The Anthos Outriders

Some Information on The Anthos Outriders
1. The Outriders are explorers wishing to find new lands and discover the secrets of the earth.

2. The outriders are lead by a group of five people: a Terrain Master (the leader of the Outriders), a Land Master (second in command), an Ocean Master (the leader of maritime expeditions), a Plains master (the leader of open terrain expeditions , a forest master (the leader of hidden expeditions).

3. We are explorers. We will start an expedition when we have enough members and money.

4. We will send out small groups to help those in need, spread our name and map out the land.

5. We do not have a base because we are travellers and are constantly on the move.

The lore of the Anthos Outriders: ((Work in progress))

The beginning

Cevez Astrack's father, Arberton Astrack, was a great warrior of men. he fought many battles and came back victorious on many occasions. When Cevez was born he was expected, from the age 7, to be trained as a warrior like his father, until, when grave news arrived to Cevez's mother: Arberton had died whilst Cevez was 6. When Cevez became 7 his mother died of a Diesease, she died in the night and Cevez was then sent to the kingdom of the elves to be raised. Cevez came to have a love for maps and wondered what was further than the borders of Aegis and decided that when he was old enough, He'd leave the elves and adventure far from the known lands of Aegis.

A start

When Cevez became 20 he headed off to the kingdom of men to search for followers, to take on the journey abroad. He then realised that to set off on such an adventure he would need to raise money, he decided to, as was his passion, become a cartographers apprentice. It turned out that Cevez was an unmatched skill in cartography. When he finished his apprenticeship he started to sell his own maps. Cevez soon became famous for his accurate and detailed maps, word of his skill spread quickly and many people came to marvel at his work. One dwarf, Zernorch (pronounced Zer-nor-ch (as in loch)), who was very interested in maps spend hours in Cevez's shop, he would talk to Cevez about the maps. Once the dwarf raised the topic of what hadn't been discovered yet, Cevez told the dwarf, who had now become his freind, that he wanted to explore the lands beyond the known world. They decided to raise money to buy a ship and hire a crew.

Gathering allies

When they had raised enough money to buy a ship and hire a crew, Cevez and Zernorch started to look for people willing to go on their adventure with them. At first they couldn't find anyone, but as word of their search started to get out people became interested. The first person to volunteer was Ze'rin a young man of the age of about 17. The second person to volunteer was Varn a dwarf who had just come of age. The next 2 to volunteer were some orc brothers called Va'rg and Za'rg. Then another human came along he was called Scenid. The final member of the group was an elf called Lor'cen. Cevez then hired a ship and crew, and prepared to set off.

The first voyage

The adventurers travelled south in search of new lands. The voyage was rough but the ships crew were skilled and in the end they found the new land they were looking for. They disembarked and saw that they were in a huge desert. There was a mountain range in the distance; the group decided to head towards the mountains. Trekking across the desert nearly killed them. In the end they found the mouth of a valley, at the end of the valley they found a small ruin. On the doorway into the ruin they saw some symbols, Cevez ordered for them to be copied down. He then entered the ruin.

The ruin

Inside the ruin was a staircase leading downwards, Cevez lit a torch and lead the party downstairs. They continued on down for nearly a mile but somehow the air had stayed fresh. In front of them was a huge tunnel which had not been carved by hand and chisel but by lava and fire, the floor was perfectly smooth, if one of the party spoke it would echo for a while afterwards. After what had felt like days of walking, they were still in the tunnel but the air was no longer fresh or cool, it was very hot and claustrophobic. They then finally reached the end of the tunnel and found a huge cavern, there were stalactites the size of houses. There was a path around the perimeter of the cavern, there was also another tunnel on the opposite side and there was a stone on a pedestal with the runes they had seen on the entrance and also letters of the common tong. In the centre of the cavern there were six black eggs surrounded by a black cloud. Cevez picked up the tablet. Then as they entered the cavern a huge crash shock them and a stalactite fell from the roof and shattered into millions of pieces. The crash had come from the other tunnel and as they watched a huge shadowy beast climbed out. The group turned and ran, they continued to run until they reached the ship. When they looked back they saw that the monster had chased them. The ship set of as soon as possible. When they came within a couple of miles of Aegis the monster stopped following them and landed on an uninhabited island.

Revelation

When they returned they found that their journey had become famous. They were questioned by many people about their journey, they explained in great detail about the journey, but when they were asked about the meaning of the runes on the doorway they could not answer. When things had settled down, Cevez decided to try and decipher the runes. After deciphering the letters he went on to working out the meaning of the words. Once Cevez had mastered the language he tried to work out what it had said on the doorway after a few weeks of work he finally had the whole passage which read:

"In the tunnels below, a terror is bound in the deep. To enter the shadows domain is to release it upon you, it will hunt your you and your people into complete extinction. Ra'nor can be bound by the Arrow of Binding which has been hidden in the caves to hold the monster at bay, if he is not bound he will be your bane."

Cevez realised that this meant that the monster was going kill him in the end unless he bound it. When he told the monks about this they sent a small group to retrieve the arrow.

The Jungle

After his first success Cevez found it easy to recruit more followers. In the end he had seven ships full of people. They set off east to discover what riches awaited them. The monster Ra'nor started to follow the ships but didn't attack because of the amount of people there. After a long voyage they were confronted with a huge jungle. They ventured into the jungle and they trekked for several days. Ra'nor still didn't attack because it was unable to get through the canopy of the jungle. The adventurers discovered an ancient civilisation. As they wondered through the ruins they saw lots of gold hidden in the ruined houses, all but those that were on the original voyage plundered the riches of the ancient city. Cevez and those who had been with him from the beginning continued onwards until they could see a temple on a hill, the temple was not in ruin like the rest of the city but it was coated in soot and ash. There was one clear stone and on the stone there were some runes, these Cevez recognised since they were the same as those that had spelt out his doom. Cevez translated the runes and finally he had worked out the full meaning:

"This is what happens to those that defy Iblees, this temple shall stand as a mark of it. So to all those willing to enter this place a doom will come to thee and thine companions."

It was already too late because in their plundering some of the company had already entered the temple. Cevez stood suddenly and said "We must leave this place at once, for we are all doomed." and to that a rumbling began as if to say "You will not leave, your doom is nigh". All was silent except for the rumbling, and then a scream from within the temple. Cevez yelled "FLEE!!!" and started to run back whence they came commanding all those he could find to retreat. When they reached the ships they hauled the anchors and set sail back for Aegis as fast as the wind would allow. In the chaos that ensued from the retreat Ra'nor made his strike, he tore the sails of the lead ship and killed all those on board when he discovered that Cevez had boarded another ship he sunk the ship and flew away because the other ships had now settled down and prepared to fight Ra'nor, and although he could not be killed by arrows he could still be hurt and disabled by them. The total losses of the journey amounted to 211 dead, 115 injured and 21 missing.

((er... what exactly will this guild be doing? Too me, it just seems like another waste of time of a guild. What will this bring to Aegis/Asulon, and since horses haven't been implemented are you going to do the same thing they did in Monty Python?))

So... you people are mercenaries... perhaps?

For my reckoning, I suggest expanding upon every aspect you have in store and making it more original.

There are many guilds like this...

So... Are you supposed to be an explorer's guild or something?

Speaking of exploring I had circumnavigated Aegis' borders and I am half way at doing the same to Asulon's borders... ((the makers of the world left some pleasant suprises for me :D))
