The Arcane Delvers

About Us:

We are not a strict order of mages nor exclusive cult. Rather we are a causal magical brotherhood of adventurers going where our thirst for discovery leads us be it plumbing the depths of lost tombs or merely going on a journey to a distant city. Congregating together for security from those who would despise magic-users as well as companionship.
Our Founding:
Tis not the most exciting nor long tale mind ye, for we hold no ancient historys. I was wandering around Arethor in Old Asulon after being assaulted by some thugs of unknown origin. They had even taken my multi colored staff, so I was much disconsolate. But then I happened upon the Sorcerer Richard. In speaking to him we shared stories of abuse at the hands of the common folk, but also tales of adventure and hidden knowledge. The Sorcerer not only gave me a stave to replace mine, but something more valuable. An idea. We conversed long and felt as the saying goes there is safety in numbers. And as ye may have figured, we begin searching out others and in doing so laid the origins of this companionship. The sorcerer has been gone for many a year but the guild endures and flourishes with I, Polgrath, at it's helm. We grow in power and rise as the proverbial phoenix does.

Our positions are

Delver/Member: A magic-user  already skilled (Accepted MA) in their respective craft keen on discovery, protection  and power. An ornate staff  and housing in the tower is provided as a membership perk. 

Mageshield: A stalwart warrior skilled in martial combat and serving as vital protection to magical brothers on dangerous adventures. Fighting equipment, room, and most meals provided.

Mageshadow: A branch of the Mageshields well-versed in the arts of stealth and deception serving as the eyes, ears, and oft daggers of the Arcane Delvers. Responsible special operations and sensitive missions. Must be discrete and skilled in combat. Can try out for postion after two weeks tenure as Mageshield. Equipment and housing is provided.

We welcome ye of any creed and allegiance for we care not what other guilds or nations ye belong to. Now for the very few rules we abide by.


Rules
I. If ye wish to join us as magic user ye must present a show of your arcane prowess to keep out cheap hacks and unskilled apprentices (Need to be Approved Magic user grandfathered in or have accepted Magic App)
II. If ye are Mageshield one must put the well being of magic using bretheren above all else
III. Thou shall do their utmost to have thy brothers in delvings' backs.
IV. Thou shalt not discriminate against practioners of dark magic or holders of immoral stances.

You come across a massive ruin of ancient design, strange sounds and lights emanate from within.

While at a local bar you see two dark hooded figures in the corner discussing in a whispered conversation. You can't quite make out what they're saying but you clearly hear the word "artifact".

Walking down the Anthos Highway you come across a masked man with a sword threatening a hooded figure, claiming he is a necromancer.

*seemingly minutes after the previous bird left, another arrives startling Polgrath to nearly fall out of his chair momentarily. Chuckling a bit at himself he opens another application. Glancing over the text he gets a quill and prepares a response.

Aye ye impressed in your forthrightness when we met in Arethor, I once knew a great man of like name to yours. Perhaps ye will follow in his footsteps. Welcome to the Mageshields. I shall contact ye again with further information

Polgrath receives another letter, his form for responding to applicants not completed yet. A bit flustered he breaks the seal on the ragged application and reads what is contained within. After a bit of thought he once again puts pen to paper and responds.

Ah Thomas, ye seemed a man of convictions when we met in person. I see here that ye are interested in learning the magical arts. Unfortunately I am incapable of educating as is Richard. Perhaps in good time ye shall achieve the knowledge ye seek. As ye seek to be a member rather then a mageshield perhaps we can find some purpose for ye in a non-guardianship role. Ye are accepted and I shall send word of further detail shortly.
