The Clerical Order is A Branch of the Church of Light

ChurchofLight.png

•Hymn of the Clerics•

Long before the dead ones roamed

And People Learned Of Noble Lines

Causing them to walk up high

Ascend the stair way of seven skies

Before this time of dark now here

The Clerics walked throughout the world

Spreading Light and bringing cheer

They Made the Heavens seem so near

But then one day they faded from mind

There names forgotten, Their lives behind

The Rise of Undead was casting fear

The bright Ascended brought new cheer

But now the Ascended can't do it all

There light not enough, We need more lest we fall

So new springs the Order, the Order so bright

Its fight shall not stop till all have the light

The Goal is simple, the motto clear

A light in all places lets no darkness near

So rally O Aegis, rally together

Be a light in the world, God's beacon forever

•Lore•

-The Founding

The clerical order is an order from almost the beginnings of Aegis. It was founded by a young brother and sister training to be monks in the Cloud Temple. Their names were Rebekah and Jacob. The both spent so much time praying to God and to the Aenguls and Daemons that they were smiled upon and blessed. They both were given the abilities to perform works for the gods and to commune with them on a higher level. The duo walked the width of Aegis spreading the light of the gods and growing the ranks of the Clerical Order they had started for those wanting to have this closeness to the gods. For a time they brought on a time of light to Aegis and were a large group called upon by all the nation for aide and counsel. It was the golden era of the clerics.

-The Fading of the Clerical Order

Years after the death of Jacob and Rebekah the undead and ascended first arose. The Order, without the guidance of the founders, had not grown and the most powerful clerics had all died out with none coming to take their place. The people of Aegis had lost faith in the Clerics and with the coming of the ascended no one called upon the clerics at all. The Ascended became the new light and the Clerics faded from memory.

-The Rediscovery

Years after the Clerical Order had fallen completely from memory and the war of the undead and ascended was at its peak Thrym Silverfist, a young smith, became a cleric. He knew nothing of the original order but wanted to learn more about any clerics there may have been in the past. He went to his family manor, Irongut manor, and studied long hours in the library. After long hours of searching and praying he found a early journal of Heron Irongut, written before he had fallen, in it he found mention of Heron discovering a clerical order in the Temple Library. Thrym set out at once and spent over a day in the Library searching for the text. Once he found it he begged the Druid Order to let him copy it to form a new Clerical Order. After talking it over the Order agreed. Thrym has now set out to make a new Clerical Order and is in search of other who want to become servants of the gods. The ascended have become few in this day and age and cannot spread light everywhere without help. This Order will help it happen.

•How We Operate•

Clerics come from all races. We don't ask you to leave your jobs or positions. If you are a guard you can still be a guard. Being a cleric doesn't mean you have to give up everything else. All clerics worship God but each also has a patron from the deities under him. These deities are Aenguls, Daemons, Paragons, and others. We are still in the process of uncovering all of the patrons there are in Aegis but we have found some. The goal is for your patron to shape you to a point where you can be a cleric of God. Some are already for this. Thus, if you feel ready you may pick God as your patron. [NOTE: It is a LOT harder to be accepted if God is your patron]

These deities are:

AENGUL PATRONS

-Aeriel: The Arch-Aengul of God. Lover and Caretaker of All Souls.

-Gazardiael: The Aengul of New Beginnins

DAEMON PATRONS

-in the process of discovery-

PARAGONS (Dwarven Gods)

-Urguan: Head Dwarven Paragon. Paragon of Leadership.

-Hrithgar: Dwarven Paragon of the Forge.

-Lefor: Dwarven Paragon of War and Protection.

Each cleric receives the blessing of his patron and is then given a silver staff which is the mark of the clerical order. You can commune with your patron at a much higher point than the other patrons. This does not mean that the other patrons cannot help you. For example: If your patron is Aeriel and you are a blacksmith you can pray to Aeriel and she will ask Hrithgar to bless you with smithing techniques but Aeriel is the one who you revere most, who you depend on.

•Apply•

Use this format to join the clerics.

NOTE: So I Don't Have to Keep Telling People. The App is OOC Acceptance. If Your App is Accepted Don't Meet Me in Game and Say My App Was Accepted in RP! I RP joining like this: "You may join if the Patrons feel you are ready for the responsibility." If your app is accepted, which is OOC, then in RP the Patrons feel you are ready. Thank you.

