realized after learning Java for a bit that making plugins was fun, and realized how i can be the change i want to see when it comes to the technical side of lotc. it is pretty convenient to just make a fix for something you are annoyed with plugin wise

java itself is very jarring to look at and understand at first, and will demotivate you in the initial stages because you're gonna think that you're an idiot for not being able to understand it, when in reality java just makes you feel like an idiot (you're not an idiot)

if you can get past that hurdle, it really isn't as hard as people make it out to be. especially if you're doing this as a hobby, you don't really need to worry about memorizing every single method to get things to work (google is your friend). only thing you should worry about is ensuring you understand how java works, but once you've got that down you're fine. its sort of like building with legos, taking many pieces and putting them together to create art. coding is fun, just need to have the right mindset.

this is coming from a guy who dropped programming in high school because it was too hard for him. i work in IT LOL

great question though! i'd be happy to answer anything else on discord (greehn) if anyone else has anything they want to ask about java.

inside of LOTC is hard, because besides Wrappa, ItemEdit GUI and Soulstone GUI, i don't think i contributed MAJORLY to the wider scope of LOTC plugins...

i think LimitedCreative was by far the most rewarding for me to work on. previously it was clunky and shitty and pretty confusing for players, mods and devs to use. i like to think i was able to make it less shitty and actually usable, but there is still lots of work to be done. was pretty happy to basically make the triage "lost my inventory after restart because of LC" tickets go from like 10-20 a day to none.

outside of LOTC is probably a personal project that i'll never complete. was supposed to be a complete remake of an old Mineplex game called Gem Hunters, to just test and showcase what I can actually code
