House Valois

Guivret History

The official name Guivret can be traced back to Balian’s Great Grandfather, Arthur Guivret. Arthur was a minor noble to a small kingdom created from the splintering of a larger Kingdom. His holdings were mainly forests, so the family made its name as hunters and woodsmen. Arthur and his wife Sebille (née Iwain) bore two sons, Avanc and Bladud. Avanc left the family’s holdings and was later found to have changed his surname to Briefbas and was living as a baker in lands far from his birth place to avoid the pressures of politics and nobility. Balian’s Grandfather Bladud became head of the house when his father died, leaving him there small lands in the forests. Through favors to the King and service in the military Bladud doubled the family’s holdings and took on a wife named Fenice (née Jren) from another minor noble family to the North. Times were good through the rest of Bladud’s reign, and through the early years of Balian’s father reign. Balian’s father was a man named Antoine and was a treacherous goat. Through an affair with a woman named Ana Ettarre, Balian gained a sister named Gwenavere who died at a young age due to fever. In favor of this new woman, Antoine had Balian’s mother, Elsa (née Argante) burned as a witch. A few years after this, around the time of Balian’s 23rd birthday, a neighboring kingdom conquered much land from the kingdom Balian lived in. This new kingdom slew many noble families, including Balian’s, to give their land to more favored Nobles. Balian escaped by pretending to be nothing more then a serf, and traveling through the forests. After 3 years of hiding Balian signed on with House Silverblade of the kingdom of Renatus as a bannerman, but upon hearing the founding of a new Duchy within the kingdom set off to Norjun to seek his luck in the small village of Ursakar. After only 2 years of ruling over Ursakar, Balian had not only found a wife, but had gained 2 children. His land holdings have increased greatly, and he has attained the rank of Duke in the Holy Oren Empire.

Balian, Helaine, and one of their daughters Arya were on the road from Arethor to Ursakar when in the thick of the Mallowlyn Woodlands on the outskirts of the Duchy of Auvergne they were ambushed by a group of bandits. After the a search of the Woodlands, their bodies were found in a shallow grave, striped of precious goods. One body was not recovered though, Arya's body was never found. Nobody knows if she is alive or not. Control of the Duchy was passed down to Balian's only son Maris, at Balian's own behest in his will.

Gracchi History

The house Gracchi originated in Aegis much like many of the other nobles houses of Oren. Their ancestral lands were in the far southeast of the empire. Due to the fact that many of the house's records were lost in the fall of Aegis, details remain spotty about the true origins of the House. It is known that the first leader of the House Gracchi was Peter Gracchi who was an important general for the king of Oren was granted land and titles. The line continued uneventfully until the fall of Al'khazar. Durring that event, the undead ravaged the lands of the House Gracchi killing all it's members except for Marius Gracchi the youngest son of Lord Alexander Gracchi. Marius alone fled from Aegis to Asulon and reestablished his house with the city of Ascella. Upon his death, the house ruled Ascella along with Jullius. In the following events, Ascella merged with the nation state of Seventis and the Gracchi were among the most prominent of the Houses in Seventis. Durring the split of Seventis into Nojurn and Auvergne, the house Gracchi's lands of Carcassonne placed them in Auvergne. The merge with House Guivret eventually turned the two into House Valois, which is currently a Greater House in Oren.

Valois History

With the joining of Houses Guivret and Gracchi House Valois was formed. The marriage of Maxamillian Gracchi and Chrestienne Valois is what combined the two, in essence forming what is now House Valois. Maris was the Duke at the start of this new House. Becoming very powerful quickly it seemed the family would become one of the most powerful in Oren if they were not already. Being a Greater House they had become well known throughout Asulon.

As the old world crumbled and the new land was in sight the Valois family lost track of Maris. They looked everywhere for him but he was not to be found. To this day his whereabouts are unknown. Grief struck the entire family as their leader was assumed dead. With no leader the family got together in a meeting to see who would become the new Duke/Duchess.

With blood line flowing to Chrestienne and Maxamillian they happily took the role.

Only a few short days after the announcement of a new leader Max went missing. The House feared losing another member and sent hundreds of men out in search of him. Desperate to get her husband back Chrestienne also joined the hunt. As the days stacked upon each other there was still no trace of Max. Hope began to wither away and the family accepted his death. As they tried to move on Relgard brought home a disturbing find. It was the body of Max, from the looks of it he had been dead for awhile.

Max's body was torn and ripped in a gruesome fashion. Stab marks and dried blood caked everywhere, obviously showing signs of a struggle. Relgard was positive that he knew who the culprits were. He proclaimed them to be a group known as the Frozen Thorns. Chrestienne ordered her men to keep a look out for anyone suspicious. To this day she has not been able to find any Thorns. With the loss of her husband she is a widowed Duchess, leading the House alone.

Bio of Character (At Least 2 Paragraphs): So I wrote a lot of paragraphs and it all got deleted, so I will give you a summary without all the exceedingly specific and juicy details.

 

When her parents died, she got really sad. All she would do was cry, for the most part. Eventually she stopped being all sobby and her family was happy, but she disappeared the next day, leaving a note saying she was going.

 

She traveled around as a peasant, and by age 14, learned how to live on her own with relative ease. She learned to cook, do odd jobs, gained proficiency with a knife, very basic stances and movements with a sword, and in general how to be agile.

