[MAGIC] - What's YOUR take, and what are YOUR ideas?

By making magic race specific you limit what a person can do as their character. Say an elf wants to learn to become a shaman or a human wants to to be a healer or a druid. If they are only able to cast predetermined it also takes some of the mystery of searching for other kinds of magic which could defiantly add to the RP.

This is just a layout of how it could work.

You start with branches of magic that have a network beneath them.

LIFE (the lighter side of magic for those who follow a path of healing )

-Druid ( some healing and the ability to control nature ex. grow trees, have more control over animals and giant spiders =>)

-Healer ( strongest healing spells and protection buffs )

-Life knights ( some healing but with more physical and self protection buffs )

ELEMENTAL ( or arcane with the different elements )

-Fire/Lava

-Ice/Water

-Lightning/Air

-Earth/Stone

DARK ( not all are necessarily evil )

-Shaman ( heavy damage spells )

-Death Knight ( some damage spells with more physical buffs )

-Death rouge ( some damage spells and confining spells and dodge/crit strike buffs)

-Necromancy

you could possibly throw some kind of generalist in the mix for those who wish to cast but without a moral path attached to it.

As for keeping it some what race might be attached to specific types (orc shaman, elf druid ....). Instead of barring say a human from learning druidic magics elves might just have amplified power as a druid over any other race.

But ya a rough idea of how i think it should work.

Ya this sounds really thought out and good. The reason is obvious. It is a total copy off WoW. You aren't the only one here who has played WoW so don't rip their ideas and give them no cred.

We want something more original for the land of Aegis, maybe keepmthe ideas but change the names, and such, because it is way too similar.

those names are very common. WoW didn't come up with them.

Looking at the spells for different races, the one thing I thought was that the human "portal to ____" spells should be the four race capitals, not including the temple and haven in there. My suggested order of portal spells is, respectively in order of tier, Al'Khazar, Kal'Urguan, Sanjazar, and Laurelin.

Also, force ride is a... strange... idea.

Instead of having everyone having spells to go to all the capitals, and since we already have a soy stone to go to our own capital, there should be one additional spell.

So every race has a soul stone (there own capital) and a "ally" spell.

The ally spell (someone think of a good name for it) would take you to your races ally's city. So a dwarf can't TP to orcs but maybes humans. And orcs and elves and so on.

Hey I have some questions about the magic system that the wiki doesn't cover. First, how do you cast? I know it's with a golden hoe but what do you click? Second, how do you get the next teir?

if two or more humans grouped together and used the mana regenerate spell to eachother, they could both gain full mana easy... very easy!!

i dont like that

Agreed, the human magic swapping will need to be nerfed in some way. Also, it makes no sense for a portal to use all mana. Maybe 50% would make more sense. Also, Even though I'm human, crowd controlling someone for 10 seconds even at low levels of magic is kind of ridiculous. Maybe there is a chance of it backfiring on you?

Human mana pooling could be nerfed by making the mana swaps equivalent (boring) or by giving it an extra reagent cost - redstone dust perhaps, or something less stackable/requires crafting.

How about magical notch apples ^^

The original lore of the Ascended was that they were very weak physically, but their lacking in that aspect was replaced by incredible strength in Magick and Intelligence.

Being Ascended, I think we need more spells. As we are a Noble race with a bloodline that can be traced back to the Aengul, I think that we should have abilities to summon Angels (Default skins that charge around and hit anything non-Ascended at high speeds), restore life, and because we are so freaking far away from everything, teleport.

Backstory of the last part above:

It is a day of darkness across Aegis, and the Ascended left within the walls feel a sudden dark magick and they can feel terror across the land. They quickly arm their staves and blink through the Portcullis (the guards aren't there), bracing themselves against the frigid, slippery conditions that continue through White Road.

*Ten Minutes Later*

The Undead Retreat (a.k.a: The Ascended have finally reached Kal'Urguan!)

Their spirits of battle crushed, the crestfallen team turns around.
