casting with obvious tells It also requires [1] additional charge emote to the conjuring.
    • Resizing cannot be applied to already summoned creatures; it must be part of the original cast
    • The resized creature(s)’s strength and movement scale with it's new size, but never greater than a natural creature of the same size
      • Small: no stronger than a house cat
      • Medium: as strong as a wolf
      • Large: as powerful as a bear

Redlines

  • Spoiler
    • Resized creatures do NOT retain their original strength. A bear shrunk to be Small will move stiffly and strike with the force of a house cat.
    • Resized animals are less flexible and less optimized for their new found size, making them slightly inferior in terms of dexterity
    • Flying creatures enlarged to medium or large can NOT fly, as their wings would need to be exponentially enlarged in order to allow them to keep flight. They however can glide
    • Creatures cannot be resized to Miniscule -- the anatomy of a creature small or larger is far too complex to function at the miniscule size
    • A creature must be resized at their initial summoning. Once a creature is summoned, they can not be resized, any attempts will break the summon altogether.
    • Any plating of a creature that is conjured is no stronger than a thick hide. You can not shrink down a drake and have it be the ultimate tank.
    • Creatures with natural abilities such as poison or fire breath can not be replicated

I think I’d go with the duck sized horses bc it’d look sick as hell to hit a combo attack

Oh, I like this. Does this mean that I could shrink down a large (bear sized) creature/animal to like a medium (Dog/wolf sized) and have that as a Jing? Or even have a wasp big as a cat flying by my side for fun?

I did not intend for it to be possible with Jing but the more I think about it, I dont see why I would limit it in such a way. So Yes you would be able to have a Medium sized Bear as a jing, though its weakened to be as strong as a wolf at max ability, with less dexterity, akin to a chimeric summon

Don't use it? Bound jing? Watch this.

* Pulls a frog out of pocket. *

On a more serious note. This is ultimately a mostly harmless spell. ( Although the risk of creating something OP still exists ) Furthermore, it allows more freedom to a magic which thrives on creativity.

I had a dream. It was a weird one. I dreamt of a dragon sized duck (Please give me)

@sam33497I have a question, can I make a creature that is 12 tall (can't summon something this big without a ritual I know), into 10 tall (Large/bear size) or smaller?

Asking because I only have one big summoning that if I summon this 12 tall it need to be a ritual and a summoning circle as an ST must RP it from my understanding, so I want to learn more so I understand this better on how it works.

This lore has been denied.

As was discussed with Sam in my DMs, it appears that there has been a previously established precedent whereby you can summon animals at different sizes provided that you are familiar with the biology. I.E. a small bear or a larger dog. Chimeric Alteration is intended to be for, say, putting bear claws on a dog rather than making a dog bear-sized (which would fall under gigantism). We will likely have an amendment in-house to clarify this, just don't powergame and understand that sizes don't translate 100% to amped power.
