The Imperial Chancellery announces the commencement of the elections of the Burgherraad across the Crownlands. In those districts where but a single candidate was put forth, said nominees have been duly and automatically inducted to their seats, no contest being required. 

 

Thus, only those lands wherein multiple candidates stand shall proceed to a proper vote. Eligible citizens in the Free City of Rittersberg may cast up to three votes per district, in the Archduchy of Alba up to two, and in the Duchy of Lorraine one.

 

All citizens must have completed the Imperial Census, be at least eighteen years of age, own property in their district (Rittersberg, Alba, or Lorraine), and be in good standing with both the Empire and the Holy Church to be eligible to vote.

 

Voting will close on Horen’s Calling [Wednesday, the 15th, at 5 pm], and inquiries may be directed to the Imperial Vice-Chancellor, Lord Ezra de Senna.

Oliver Napier: My name is Oliver Napier, and while I am a new resident of Rittersberg, I am an old resident of the Empire. My recent works have been assisting the development of the Lex Imperialis, our new law code. My background is primarily legal, which I propose to any future constituents to consider, may be a great aid in the creation of legislation that you wish to see passed in your name. Beyond the technical familiarities, I am a firm believer in the mission laid before me, in the act of representation. Those elected to speak in the Burgherraad are chosen servants, not masters. I seek not fame, nor glory or money - but a chance to, through selection, make this country a place fairer and more prosperous. I leave thee with the words from the Edict of Nenzing, written three centuries ago, ‘A social contract exists and has always [been] between the governed and the government which requires the compromise of personal interests on both parties in exchange for the betterment of the state of mankind.’

 

Alexander Galbraith: My name is Alexander Galbraith. I serve in the Imperial Guard and the Imperial Business Association — but above all, I serve the Imperium. I stepped forward to strengthen our institutions and help them reach their full potential. I played a key role in building the Imperial Office of Civil Affairs into a body that delivers results — restoring discipline, efficiency, and purpose. Because government must serve the people and uphold the strength of the Empire. Rittersberg deserves strength, prosperity, and leadership. If elected, I will stand firmly behind the Imperial Army, ensuring it remains a unified force that protects every citizen across the Empire. I will defend the autonomy of the Free City of Rittersberg, giving its mayor the authority needed to grow our economy, support businesses, and secure the capital’s prosperity. I will restore trust in our government and strengthen the structure of the Privy Council so it serves with authority, clarity, and purpose. I will establish independent Imperial Courts of Law across the Empire, with truly independent judges and real due process — ensuring fair and impartial trials for every citizen. And I will ensure the Imperial Burgherrad truly reflects the will of the people — because a strong Empire listens, and then acts. The Imperium must not falter. It must move forward — united, confident, and strong. My motto is simple: ‘Do not ask what the Empire can do for you — ask what you can do for the Empire.’

 

William of Curon: I am William of Curon, a citizen like you. I landed in Rittersburg without a penny to my name, but with a mind full of dreams. My beginnings were humble,as all I could afford was to share a room in a muddy alley of Little Lorraine. But the hard work eventually paid off, and the wretched war against the dwarves gave me the opportunities necessary to progress within the Army. In the time I have lived in this wonderful city I have gotten to know wonderful people, like for example Erelith of the Apple Tree, who has surely healed almost every soul of this city at some point, or Maeryk of Ir, a great warrior who rarely gets recognition for their efforts against the Darskworn. With their help, we founded the chain of general stores ‘It's Always Something’ where we sell very affordable products at a continental scale. Our profits go toward the Order of the Orchard, which in turn helps those in need with free medicine, alms and donations. I won't bore you with complex words and empty promises. I am a soldier and a businessman who appreciates efficiency, and you can trust me to translate that into matters of the state. There should be no room for ambiguous laws nobody can understand and that get in the way of the common man, only those that make life easier for every citizen of this glorious Empire. Grimbol Grobol: I have wandered far and wide - forests, valleys, caves, even across the great oceans. These days I live in the Imperial Gardens of Rittersburg, tending the soil and minding my own business. When you spend enough time with dirt, trees, and people passing by, you start to learn a few things about the land and the folk living on it. If elected Burgher, I promise a few very important reforms. First, every citizen will receive a complimentary mushroom once a week. Mushrooms solve more problems than most politicians ever will. Second, every tree in the city will be protected, because trees are wise and they know when to stay quiet. I will also place talking benches around the city where citizens can sit and tell their problems to statues. The statues will not interrupt, argue, or pretend to care, which already makes them better listeners than most officials. I claim no noble blood and no great fortune. Just a pocket full of odd trinkets and a long life of wandering about. What I offer is experience, a bit of wisdom, and the belief that a city grows best when the soil is healthy, the people laugh often, and the burghers remember to step outside once in a while and touch grass. Vote wisely. Vote for mushrooms. Vote for ol' Grimbol Grobol.

