please god no

do not give the grind more to bleed over

Recommendations:

- Keep cooking simple and SHORT.

- If you really want to make custom foods mechanically edible, just let us combine RP descriptions from /edit gui and put them INTO these mechanically-edible foods made via vanilla + SIMPLE plugin ingredients that have their own appearance- Netherwart is a great example. This has potential, but it needs to conjoin with the other RP-supporting plugins of the server as well lest we get yet another unexplained mechanic for pinktags to be confused about.

- If we are giving foods potion effects, would make more sense to get a couple seconds of slowness from eating such HEARTY, saturation-injected meals in exchange.

Stuff I THINK wouldn't go well:

- Speed, strength, jump boost, slow fall, extra health, resistance and regeneration effects. I do not care if they have 5 second durations, these foods should not be 'meta' beyond filling hunger. If they DO, make sure these effects DO NOT affect players while statused.

- Rarities would be neat? but this may just result in inventory clutter and nothing impactful. At best, let rarities separate easy recipes from difficult ones.

- Regional reskins of the same items are a hard no. If orengrain wishes to be real, let farming fellas IRPly brand wheat as such.

Ze QUESTIONS

  1. Should we have specific types of compost? If so, how should they work (e.g. make food grow faster but at reduced quality? Increase yield? Make food grow faster only in certain climates?)
If made from ROTTEN FOODS, I think this could be pretty cool. multiply the yield of a specific crop.
  2. Should descendants drop a food item when slain, and if so, what should its drop rate be, and should undead players benefit mechanically from consuming it?
Drop a vanilla/plugin tagged skull, probably. which can then be used in a recipe ALL can consume. Think how morbid pvp 'healing items' you get from killing another player would be in a narrative scenario.
  3. Should you be able to walk your animals around (on a lead) to make them grow faster,
Indifferent. Worst thing i could see is people literally afk farming on a minecart going on in a circle while leading along a bunch of cows. A cow can already be near-instantly grown up by feeding it 64 wheat.
  4. Should we have setup requirements to not tick your animals off (so they need to be in open air with nearby grass, rather than in a 1x1 cube deep underground)?
Mod issue, nub tech me thinks

This looks really, really, really overcomplicated, and given the most fundamental part of the plug-in (food bags) keep deleting stacks upon stacks of food, I'm not excited for this nor do I want it. Just let me 1x3 wheat in a crafting table and write I don't want to play an MMO, I want to roleplay. I'm not on ff14 or Runescape for a reason

Keep in mind, these effects were present in Nexus, and saw no warclaim use.

I can nerf it down to like 5 seconds, though.

PvP now is completely different compared to almost 10 years ago. Back then people were throwing around alchfire, stoneskin, and smoke whispers.

Besides, conflict involves a lot more than war and effect potions (i.e. coffee speed) can be a lot more impactful in raids and smaller fights.

Seems like you are misremembering. Potions were extensively used in warclaims. If you're talking about the speed potion specifically, sure, the potion of celerity was likely not used in warclaims because it also gave you a weakness II debuff.

That does not mean that a speed I potion without these debuffs isn't useful in a variety of situations. Just leave these effects out of your plugin. . .

I don't think fabled food recipes need potion effects to motivate people to craft them. My evidence for this is how many "edit tokens" this server sells - people already craft their own "custom" food by renaming vanilla items, and pay for the privilege!

You could motivate this food core plugin by letting players freely name/describe the food they crafted; i.e. switch the flag that lets you /edit an already edited item without burning a token. This would encourage people to interact with the plugin while giving them freedom to roleplay cooking whatever they want.

I eat a chicken feather sandwich mid-fall to gain slow fall, and land in a spiderman pose

@Aesopian Idk if this question was answered yet. If bonemeal effects will be turned off, will this effect those trying to gather various flowers and what not from CT resource island? Or various parts of the realm? If so, what's the solution to obtain these?

the growth effect of bonemeal would be disabled, which is independant of the custom interaction the server has of receiving a copy of a plant via using bone meal.

Likely a new item and method of acquiring it would be introduced that would supplement bonemeal's vanilla growth effect being disabled. I made a Compost item and that has an AoE bonemeal effect on crops that I'd likely use, will provide expired food a use and incentive to utilize compost bins again since that mechanic is completely non-existent.

Bloody hell man please just put this stuff on hold and make it so the ingame help is updated accurate and accessible for the stuff that already exists before adding more and more things.
