Our Accepted Town Charter

What has driven your town to become a city? or Why is this settlement choosing to become a city?

Kal'Dwain is choosing to become a city for several reasons, the most important

being space. This is quite an obvious reason and is touched on two sections ahead, but it's also quite important. We need more housing, we need more space to provide a less cramped atmosphere, and we need a realistic aproach to land distribution. Another reason is my greed! Yes, Darius Irongut, is greedy as all Dwarfs should be. We were cursed by Iblees and this should not be ignored. While I may seem nice, warm, and happy on the inside, perhaps you will discover my true goals sometime? Regaurdless, this is a very minor reason. Another extremely important reason is location. Although close to the capital, we are bordered by a river/ocean. If we were on the same side of the river, then we most most likely keep to ourselves, limmiting our size as a town, but since we aren't, why not go for it? We might as well use a bit more of that huge Dwarven territory. Lastly, is the prestige. Would you prefer to say.. "I am from the simple town of Kal'Dwain" (I am of humble begginings?) or "I was born in the city of Kal'Dwain, Heart of the Dwarven Kingdom" (Yes, Karik is the mind or brain?). I believe all of these reasons to be valid, but read on, as I believe our intentions may be more clear in the next few sections.

How active has your town been in the world? What history and events have occurred in your town? or What do you see this city growing to become?

To the world, Kal'Dwain is a serene mining town, filled with the hustle and bustle of

traders: to villains, it is a place where they may find all they were looking for, in a place they least expected it; and to the Dwarven nation, it is place where they can receive the materials they desire, regardless of where it comes from.Kal'Dwain is much more then a town and in many ways it years to be much more then an average city. The population of Kal'Dwain has risen dramatically in the past few weeks and we will need more land for housing. We have received several offers from farmers that wish to till and cultivate the surrounding lands (Many of which will work on other landowners) and a smaller number of patrons and rich folk who wish to spend their time in peace and build manors. This can all be possible with our expansion into a city. We, the government and leadership of Kal'Dwain invasion our city as a somewhat busy place, with a slightly less busy criminal underworld. Seeing as these goals are starting to become a reality, why stop here, as a town? Becoming a city will allow to take the next step and become a more powerful player on the world scale, while still operating under the authority of the Dwarven nation.

How will your town evolve to adapt to this growth?

Kal'Dwain will adapt to the growth in several ways, which include:

  • More Space for Scenic Reasons
As a Dwarven town built within a mountain, Kal'Dwain is slightly constrained space wise. Yes, we have an Inn and a mine nearby, but in order to truly make the area look great, we need more access to it. I would love to see farms, spaced out in the area, just as was done.. in well.. Skyrim! I do not seem to emulate Skyrim, only take
into account it's well spaced atmosphere and buildings. For example, farms being slightly placed away from the city and along roads, which will be discussed in detail in the next section.

  • Farming/Farm Houses/Farm System
I intend to "ration" the newly gained land that we receive for city status in different areas. Most of it will go toward new farming plots on the outskirts of our city. These farmers will be able to sell their wheat or do with their wheat as they please, as long as they pay the original property fee (to buy the farm) and provide an Elvin
Weekly quota of around 3-12 stacks of wheat depending on the size and amount of workers on the farm. Will now be gained through the charter expansions.

  • The Quota System/Mining Guild
The Mining Guild, an official Dwarven institution, is a somewhat medium sized group that provides a large amount of ores for the Dwarven nation. Each miner is to gather a certain amount of ore each week, which will be stockpiled and then given to the capital, with around a 25% cut taken in by Kal'Dwain to provide money for the
baron and to pay for anything the city may need. Obviously, the miners living here will require housing.

  • New Housing
Probably the most obvious factor, new housing, should definitely be considered. Kal'Dwain, pulling in around 5 new citizens a week as of now, will need more housing. A new housing district and possibly a slums will be created if given the chance, which can only be provided by us attaining city status. Currently you can only live inside
the mountain and we hope for this to change soon, by providing a small section of outdoor housing for those that wish to pay a little bit more for it.

  • The Wolf Pack Den
The Wolf Pack, a large "criminal" organization in Aegis, intends to live within our city. An expansion would give them the opportunity to have more space to operate and a nicer city to live in.

  • Stonehill Harbor
A new harbor that will allow for the trade in Dwain to be greatly expanded. It will also provide an area for military fortification run by the cities overseer.
