WHAT ARE WE DOING???

I was someone who, at the end of the day, despite being a Haenser, wanted the Empire to exist. I believed fully that centralizing rp was a net positive, and I had heard that some really cool rp took place in Oren despite all of it's flaws, and I was excited to see how this new Empire would go.

 

I am no longer excited.

 

To clarify a few things, this is not a hate-letter to Empire rpers, the people behind creating it, or anything of the sort. I think that a lot- majority of Imperial players are more than capable of creating very, very good narratives and I've seen it in action. Notably, too, I'm not against PVP at all. I think PVP is a very important part of this server and should never go anywhere. Also, I've never been a victim of this. This isn't coming from a place of being bandited by Ferrymen and crashing out, having my do-badder character get PVP defaulted or something of the other. I've just been sitting in Alba and watching the server unfold. I do not come here to hate, but in the most crash-out way that I can, I want to ask, WHY???

 

What is the fun? How do people not see this place devolving? I see LITERAL copy and paste emotes and people being kill-executed in Alba in 2 emotes, I see people having their do-badder characters have PVP default called on them. It's vexing to me of the highest degree, because, again, I know that people in charge, and even the random guards are more than capable of creating very good rp, and so they see the fun in it, and they should understand that this is NOT good rp. This is winning, fully prioritizing winning. If I was able to see PCSwift and LobsterLarry try and make good, quality narrative, and succeed, what is the issue? Do you hold the disdain for the freaky elf players? Do you truly just care about winning? Are you so out of touch that you cannot see that this is not centralizing rp, it is SUFFOCATING it. If it wasn't for the end of map eventline I truly do not know what we would be doing right now. I see players that I know have created really good narratives ALONGSIDE ME in the past fully telling me that this is okay and normal, and I feel like I'm losing it.

Again. This is not a hate-letter to the Empire or it's players. But I just want to know what makes this fun for some of you? Also, sorry for my scattered and ranty thoughts - and for the forum crashout. As an athiest would say, science bless.

This specifically is why I try (and fail) to avoid Alba. I would literally RP literally anywhere else then that hole, and that is why i spend maybe 75%-90% of my time in any other nation, I would literally rather sit in the ruins of a dead nation and RP then go to Alba tbh

I feel like I understand perfectly the vision you are roleplaying towards. I think you've told me yourself and that is why I was excited for the Empire. I don't think that this vision is being actually roleplayed towards.
Final edit; I want to clarify maybe I'm wrong. I don't believe I'm self righteous in all that I say and that is why I tried my best to make this about opening a dialogue rather than just saying 'you guys suck!!!'. Evidently, replying to me by saying 'I'm sorry that (You problem), I think (You problem)' is sort of a quick way to shut that down, though.

You're crying about no longer being excited to roleplay in a nation that was created a few days before or after the announcement of a map end. Unfortunately, the Empire was created with a lack of main city, so Alba had to host and centralise most of it -- the placement of vassals is wonky, and peoples general motivation to do anything has been lowered because they simply want to sit and wait for next map, which is valid. The issue here being that the administration has announced their map end six months earlier than they should have. The Empire was also created in a rush period, people wanted a new buzz, and so we made the new buzz, and because we had no place, Alba became that buzz--even through roleplay, our council, government, laws, guard, knights, it was made in a hurry, and now it's slowly being refined.

 

Onto your complaint; the do-badders being 2-emote pvp'd. Why? That's because the do-badders suck. 

 

Their roleplay is slop, their emote quality is dry--when they initially started to come and do villainy, they were given justifiable means to start a story, and when they were killed, it was CRP. However, when the same do-badders return everyday to do the same villainy, you water down your RP significantly. Sounds like a bad thing to say as an ST, but I'd rather just PvP them to death instead of reliving the same roleplay villainy from the same roleplay villain I just did four times over in Alba five to six days ago.

 

The reason this is not centralised RP is because Alba is not the heart of the Empire. There's a lot of vassals who do not want to interact with Alba, but they want to interact with the imperial family. This is all fixed next map when we have a capital city. We've been trying to get our capital city pasted this map but [admin] has kept stalling it.

 

If you aren't enjoying the RP, just move on bro. Don't RP in Alba. Go RP in Numendil or somewhere else and continue on with your day. Even though Alba is currently very active, there's always RP elsewhere. You don't have to be there.

 

Tiring wokeism of LoTC--the incessant boring complaints, cry-babying. Just make it better for yourself if you don't like it lol.

Never understood the Sutica hate. It serves a specific niche for characters who have been expelled or otherwise excluded from their racial settlements. I think a lot of the hate Sutica style multi-racial communities get is based on jealously and competition over players rather than any concerns with the quality of roleplay or health of the server.

What you think is wrong and you have already lost. Multiracial communities exist because those communities themselves cannot form a consistent culture that attracts people so the selling point becomes "anyone can come here, you are welcome :)" in RP and they are often advertised as OOC safe spaces like in Elysium (we know how that turned out). It's more enticing to see a roleplay community driven by the roleplay world that gains momentum with the narrative and culture around it rather than it being a place to exist for, as you have put it in nicer terms, but I'll say more bluntly: a city of rejects where everyone is welcomed. I would be more jealous of a thriving community that is prosperous by its own merits rather than by the antithesis all-welcoming slop port city.
