Lago 2572 Share Posted November 26, 2012 I'm pretty sure I've got a copy of Vaq's release of the old Aegis map somewhere.

The Best Basileus 97 Share Posted November 26, 2012 This is extremely... actually, this is what I thought this whole deal was from the start. However, I am unsure why we are leaving Asulon. Somebody is going to have to come up with a pretty dang good roleplay reason for this, and if what Native said the reason was is the reason we are leaving... We do have a save of "Adyton Island" in Asulon where the Lysistrata villagers live. these villages recently attacked the Dwarves and It wouldn't be much of a stretch for the Dwarves and their allies to attack and destroy Lysistrata ~ These villagers will attack a few destinations and we may hold events at world-downloaded chunks various players have kept of their cities for documenting the events. Once the Adyton Island event has concluded, the races of aegis follow the fleeing villagers through an eastern opening in the fog opened by the villagers. From here, we can stop at a few islands on the way to 3.0 while we finish the new map, enjoying different types of roleplay that we can decide upon by a player vote or contest to map-make these "pitstops". What are these villagers, robo-spartans with magical undead powers or something? They're the reason we're all leaving Asulon? ALL of us? If anybody can explain this better, I'd like to hear it. Redbaron™ 690 Share Posted November 26, 2012 Also just an idea but why not finish the current things in 3.0 now and then let us into the map. Then us the player base may "make" the rest of it and allow us to roleplay? The problem with that is it would make no RP sense because we flatten out a area, build in some structures. Then Terraform the land around it to suit it. So although that would be nice, it can't happen on the current map unless of course we terraformed back the area we flattened but then there would be odd structures around the city with natural looking land around it. A few other problems also arise that can't be disclosed for I fear I may be over stepping what I'm aloud to say.

That will be posted later on, what I've given you is some very bare bones - the LM's have created excellent lore that'll be shown when appropriate. Ned Lud 1260 Share Posted November 26, 2012 Bango Blackfoot rides through the Vale, mounted upon his sow, Pickle. Kinfolk, grab yer shovels!! I'll get th' piggies. We'll need th' moonshine and th' cake. Toss 'er on th' wagon 'n' we'll 'ead ter port!! Dreadful adventure this'll be I reckon, for true. Surely so. Many long songs at sea, says I. Yar... Bango pig-whistles and trots off down the road, chasing omens. [Psst. Back up the 3.0 map on a hard-drive once every week or so. And can an FM please remove Vaquxine's shameless self-promotion from this discussion?]

Goldd 126 Share Posted November 26, 2012 From this post I have understood the following: Asulon is gone... forever. We will be attack some Villagers, and after that we will go to many more islands while traveling to 3.0. Any guess when the island server will be up? Song Druid 1486 Share Posted November 26, 2012 Right. So I was deliberating actually being the bearer of bad news here, but I fear these questions should be addressed else we still be in the dark about the future of LotC. While I appreciate and am impressed by the quick work of creating the 2.5 and hastening of 3.0, we are clearing up an effect of the main issue, mainly the malicious and almost constant and regular DDoS of our servers. My question is, what is going to be done about the main issue? If the attacks persist, regardless of 3.0 or not, it will ultimately push players out of LotC as the attackers want. What are options we can explore? :(
Ned Lud 1260 Share Posted November 27, 2012 We need to be more thorough in our defenses and religiously back-up everything constantly. We should have backups to our backups. There's no reason for us to lose something as critical as the world map unless it simply due to a lack of funding or resources. If we're lacking resources for these things, it needs to be made known immediately so we can raise money for it. Transparency, there's that word again. How many of you would like to have known that our world map had its balls flapping in the wind, unguarded and unsaved? I'm a poor boy, but I'll throw down some bones if it means that something like this does not happen again. The community's here to help, we just need to know what's going on. Press on, gents. argonian 14254 Share Posted November 27, 2012 It seems that this could have been avoided if we had copies of the recent backups in a couple different places.
