TO UPLIFT THE SILENT MAJORITY: The Bill that Altered Orenian Succession (I-IV)

Within Alba, so dominated by patriarchal lords and politicians, the lone Lady Mayor read over this publication hungrily upon one evening when her municipal duties had allowed her a moment of reprieve. A pang of sadness sprung to life in her chest, to feel almost as if she had been born too late to reside in an age where her own talents and achievements might hold more weight than that of simply being stepping stones to a fine marriage. The Baroness of Owynsburg, now bound as she was in unwanted union, wondered how life could be if the Empire of present even somewhat adopted the ideas of the past.

It was a dream that was like to never see reality, not within her lifetime atleast. But as she prayed for any future daughters she might bring forth, she tucked that publication into a catalogue within her desk - to be reread again and again when time allowed.

Spoiler

Crazy to read and relive all of this, feels like forever ago. Really great work!

“Huh… here I thought people were ok with how humans treat women in the empire… an elf is usually wrong half the times!”

Vivien nodded, having to see women can in fact speak out for once!

meanwhile

”…”

Vesalina reads through some old text, finding no records of female leaders!

She wondered why no one remembers them…. A change that hopefully would come in this Empire.

Sibylla of Cleves, an academic herself, pored over Proventia’s work with curious eyes. There was an underlying sense of familiarity in her reception of the article, for a feeling wrought by a time  that her contemporaries had not been privy to.

In the quiets of an apple orchard, a small girl found herself resting with a missive in hand. Between apple slices she'd read, a charcoal pencil underlining certain names and taking notes in her little book of drawings. That missive was neatly folded, and tucked away into the booklet, to later be pinned up and displayed on the wall next to her desk.

Thriku sat by the fireplace in his home in Urguan just finished reading the book with a morning cup of Dwarven Vodka and shook his head "imagine judgin someone based on T'ere gender an' ne on t'eir beard length"

A small heiress, whose ancestors once bore the title of Rosemoor proudly, had her governess read her the entirety of the paper to her that night. Though her line no longer went by the name Novellen, Anastasia still bore determination for the women who paved the way before her, “One day,” She chimed, little hands spreading out just to visualize the grandeur, “I’m gonna be just like her.”

The last Countess of Rosemoor and Princess-Royal of the Novellen line smiles from her resting place in the Skies. One day, she hoped, the legacy of her predecessors would shine through once more.

“It is unfortunate, though, that the last time a woman was let into a position of power, she not only caused the fall of Haense, but then guided her people to pagan lands; it depleted their general quality of life, living amongst cattle inside of dirt huts.”

Max Horen chuckled upon overhearing the ruminations of Hadrian. "Brother, did the stewardship of the realms led by men of that era, which so easily fell to our father's pushback, impress you more? Though they have not loved us since the age of Veletz, it is only Petra amongst the older human states, guarded and administrated by primarily women, which has survived to this day."

A Queen-Mother reviewed the piece of well-written literature, and was glad to live in a place where women held higher purpose and duties. She wondered who might be offended by such writings, and could only think of lowly men.

Enrique wandered by and felt compelled to comment, having been alive for these events:

”Incompetence is gender-neutral, men and women led states that fell to our efforts at the time. I won’t suggest how you rule inheritance to work, but, I can point to any number of states to make a point about the gender of their leadership, positive or negative.”

Sat not that far away from her, a scion of a House from which great women had emerged, Nafis Lorethos Basrid peered over to hear along the governess' words. At Stasie's remark, he smiled - proud - and nodded. "Yes, you will."

really incredible work, I loved the read. <3

A humble woman, born of Novkursain, perused the document with quiet focus. A faint, somber smile tugged at the corners of her lips. Though Haense had fallen at the hands of those who would see Imperial men placed into power once more, she allowed herself the smallest spark of hope; that a day might come when women could rule again, and their voices would be heard without restraint or rejection.

An anonymous note was sent to the author – a simple congratulations on her academic success, offered without fanfare or expectation.

The President of the Northern Geographical Society skimmed through the paper, with an eye less for its contents, and more for its style, character, and quality. She let out a pleased hum, and added it to a file on her desk.

"It survived because a Lord and ordinary women defended it, and then they were betrayed by the women in charge. History paints a clear picture: men are treacherous fools who covet power, and women shall eat one another before giving up theirs." Both Max Horen and Hadrian Horen looked around, saw that it was a pageboy who said this, and then the boy was flogged.

A young grand-heiress of Alba tucked herself beneath the apple tree outside of Fritzbrook, reading through the publishings with eagerness. Her finger traced along the edge of each page, going over every inked word with the utmost attention.

At last, she'd set the parchment aside, leaning herself against the trunk with a sigh. The weight of tradition thumped in her chest, her own mind betraying her as what echoed within were words of dispiritment

"You shall never measure up."
"Stand aside for Johann to take your place."
"All will view you as what you are, weak and meek."

Her head would shake, dispersing the thoughts to be nothing more than that, thoughts. She would measure up, she would exceed expectations, and she would do so as a lady. Aralinde von Augusten stood, brushing her skirts off of the earth that clung to them. Her posture straightened, feet carrying her back within the castle with a newfound sense of determination