1)MC Name & RP Name:

2)Chosen Patron:

3)Reason For Joining (do not have the reason be to become Ascended):

4)Race:

5)Flaws in Your Character:

6) How long have you been on the server:

Scenario Questions-Answer how you would react to each situation.

7) You notice an Apprentice Shade harassing a lowly citizen. [shades Are Evil Mages]

8) You see a small child shivering in the snow.

9) You are walking down the road when a bandit stops you and threatens to kill you if you don't give him all your money and valuables.

10) As you walk through the local market place a person begins to yell that Aeriel and the other patrons are weak and cruel and claims that joining Iblees is the only way to survive.

11) A person walks up and asks you, "Why does God allow suffering to continue?"

The reason for 5 is that acknowledging your flaws is the first step in letting the patrons in to help you overcome them.

After Salamandra has accepted your application you must come to a High Cleric, Teacher, War Cleric, or the Prophet. They will give you trials to pass. You must be a pupil for at least 5 days even if you pass the trials in one. It will take you longer if the trials take you longer than 5 days (IRL). Once you pass the trials the Prophet will bless you and give you a golden staff blessed by your patron and will give you the blessing of the patron as well. You are not officially a Pupil until you have talked to one of the specified.

NOTE: The application is OOC acceptance. When you come to talk to one of the specified in game do not say "I have been accepted"

•Guidelines of the Clerical Order•

1) You must not be evil

2) You must love all races upon Aegis

3) You must spread the light of the creator and the patrons

4) Be respectful to everyone even those of less fortune than you.

5) ((You can not use being a cleric as a reason for powergaming or metagaming.))

•The Goal of the Order•

Many say that the brighter the light the darker the shadow. But, if you place a light everywhere there is no way for a shadow to form. The goal of the clerical order is to be a light over all of Aegis so there is no room for a shadow

•Teachings and Values•

-Dependence on the Patrons for Power

-Our Magic is granted to us for our faith not from within us

-The patrons are kind not seeking to bring doom and destruction to all

-Saving, healing, and helping souls is our mission

•Positions of the Order•

-Pupil: The starting rank of the Clerical Order. A pupil must spend time in meditation and take trials before he receives the patron's blessing and joins the ranks of the clerics. For a pupil to become a cleric he must complete at least 3 trials given him by the prophet or a High Cleric, Teacher, or War Cleric. Then, he must talk to his patron with the Prophet listening to see if the pupil is ready ((and if his RP is good enough)).

-Cleric: A cleric is blessed by his patron and carries a golden staff to spread the light of the patrons to all of Aegis. Before a Pupil becomes a Clerc the Prophet must give him the blessing of his patron.

-High Cleric: A cleric shown to be extremely dedicated. These are the officers and the teachers. The High Clerics have grown very close to there specific patron and as a result have even more power from them. A high cleric can mentor disciples and pupils but that is not his main job. ((Must be more dedicated to order than any other job. Also, must show excellent RP and good knowledge of how to play a cleric))

-Prophet: The leader of the clerics. The prophet is very close to all the patrons and extremely close to his specific patron. Is called the Prophet because the Patrons occasionally speak to him of things to come.

•Special Ranks•

((must show good RP and dedication to the Order above any other jobs to reach one of these ranks. Only given out by the Prophet))

-Disciple (Equal in Rank to Cleric): A Disciple is a cleric who wants to learn even more and hopefully become a High Cleric one day. They must spend much time under the training of a Teacher, High Cleric, or the Prophet.

-Teacher (Equal in Rank to High Cleric): A cleric who wants to help others learn of their patrons and hone clerical skills. Teachers are in charge of mentoring pupils and Disciples. Dedicate more time to training new clerics rather than traveling abroad. Teachers give out most of the trials as the High Clerics, War Clerics, and Prophet often send Pupils to them.

-Paladin (Equal in Rank to Cleric): These are warrior clerics. They spend less time in prayer and more time in physical training. While still close to their patron a Paladin often will not raise much farther in the ranks due to not being able to dedicate as much time to becoming closer to his patron as other clerics. Paladin's must be able to wield a diamond sword or better.

-War Cleric (Equal in Rank to High Cleric): These are the generals of the Paladins. Generally having less skill in the more magical arts of being a Cleric they are none-the-less extremely devout and close to their patrons and show a true example of faith in battle.

