Dwarven Ethics

Okay, first of I would like experienced dwarven roleplayers like: Hiebe, Kjell, Bazian, Zezimus, Gulroid, Rasun, Kilgrim (I could go on with this list for a long time but I'll stop here.

to be the only ones to actually post on this post. And to them I have this to say only actually post if you have something to say that the new dwarves and such will learn of - Like how to act in certain situations, also terms to use when around diffrent people.

In this post you can post everything from how to act in war, around nobles/ranking officials, honoraries to elders and just really how to act as a dwarf.

First off:

Lad and lass: lass a girl or young woman. - This means if the female you're talking to is older then yourself, don't call her lass.

Lad a boy or young man. - This means the same, you wouldent if you're 150 years old call a 700 year old dwarf lad. - This right here annoys the hell out of me since it makes no sence what so ever.

War ethics:

Don't shout random stuff (Hodor, fer something, blablah) randomly. The only times when it would be accepted to yell a battlecry is when your commander for example: A king, Overseer, Lord Marshal, Longbeard etc. That is currently commanding you is finished talking and he yells a battlecry, this is when you can start spamming the chat as you please with either Hooodoor,Fer something or blablabla.

This means, shut the heck up both in ooc and in rp when one of the commanders is talking.

Thrym had this to add:

This was said at but I feel the need to say it with a stress on discipline. If you aren't one of the commanders in a battle do NOT speak. Dwarves are supposed to be amazing at war so we shouldn't be a bunch of undisciplined drunks. You shout a warcry when you are about to charge into battle and being Dwarves a few insults are acceptable (Don't have your character make more than 3!). Other than that, be silent! You need to hear what your commanders say and do it to be an efficient fighting force. The Dwarves should be a wall of Iron, Diamond, and Gold. Silent, deadly, and acting at the word of a commander.

TL;DR

Stop spamming the chat in war and listen to your commanders! BE LIKE A MILITARY

How to adress another dwarf of higher rank or one that is older then you!

If a dwarf is of a higher rank then yourself then it's a no brainer that you wouldent talk to him like a impudent brat. You would adress him by his RANK. Example:

Longbeard: would ye stop doin' tat'?

Young dwarf: I duu wat' I want.

Longbeard: Stop runnin' aroond 'ittin' shoit.

Young: Dwarf Yer not mah dad!

BAD!

Longbeard Would ye stop doin' tat'?

Young dwarf Aye, sir (or Longbeard). Sorreh aboot tat'

GOOD!

Basically you wouldent IRL if a cop asked you to stop doing something, then you wouldent yell at him or act disrespectful.

^ its the same with any noble of the city you live in. Anart the nobles is the Grandaxes, in Alras its the Goldhands, in Dwain it's the Ironguts etc.. etc..

If you want the attention of one which is higher ranked then yourself then it's not: Oi! ye. Or Oi!, Hodor!. It's: Lord marshal! Ah 'ave e' request/Question/need of assistance. or Longbeard Sir, Ah am in need ove yer assistance.

Another thing here is that if a Character is somewhat important then you can fully rp having seen/know off/or been told about the character. For example: A king you would not have to ask who he is. A overseer, Noble or high ranking officer of the hold you live in you could recognice to some extent aswell.

Another thing, unless you are closly related by blood, a good friend or another king then you should always at any time formal or just in the streets never refeer to the any of the kings by name only. It's okay with for example: King Bazian but not with only Bazian.

In a formal meeting or occasion all should refer to a king as: Me king (if he rules the land you live on), Yer majesty (if he does not).

To those listed all the way at the top, feel free to add anything to this post. It's just basically here so that new dwarves and some old don't make mistakes in RP with the way they act and also to keep war situations calmer so that we dont have 50 ppl shouting random **** while you're yelling at them to get in a formation.

I think every lower clan or clanless dwarf should speak with full respect to a Higher clan member. and younlings, even from the same clan, should speak with respect to their elders. i had multiple times that someone was disrespectfull to me while i am the oldest dwarf in Anart... it annoys me because Longbeard's RP is an respect/honour crazy dwarf with mental problems, he gets mad at younglings to quick, but they dont understand that....

((could you yell hodor while fighting?

While engaging in combat aslong as there is no orders being yelled then you can feel free to yell HOOODOR to your heart's content

Disrespecting a king of another Hold should be frowned upon, but it could create some great RP. Who's to say the king can't simply retaliate and have a bit of fun with the other clan? But yes, overall, it wouldn't make sense for Dwarves to not address a king as such, unless they wish to offend said king.

I agree with this. I hope that we can add a little more uniqueness if we do this. Currently other nations are having this problem and it would be great to show some uniquess. Who knows, we could even get some more people this way!

I hope I count as an old enough Dwarf, I still remember Balin luchian ;)

You count as a old dwarf ofcourse, and you also had something to add so I see no problem.

I agree to some extent. Often if a dwarf is in the same clan as you he is related by blood and will be somewhat in your favor. Meaning that it wouldent really make sence for your character to be annoyed if he was refered to by his name.

But at any formal occation I agree with you fully. Even if a dwarf is your own brother he should at those times refer to you by your rank if you are higher then him. - A father/mother - son/daughter relationship can be a bit diffrent ofcourse all depending on how they were raised.

We need to have this in a dwarf app to the server showing what is good and bad things to do as a new dwarf.

To expand on that, we really should have clear and concise lore for all the races, linked on the app and shown in the players app that they've clearly read it... I've seen some rather ridiculous origin stories. Meh, just my two cents.
