Zigge 10 Share Posted October 20, 2012 I would say that I agree to what many others have already said, mixed feelings and emotions about this. There were some things that were absolutly great, fantastic and some other things which were quite rotten in my opinion. I am mostly a very picky builder on minecraft and I spend most of my time building buildings on lotc which will serve a rp purpose and exist for a longer period, not just temporarily. I always get frustrated when you spend hours trying to collect the resources, build a nice rp structure and then when it's almost finished, it vanishes into thin air, becuase of a rollback or a crash. However, in this situation we all knew that this was just a temporary server and everything we built, every action we did would be removed when we change back to the main server. I did therefore not play on the temporary server for long, I felt that I could spend my time doing other stuffs while waiting for the main server. I also got a really bad gut feeling from all the buildings which were just built for survival, mining huts that went straight down, as well as other buildings which wasn't looking like anything decent at all. Someone should teach people how to build for once or suggest them to go into the tutorial part of the forum. On the other hand I did enjoy those structures which were built with great quality, shame that those will disappear tho. I did, as many others, enjoy the freedom with no regions, but there should still be a limit to it if you can't behave properly with the rules. The landscape looked like someone had puked all over it and then ignored cleaning up after them. Alec said this in OOC chat. The answers logical. Let those who were enjoying themselves on the temp. server resume having fun, while those refusing to go on don't. I keep myself to this philosophy. I cannot comment on the roleplaying part for I actually tried to avoid it as best I could on the temporary server.
simidimi12 (Symo) 70 Share Posted October 20, 2012 Honestly, I too love the freedom this temporary server is offering us. Unlike many other people, I think it provides more RP...
Esterlen 4499 Share Posted October 20, 2012 Having skeletons spawned on me with minimal RP brings me back to the good old days of the undead. :P
Drelik 865 Share Posted October 20, 2012 Another thing aside from the freedom. There was no law lol, so my character took 2 other bandits and went to like every town demanding half there harvests. Let's just say at the end of it all I became the Bread Bandit. But obviously it's better to have Ic law then not to ;) I think the core or everyone's e enjoyment after reading this is the no regions, thinking back, that's also what made Aegis awesome. ( at least for me)
Lexperiments 18 Share Posted October 20, 2012 I think that it was actually very fun. The whole dream-world storyline with Vardak, Bell, Rilath, and Brevias was GREAT, and I had an amazing time. I enjoyed that there were little to no permissions. It led to Aegis-like roleplay and let everyone just do what they wanted. It made SENSE that there was no IC law, and I liked it. I hope 3.0 will be like this. Also, we remember things from the dream, right? Someone said we don't.

Hylian the Heretic 233 Share Posted October 20, 2012 TBH, I loved every moment of it. Near complete freedom, perms, NOT HAVING TO WORRY ABOUT ITEMS, and there was just a general different rp attitude going on that felt good, almost like Aegis. Maybe it was so many people in one space, maybe it was the explosions, maybe it was the regioning or lack thereof, but I loved it.
Skippy 2466 Share Posted October 20, 2012 The temporary server was the most worst thing in LoTC history. You didn't even put your reasoning behind this. :???:

Strawberry114 43 Share Posted October 20, 2012 I loved it. Of course i wasn't blown up by tnt, no rped, etc. But I love the rp of being in a new world and not knowing anything about it. It reminded me of the start of Asulon
rsabella 0 Share Posted October 20, 2012 Personally I liked the free building, sure there were messes but mods can clean those up.
Lym 849 Share Posted October 20, 2012 Eventually, there was a point where it was pretty clear, but then GM's started abusing their powers, spawning way more mobs by the undead fort than the server could handle, spawning them far away from the fort than would make any sense, and started randomly blowing people up, and eventually giving out godmode. Eventually, there was a point when players kept ignoring the 30 minutes rule and returned to the fort, annoying the builders (which were given creative mode, not godmode) and GMs when in fact they were just trying to prepare an major event. Don't blame the Staff for things like this, there are always two parties involved... And about the random explosions: The first time, Tythus derped with a command, spawning way more TNT than intended. The times after that, GMs tried getting players out of the area. There were roleplay warnings shouted by me, everyone had enough time to leave the event area. GMs announced it as well, saying they'd kill everyone in the area if they would not leave. Those who didn't leave were blown up. I don't see the problem.

LeRenardNoir 413 Share Posted October 20, 2012 Personally, I did not play on the temp. server as it was something that did not interest me. From what I have seen here, I am of the opinion that we should find a common ground between what Asulon is and what the temporary server was. If we can find a balance, it would be ideal.