•The Trials•

Each Pupil receives different trials for there initiation. Each pupil is given 3 trials and must complete one before the other is given. There are three basic trial categories but, since each set of trials is unique to the pupil, a trial may not always fit in these categories. The categories are:

•Service•

Going out and being a light via service. An example of this type of trial is giving out 10 loaves of bread.

•Gathering•

Gathering a type of material that the Order needs to continue its work. An example is getting and bringing in a lapis block.

•Slaying•

Destroying the spawns of darkness that walk the night. An example of this type of trial is killing 20 monsters.

•OOC Proof of Completing Your Trials•

To prove you have completed a trial take screenshots of your completion and then send them in a forum PM to the person who gave you the trial. Gathering trials do not need screenshots as you are bringing the materials in. For slaying just screenshot the chat log saying you got minas from slaying <insert monster>.

•From Pupil to Cleric, Crafting Your Staff•

Each Pupil gains a blessed staff of gold and at the moment they have it they are Clerics and receive the blessing of their Patron. Each Pupil must craft there own staff in the presence of the Prophet, High Cleric, War Cleric, or Teacher. Each staff is unique and helps magnify that Clerics magic given them. While the staff is not necessary it helps them in that specific area. Each Pupil must gather a log of wood to form their shaft. The log can be dark wood or oak but not birch as it is a weak wood. They must also retrieve 2 ingots of gold to forge the head of their staff. Then, they must get three balls of slime to coat the wood and protect it. Finally, you must get the ingredient for the specific type of magic you want magnified. A pearl of the Endermen is for the magic of prayer. A rod of the Blaze if for battle magic. A diamond is for the magic of healing. Once a Pupil has completed the trials and gone through the days of meditation and prayer (5 IRL days) they must bring these materials to the Prophet or one of the others specified. They must give all the materials to them to be blessed by them. At this point the materials are given to the Pupil and they build their staff. Once the staff and the Pupil are blessed they are a Cleric of the Order.

((Since the slimes, the pearl/rod/diamond, and some of the wood are not used you give them to the Prophet/High Cleric/War Cleric/Teacher who will destroy them since in RP they were used))

•Staff Upgrading•

When you reach the rank of High Cleric or one of the ranks equal to that you place a second magic enhancer on your staff. So, if you had enhanced it with prayer magic you can now add to it battle or healing. The Prophet carries a staff with all enhancers upon it.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Picking the blaze rod as your modifier is not recommended as you can't even do much battle magic until you are a high cleric and even then only with a lot of practice and training.

•Becoming A Pure Cleric•

To become a Pure <insert clerical rank>, or Cleric of God, you must go through a rite of purification and acceptance. God is such a perfect and powerful being that it is dangerous to be his cleric if not prepared. Clerics are extremely close to their patrons, they feel their presense always, without being fully ready this closeness to God can be dangerous for a cleric's life. That is why we have the patrons. Growing close to one of the patrons allows them to mold your character, your soul, into a better thing. The goal is that all of the Order will eventually be molded to a form where they can become Pure Clerics. After you have spent time in prayer and feel that you have grown close enough to your patron you may come speak to me and I will prepare you for the rite. To complete the rite you must spend three days and nights in fasting, prayer, and meditation [MC days not IRL]. At the end of the three days you must go under the blessing of purification where you ask your patron to bring you into a close presense with God. Light will surround you and God's presense will be near you at this moment. If you are ready you will become a Pure Cleric, if not it will leave you damaged if not interupted. For this reason me, a High Cleric, a Teacher, or an Ascended must be in the room as you undergo the rite to intervene if necassary. Very few can become clerics of God but it can happen. ((this is an extremely hard thing to do. I need to see you are amazing at RP and that you are dedicated to the Order and RP a cleric well))

•Magic of Faith•

[This Is All RP You Don' Actually Get These Spell]

[some Guidelines for RPing Clerical Magic]

-Healing Magic

1) Minor Healing: Basic cuts and bruises. (Clerics, Paladins, Disciples, some War Clerics)

2) Healing: Sprains, Strains, and Broken Bones. Helping stop basic nightmares, bringing peace of mind to stressed people (High Clerics, Teachers, some War Clerics)

3) Major Healing: Can Regenerate body parts. Heal mental illness. (Prophet, and High Clerics, Teachers, and War Clerics that have practiced a lot)

-Prayer Magic

This kind of magic is things like bringing peace of mind, casting out demons, etc. For this use discretion. Don't go overpowered, use your heads when doing this type of magic. This has some limited fighting abilities against evil but again think about what you can actually do.