Rothwin Aldor: I was elected Folkman of Leever, my native ward in St. Godwinsburg, at the age of eighteen years, and therein served in the Imperial Witenmot for the full term of eight years. During that time, and in spite of the dullness and sloth of that body, I opposed at every turn the encroachment of over-government. I gave no consent unto a national law for the national drinking age and advanced subsidies to the good physicians of the Imperial College of Medicine. In the years since, I have received the trust and gracious patronage of the noblest Archduke of Alba as his Master of Pedigrees and have been elevated to the archducal House of Lords, bearing the titular and gentle style of Lord of House Aldor. It would be a singular honor to continue in this course of service in representation of the Archduchy of Alba in Rittersburg. I would add hereunto that I have ever been a steadfast friend to the Prince’s Institution, and am myself both a father and the head of the Aldor kindred: two considerations which, to those who hold those matters dear, may well assure them of my constant care for the maintenance of learning and family life, both in Alba and beyond. Berengaria di Rosavena: My name is Berengaria Giuliana di Rosavena, my family did not first land in Alba upon our arrival to the mainland but instead after the fall of a vassal we pledged our loyalty to first. We stood with them until the very end, something our family could not break from for we pride ourselves on our loyalty. Now that we are in the Archduchy of Alba we aim to offer all our efforts to its community- Rosavena's have found their way into different parts of Alban society, whether that be the government or the courts, the military or the Prince's Institution, so on. Namely, I have found myself as a recruit in the Alban military, I too have served in the courts since childhood. What I have learned has been taught to me by my seniors, especially my grandfather, who has used his work as High Constable of Alba and Alderman of Welles to instruct me on governance and legislature. My wardship with the Archduchess of Alba proved to support my private familial education as I studied household management and court politics of Alba - I see my effort towards a proper education of good standing to have prepared me for this role of Burgherraadwoman, to be a voice of all people.

 

Aviel Helfgott: I am of good, common standing within the Archduchy of Alba, any resident that has had the chance to speak with me will echo such sentiments and offer you comments that I am a kind soul and have the willingness to defend its people from whatever threats may cross into the boundaries of Alba's territorial claims. I am a family man first, yet a soldier and merchant by trade; having just recently reestablished my familial business, the Sea and Stars Trading Company, within Alba's wall. This business has seen great success within the first two Saint's Weeks of its opening. I am a man of faith as well, having been faithful to Church doctrine and an avid reader of the Holy Scrolls to better understand the world we live in and grow closer to our Heavenly Father. With myself as Burgher of Alba, I wish for the continued prosperity of Alba and the Greater Empire as a whole by making sure that the next generation may continue to thrive as we have been able to for the last, nigh half-century of Pertinaxi rule.

Huon of Lorraine: I am writing this on behalf of Huon, as he can not read or write. I'll tell you right now, genuinely, this man probably thinks this is a complimentary biography of his life but he asked me to write "Imperial" for his affiliation, so I'm unsure if he truly understands what the Burgheraad is. Huon is a soldier who has been in the Imperial Army since the age of thirteen. He apparently killed an Ent at that age, and insists that we all "ask Prince Titus and Sir Lothar about it."  If you ask me, I think the lad just wants someone to feel proud of him. I probably wouldn't vote for him, though. - A concerned friend.

 

Horace of Lorraine: My name is Horace and I am a proud Lorrainian patriot. I have served five years in the Lorrainian Levy, partaking in every battle during the Imperial Offensive against the Kingdom of Urguan. I commanded my own cannon during the Sieges of Alpine and Kal'Baraz, destroying numerous Urguani artillery and thus helping to ensure the safety of our vanguard. During the Siege of Red and Gold I assisted Sir Lothar with reloading even as the rest of our company were shredded by ballista bolts, thus earning the duke's respect. Outside of the battlefield I serve as a deacon in the Church of the True Faith, thereby performing rites, preaching virtue, and ensuring the spiritual health of all those who call Lorraine home. In other words, I serve as a pillar of our community whilst spreading HIS light. It is unquestionable that the Empire has been generous to our fair duchy, a fact which our people know. It would be my honor, therefore, to represent Lorraine in expressing this gratitude as their representative. It is my belief that the Empire must remain strong and possess overwhelming military might. It is my belief that the Empire must remain devout to the teachings of the Holy Scrolls and intolerant of the lesser beliefs which seek to usurp it. It is my belief that the Empire must also remain just by rewarding the peasants, burghers, soldiers and other professions left unmentioned whose efforts were no less important than our blue-blooded patrons in forging the Empire of Azuras and ensuring our continued prosperity. A vote for Horace is a vote for this and more. A vote for Horace is a vote for the Empire. A vote for Horace is a vote for you...and Lorraine.
