OOC: 3.0 Dwarven Brainstorming

This post is for the dwarves to plan out their future in 3.0. Obviously, we are going to have a new city and new lands. We should decide what we the players want to do with them.

We have seen the sneak-peek posted by MediocreGamer and it looked amazing and epic. We can start brainstorming on future city ideas and the future of the dwarves.

Should the dwarves be secluded or actively near the entrance to their lands?

Should their literally be just one city or multiple allowed?

Suggest some great name ideas and architecture concepts.

Proposed Ideas:

A 3 tiered city. Have a part of the city above ground, high on the peaks, a second part within the mountain but not at bedrock level and then another part in the deep dark depths, where dark monsters roam and where the darker side of the dwarves is more prevalent.

Orzammar is a tiered city. Slums in the lowest-tier, run down area in the corner. Small, cheap and crowded housing. The 'lower' commons is on the same tier as the slums (dust town), houses are larger, nicer and not as crowded. The next tier up is the commons: standard sized houses, markets, taverns, etc. Above that is the noble tier where the clan halls, the palace and the hall of memories (library) go. Across a lava river is the grand temple and the arena (which double as the temple of Dungrimm).

Well, if it was possible to get Gimli, that would be awesome.

So, anyone have actual ideas?

This is what I warned against, you proliferate OOC agreements, much like the oft-complained about charter system and make dealings in OOC. I probably should lower my standard and expect little to no social development that will restore a sense of 'nationhood' to the RPers entering 3.0.

This is not some OOC agreement. This is just some interesting ideas players might want to see in future RP. When dealing with 3.0 and a place our characters have never heard of, we want to see how our RP in the future might create a society that is fun and creative to both new and current dwarves.

This post is merely for brainstorming. The nation developement has been going on with the dwarves if you have seen any of the recent changes in the government. No one is prouder of their nation and fellow countrymen then some good ole dwarves.

From now on, I hope everyone will provide constructive posts to the Dwarven future. Please do not try to rustle anyone's jimmies or push any buttons.

I am not antagonized, but I want to hope that for all the berating of OOC, that we can reserve these 'brainstorms' for our characters respectively to give forth when the time comes ;)

A cross between Orzammar from Dragon Age: Origins and Moria from LotR. Plz. Orzammar for the actual city and Moria for the underground beyond the city. As for names... needs to have the Kal'- prefix to maintain tradition...

Kal'Kjell?

I've always loved the cavern style Dwarven city concept. I feel it is a compromise between having a natural feel and being aesthetically pleasing at the same time. Though some Dwarves believe that a fully "carved" out city of a solid mountain would look better than the natural feel.

If you speak of the 'halfway-house creative', that doesn't pertain to what I say and is irrelevant.

Also, thanks for pointing out that I don't give a biased argument nor show favoratism, just because I was a Dwarf won't hold me back from speaking sternly about certain aspects.

PS: Willy's picture wins my vote so far.