-Battle Magic

This Magic, like the others, requires a lot of practice.

-Battle Spells(Clerics)

1)Light of the palm. Call a light from the palm of your hand to daze your enemy. After much practice can inflict temporary blindness.

Very basic things like this are what you get until being taught advanced battle spells by the Prophet. These are not meant for actual combat more as a means of defense if you need to flee or need time to pull a weapon.

-Advanced Spells (Currently Only the Prophet has them. Can Be Taught to High ranking clerics)

1)Call down light from the sky to blind enemy[Not 100% chance]

Emote: *Calls down a light from the heavens, attempting to blind ________]

2)Orb of Light [Leads to Orb spells]

Emote: *'s eyes narrow, as an orb of light appears in hands

Orb Spells:

•Emote: *throws the orb at _______, attempting to knock them back.

•Emote: *takes the orb and flails it around like a sword

•Emote: *'s orb begins spinning rapidly, turning into a evil cleansing saw

3)Things like shackles of light and advanced prayer magic as well.

Advanced Battle Spells are intended more for actual RP combat instead of just giving you time to run or pull a weapon

•Read If You Have Learned Some Other Magic•

Just because you join this guild doesn't mean that magic is gone. However, as the magic this guild has comes from a different source and is, actually, a completely different kind of magic, you can no longer learn the other magic. For example, if you are a mage and you join this guild you can no longer train your mage skills. Also, as you grow stronger in Clerical Magic you will become less and less attached to the source of you mage/shaman/druid magic which means if you were a master of Mage magic by the time you become a master of Cleric magic you won't be able to do Mage magic. Basically, better you cleric magic, worse your other magic. This is to prevent people from being OP. The only magic this doesn't effect is enchanting magic of items, unless it was evil enchantments. This is because the Patrons can give you the ability to imbue things with their power. Basically if you could "enchant a sword" now you can "bless the sword". But again, the blessing's power is equal to your ability with clerical magic. Just think before using it.

These are the robes of the guild.

Clerics and ranks equal to cleric use These-Cleric Skins

High Clerics and ranks equal to High Cleric use These-High Cleric Skins

I really don't want these guilds of magic to become a bunch of bad rpers. Please all those who are accepting apps to these types of guilds don't accept members just to make your guild grow get to know them in-game to make sure they have good rp.

That's the point of me accepting apps Ambros. I'm not going to just add people for the sake of it, they'd better have a nice application

Thats why Sala will be doing most of the apps. In fact he will do them all unless I specifically tell someone to send me it. That's also why they have to come talk to a High Cleric, Teacher, or me after their app is accepted.

Can we post apps, here?

If not, can I PM you, Thrym?

When/if this gets approved you post them here unless I tell you to PM me (which will be very rare).

((Very cool. I would have joined in an instant about a month ago, but my character has evolved quite a bit and now has truckloads on his plate. Hoping that I can come back to this, but I'll have way less time on the server next year, so maybe it was just never fated to happen.))

I would like to ask why one cannot be a cleric under God? A purist. Obviously not just anyone can be given such a title, but my prayers do not go via some lesser being. God hears me and, occasionally, delivers an answer. To join your order I would want to serve under God only.

Also I was thinking of pulling together religious texts to create a recommended reading ((a bible, if you will)) to attempt to guide Aegis ((or whatever the new name)) so that it never returns to its current state of undead freedom due to our iniquities. God wanted to test us mortals, and so far we have failed our trials.

Having a patron does not mean ye can't speak to God. The Patrons are ta ones God sent ta watch out fer us. His representatives if ye will.

*sits in thought and begins to talk to the Patrons in prayer*

The patrons 'ave told meh tat they will not stand in ta way of any wantin to be close ta God. That is the goal of this order, to serve God. Picking a Patron is picking an advocate. Someone ye can grow close to who will vouch for yer character ta God. I will not stop ye from being a purist but please know that this isn't ta easiest to 'ave done which is why Rebekah and Jacob originally created the system of havin' a Patron. If ye feel ye can go to God without havin' a patron shape yer character so be it but know it is difficult to be a cleric of God without first havin' a Patron shape ye. ((In other words if you put God down as your patron will be much harder for your app to be accepted))\

About tat book. I'd like ta speak with ye about it some time.
