The Seventis Religion

((Seventis has its own set of gods and myths in order to make it a more unique addition to Asulon. I greatly urge the people of Seventis to have their characters choose a patron god and show faith. This would make the Seventis Religion a fore runner in Asulon. All pictures are from the game Guild Wars and are simply to paint the picture of the gods physique. Thank you.))

You find a small book in a shop and you decide to flip through its pages.

The Gods

Balthakrieg: Chief of Gods. The mighty god of War, Courage, Strategy, and fire. He is patron to Warriors and Leaders. Balthakrieg blesses an army in battle based on their loyalty and sacrifice to him. He fights with two blazing war hounds, one named respectively Offense and one named Defense. Balthakrieg wields a longsword of divine gold and dawns armor forged from divine platinum. He carries a torch into battle called the Brazier of Balthakrieg. This can be found near Pine Harbor atop the tallest mountain. A boar is sacrificed to him before war. On his holy day there is a festival filled with sparring, bon fires, and feasts.

Garth: The powerful god of Death, Plague, The Underworld, and sunsets. He is patron to Ritualists and Necromancers. In Seventis, worshipping Garth is not an evil thing. Garth is by no means “evil”. Garth and Iblees actually fought for control of the underworld at one point. He was able to keep the underworld untainted but Iblees took control of the deepest, most hellish region; The Nether. After the heroes of Aegis banished Iblees and destroyed the Nether, Garth reformed the Nether and sends the worst of mortals to suffer there. He wields a giant scythe that reaps the living souls off Asulon when they pass to his realm. When plague strikes, it is said Garth is angered. He is worshipped on his holy day by sacrificing a lamb under candle light.

Aeriel: Adopted into the Seventis religion, she is the goddess of Light, Justice, harmony, and Sunrise. She is patron to Healers and Paladins. She is said to fuel Healers’ powers to restore. Aeriel is the end of wars, and bringer of peace. Many see her as a beacon of hope in the darkest of times. Her holy day is honored by the giving of Roses. In other areas of Asulon Red Rose Day is not dedicated to her, but the people of Seventis see it as a generous act to praise her.

Naura: The goddess of Nature, Archery, Scouts, and Animal Life. She is patron of Rangers and Druids. Naura is said to be petrified in a tree that represents her harmony with nature. She is said to guide “the purist arrows” from mortal archers. Naura sheds tears of saplings when trees are cut, which continues the cycle of wildlife. She is worshipped on her holy day by leaving an offering at her entwined tree.

Sagas

The Balthakrieg Saga

For years the flames of war waged on, and those who lifted blades in glory grew weary began to falter.

Balthakrieg dawned his sacred armor and flashed his divine longsword affront his troops and spoke with a voice so powerful that the very ground shook with tremors and split with quakes.

Balthakrieg called out, "Courage! Do not fall back. Raise your weapons and light your hearts with bravery. You are my faithful soldiers and you must all be steadfast and strike with great force. Those who charge like lions and slash like mantis will have their deeds passed through eternity and after."

He then shouted to his warhound called Offense and the army ran forth with a thousand golden hearts and iron blades. The forces met in a blaze of blood and gore. Balthakrieg granted the soldiers tactical skill which allowed them to find the enemies weak points. He sparked a torch and directed the men to victory. The enemy was struck down and their city saved from pyre.

The Garth Saga

Laoi ran and shrieked for she was outcast from Oren. The people of towns looked down upon her with shame and scorn. Laoi took refuge in a misty cave and cursed the gods for her suffering.

She blamed the gods' lust for power as the cause of her disheartening. "Damn the gods! Only Iblees can save my soul!" she cried. Out from the rocky ground rose two skeletal hands and the piercing chill of the Underworld. Then the cave echoed with the stern voice of Garth, "Do not be tempted, for Iblees is evil. Laoi, pledge undying devotion to me and I shall grant you the power to put my corpses and spirits at your disposal."

She quickly pledged allegiance in this left and the next and assumed her control over the corpses and minions of Aegis. Laoi was the first Necromancer. During this time Garth was waging a hellish war in the Underworld with Iblees over control of the most torturous region, The Nether. Ibless triumphed with trickery and deceit. When he was toppled Garth made Laoi a Demi-God and crowned her the Queen of Death.

The Aeriel Sagas

The ascended her acolytes, the gods her children. Aeriel nursed the Divnes and brought forth the creators of the universe. Balthakrieg was her favored child so she granted him the Chiefship of Gods.

Aeriel guided the paths of her mortal students, The Ascended, in their lives of constant combat with the Undead. She fueled their magic and nurtured injured back to pristine health. Aeriel was the most active in the lives of the common people in Aegis.

The Ascended spoke her word and she blessed the mortals.

The Naura Saga

The earth was barren and empty, scarred by Balthakrieg's flames of war. Naura pondered and brought into the world the first Dove. She remarked, "Beautiful! My creations will inhabit Aegis!". And thus she teemed every forest, every river, every valley with beings of dust and water.

She sat content and admired her work, "Balthakrieg will be so pleased!". Naura stood up from her divine throne when an ingenious idea popped into her mind. She was so lonely, only with the boring company of her godly siblings. "I shall forge a friend!" And from the silkiest of dust and the purist of water, she created the first four humans. She loved variety so Naura made one stay the same, one short, one green, and one nimble.

Her friends kept her company all the day long, until Balthakrieg was angered by the tiny mortals crawling all over his realm. Naura's sacred tree held the magic to destroy the creations, so she desperately enfused herself with the tree to protect her friends.

Without Naura's guidance the creatures went wild, reproduced, and set its course. Naura forever suffers so that we may live long and fruitful lives.

The Arkos Saga

As knowledge became discovered, Arkos began to glow a mysterious purple, blue, and orange color. Where the purple fell, the first three inventors were created, and these were to become the helpers of society, creating the pickaxe, shovel, and axe to help civilization. As it so happened, each of the inventors had more children, each one bearing a special gift for the Aegis. Where the blue fell, the first three alchemists were created. These created potions, poisons, and ale. The one that created potions had many children, each of them creating a new kind of potion. The one who created poison also had many children, each creating a new poison. The last one, the one of ale, had even more children, each of them looking for their place in the expanse of the world.

Finally, as the orange fell, three more men were created. These men were named Logic, History, and Science. Logic was a man who would look at his surroundings before acting. History looked at the past before acting, and Science looked to the future while acting. Logic helped the people around him utilize their surroundings for everything they would need to survive. History told tales of the heroes that banished Iblees and of the past of the world, and Science helped the alchemists and inventors while searching for mistakes in their apparatus. When the three last men died, they passed on their knowledge to the world through a long forgotten item created by Science, a relic called Science's Knowledge, a book said to contain all of the knowledge of science, but as Science died, it disappeared into the Nether.

As time passed on, Arkos soon disappeared from the minds of most men, and the inventors' and alchemists' families soon disappeared into the void, and Arkos lay down his head in a forest near the heart of Asulon, thinking that he was never to be seen again.

How is the clergy and worship organized?

If would recommend a catholic type model, in which there are priests in every town which are all controlled by the cathedral in Ascella. Either the king of head bishop would be head of the religion.

Hey Renati, my only question about the Gods is if there is a God of education and strategy?
