Pnoynoy 108 Share Posted November 4, 2012 Yes and for selective few as i would not like to see empty shops everywere! And with perms for each item so that not everyone could sell anything.
Golden_Harvest_Richards 37 Share Posted November 4, 2012 perms for each item so that not everyone could sell anything. Remember we have to be realistic. The simpler the plugin the less chance we have of it having exploits and bugs. Also, keep in mind the fine line between making a 100% realistic RP experience and keeping the game fun and accessible for everyone.

nppeck 601 Share Posted November 4, 2012 As an idea, what if we added GM shops where they would buy seemingly worthless items to facilitate the economy. For example they could buy animal hides for very low prices to help bolster this part of the economy.

Aerinyes 402 Share Posted November 4, 2012 Would this be compatible with a physical currency plugin if one was recoded and implemented? I wonder how possible it would be to code a shop to do bartering? Say you wish to trade 9-12 iron ingots for a diamond.
ski_king3 0 Share Posted November 4, 2012 As an idea, what if we added GM shops where they would buy seemingly worthless items to facilitate the economy. For example they could buy animal hides for very low prices to help bolster this part of the economy. Hmm, I think this is a pretty good idea IF we implement a shop plugin. That being said, I really don't think we should implement a shop plugin again. While I do think it is helpful for people who play on less popular time zones (so I'm kinda biased since I don't, maybe I'm being a bit too insensitive), but the reason I don't like this is because it doesn't help people wishing to sell goods which cannot be produced with our current Minecraft mechanics, something which I think we should do our best to promote and appreciate. Now, imagine if all you need to do to set up a shop and earn minas is pay the rent on a stall, put in a shopkeeper and throw in some items. Well, great, selling your food, swords, and simple items is going to be very easy. But what if you're an alchemist, and you want to sell a number of interesting potions? Or an aspiring scholar who wishes to sell books he writes for profit? Or maybe you're just a blacksmith who makes each item special to the buyer, making not just swords, but all numbers of styles and special designs. I think this is the type of system we should aspire for, not the dull, MC mechanic shop system. Perhaps I am in the minority on this question, but I really think this is the system we should try to. It supports players who want to have more interesting occupations, which I think have genuinely increased in quantity and therefore quality since the removal of the shop plugin. Basically, I think the lack of a shop plugin makes roleplay fundamentally better, because it creates more dynamics for what our characters can feasibly create and sell. Thoughts? nppeck 601 Share Posted November 4, 2012 As a reply, we haven't really had a shop plugin in months. We haven't actually seen any of this develop so obviously we need something to change. We can't know until we try after all.

Rhisereld 317 Share Posted November 4, 2012 I like this a lot. It will fix a lot of problems associated with being in a bad timezone. As for what might realistically be in a shop, it is up to the players to provide quality roleplay. Not game mechanics.
