We never had a whitelist, we used the PEX ranks for that. Non accepted people were the default rank, which was Wandering Soul. whitelist prevents non-accepteds from connecting at all, PEX allows them to connect as the WS's we had set up, and once someone's app goes through it's a simple command to set their rank to the normal accepted rank so they are no longer a WS.

Right. So I was deliberating actually being the bearer of bad news here, but I fear these questions should be addressed else we still be in the dark about the future of LotC.

While I appreciate and am impressed by the quick work of creating the 2.5 and hastening of 3.0, we are clearing up an effect of the main issue, mainly the malicious and almost constant and regular DDoS of our servers. My question is, what is going to be done about the main issue? If the attacks persist, regardless of 3.0 or not, it will ultimately push players out of LotC as the attackers want. What are options we can explore? :(

We haven't been DDoS'd in months I believe, if we do we'll go from there.

Some were corrupted and broken, the whitelist and banlist was lost, as was the map. Alec not only had to fix the plugins but create a script that salvaged the whitelist from pex nodes. He also installed all the plugins fresh.

Donated over $600 US dollars to lotc's future. You're stringing me along and I am losing faith in ever playing here again. If I wanted my donated money to be thrown in a toilet and watched spin I'd have done that instead. I asked for honesty and all I get is the walk around.

Every so often I have a few hours maybe less to break away from new gf and her kids along with holiday drama to come on here and check to see how you all are doing. Instead all I see is my investment was in vain. I ask for transparency and all I get is crickets and vauge answers.

Bite that pride we all screwup and be honest as to what happened. You'll find people are far more forgiving if in error and less forgiving when lied to.

We don't know what happened to the contents on our servers hard-drive, we're not completely sure if it was malicious or a hardware issue.

(my resources include Alectriciti, Tythus and Dgco, the only one's with access to the console.)

Like my original post says, we'll keep you updated on the presence of a more recent save.

Tythus told me he may have found one no older than a month, but I haven't posted that information because I haven't actually seen the map yet and don't want to get hopes up.
