I'd like to thank my good friend and colleugue Marius for helping me on this book. If it wasn't for you, I would not have the data I require. I would also like to thank my publisher as you...well...Publish my books! I'm very glad you are able to help me improve my books and help me correct any errors I may make before official printing. Also, The Equestrian Scientific Society for letting me use some terraformers so Marius and I could study the Firefish habitat.

What is a Firefish; Chapter 1

What exactly is a Firefish. Is it a mythological demon fish? Or is it something a drunken peasent might come up with. Well, it is neither. A Firefish is a very interesting creature indeed. If you have ever stumbled upon the abandoned fortresses that have been buried under centuries of dirt, you would know of the local inhabitants known as Silverfish. The Silverfish is a distant cousin of the Firefish. A Silverfish is grey in color and prefers to hide in the stone blocks of the fortress. They are normally passive and leave you alone but once you provoke one, the entire nest comes after you. Firefish and Silverfish in this way are the same, but also different. A Firefish makes it's nest in well, fire. So, they are quite easy to avoid. Firefish normally do not bade well in cold climates and therefore prefer deserts, forests and plains, where the occasional rain does not bother them much. The Firefish are about the size of a fire pixie or sprite. However, a Firefish is more likely to singe you if you come to close to its nest rather then a sprite or pixie throws large balls of fire at you.

Biology of the Firefish; Chapter 2

Now I have sufficiently explained what a Firefish is, I shall now explain its biology. First off, Firefish may reproduce asexually or bisexually. Normally bisexually when in large swarms. A Firefish mates by inserting it's Fertilizer Shaft into a female Firefish's lower abdomen. Where eggs are normally stored. When the eggs have been fertilized, a female Firefish will lay the eggs in the hottest part of their habitat. It usually takes 6-8 weeks before the eggs hatch. A larvae Firefish is no more then a glow worm at most. Feeding off the embers of the fire or lava they hatch in until maturity. This usually takes a few weeks. A larvae Firefish is so small that the only way to see one is through a finely cut glass lens. Firefish have two stages of life. Larvae and Adult. They do not have a inbetween. Adult Firefish look like Silverfish except smaller and less aggressive. A Firefish usually eats whatever is thrown into their home. Including but not limited to: Tools, Resources, Foodstuffs, Armor, Weapons, Explosives, etc. Firefish swarm whatever is thrown in the fires and consume them. Some items seems to have a interesting effect on Firefish. For example, when a bone is thrown into a habitat, Firefish, after consuming the bone, seem to have increased vigor and stamina for a short amount of time. Perhaps it is the composition of the bone, we are not sure. Firefish usually live in household fireplaces and firepits. These are known as Domestic Firefish. Domestic Firefish are found everywhere. Then we have Wild Firefish. Wild Firefish usually live in lava or magma lakes underground or aboveground. Wild Firefish are much rarer and seem much more delighted when faced with visitors in their habitats. Usually consuming them bit by bit, while the magma and lava burns them. While this sounds like a gruesome way to go, you would already be dead so your corpse is simply feeding unfed creatures.

((Rp it out. Thats what I've been doing. They are small, so they don't have to be mobs. I mean honestly, not every single thing has to be physical. Dragons for example, they can easily be rped out, not battling of course))