 

When surviving was no longer a day-to-day struggle, but merely second-nature, she began traveling around Oren, changing her appearance and background each place she went. She would continue to do jobs, but instead by a different person each time with a different tragic past, eventually trying to make as ridiculous a story as possible. Lies and storytelling became easy to her.

 

Eventually, puberty hit, and she became quite obsessed with boys. Now, instead of focusing on creating an interesting background for herself, she would focus on creating her personality to make it appealing to boys. Each place she went, she would try to seduce a boy, and after a few attempts, it became easy for her. She would win a boy's heart, live out a few days or sometimes even weeks with the boy, and then leave to a new place.

 

With the fall of Asulon and her remembering stories of the fall of Aegis, she decided it was time she reunite with her family. So, she found the new Valois manor in Elysium and revealed herself to her sister, Chrestienne. Since then, she has been living her life as a noble in the family, struggling to balance her role as a noble and the personality she has developed for herself.

 

Rose would be characterized as somewhat mischievous, still very boy-obsessed, independent, opinionated and compassionate. She will assert her "superiority" as a noble, but will not willingly see another harmed because of an offense to her (unless it's someone trying to kill her or something like that, but I think that's fairly obvious). She typically does not take matters seriously, excluding some extreme situations. She has long black hair and brown eyes, and usually dresses very nicely like a good, pretty noble girl should.

Bio of Character (At Least 2 Paragraphs): Ursolon was once a noble in the Kingdom of Seventis, later becoming on in the Kingdom of Oren when the allegiance was declared. He had always thought of himself as a better King than King Renati Amedaius of Seventis, however he rarely openly spoke of it. He helped guide the small Kingdom into it's greatness alongside Ariana Gracchi, King Renati and Jullius Vallark. After the great migration to the newly claimed Seventis lands of the East, Ursolon split from the main group to create the city of Tyr; still part of Seventis. As time went on, he offered land to his close friend Balian Guivret, thus the creation of Ursakar. Together, Balian and Ursolon created a thriving culture within the Western half of Seventis. When Seventis was absorbed into the Kingdom of Oren, being renamed to the Duchy of Norjun, Ursolon's bitter resentment for the act led to his attempted assasination, which was presented as a mining accident. While he was presumed dead, his body was never found and soon he was forgotten. The Duchy of Auvergne was created and later the Houses of Guivret and Gracchi were joined. 

 

After the 'accident', Ursolon, gravely wounded, ventured South until he was helped by several members of the Hammerites, an order which sadly didn't continue into Elysium. Knowing his fate, should he go back to Tyr, decided to try a new way of life within the ranks of the Hammerites. He was constantly filled with grief over his desire to return to Ariana, however he knew he would be killed if he did. 

 

As the inhabitants of Asulon ventured to a new land, Ursolon tried to gather information on the current happenings in the Duchy of Norjun's noble family. Upon hearing that King Renati had passed, Ursolon felt safe to return to his friends and family. Much had changed since he had been forced away and he did his best to find the remnants of House Guivret and the Duchy of Auvergne.

Angelica was not like other girls she had the privilege of being raised amongst in the lands of Oren, her school teacher described her as an oddity in comparison to the rest of the class. Angelica was sent away by her mother at the age of 6, to a very prestigious school in the nobility districts of Oren, with intentions that Angelica would one day learn the attributes and manors that all ladies of Oren would have, However Angelica had other aspirations in mind. Angelica did not show interest in the noble lifestyle that was decided for her, instead she had great interest in the Outland woods and fairytales she was told to at a very young age.

After many unsuccessful attempts to escape from her school in the Oren Capital, one night whilst sleeping in her dorm under the majestic watch of the moonlight, she snuck out of bed and down the hallway with nothing but a night gown and a candle, escaping her education for the outdoor adventures that lay ahead.

3 days went past and no sign of Angelica remained at the school. The headmistress that had taken quite a liking to the missing girl was struck with grief, and took upon the liberty of writing a letter to Angelica's mother. Once the letter was written and sealed, it was attached firmly to an Owl's foot, with strict instructions to be delivered as soon as possible. On its journeys the Owl was flying over a steep valley with a single stream of river running down the centre. The owl itself had never seen such beauty before, and gazed down at sight beneath it as it glided.

Suddenly the owl struck into the side of a pine tree trunk that towered above the other tree's. The owl and its parchment tumbled down and down hitting every branch on its way before landing with a thud onto what seemed a leaf patch. The leaves rustled in its place for a while before being pushed aside to reveal a young girl, tired and exhausted, laying in the dirt.

It was Angelica, and as she sat up and looked at the intruding object, she say the signature of her beloved former headmistress in the corner of her eye. She scurried over with what energy she had left to the dead corpse and fine parchment. Angelica ripped the letter open with her teeth and held the tatty letter to her face, pushing a strand of thick, blonde hair from her eyes and holding it there, whilst her eyes dart side to side.

Angelica knew she had to return to her mother, and indeed her entire family before any worry came to them, however Angelica couldn't help fear of how her family might react. Would they banish Angelica for her actions? Would they punish her greatly in serious consequence? These are the questions that troubled her mind as she made the journey home in her night dress, with the letter scrunched in her hand

Suddenly the owl struck into the side of a pine tree trunk that towered above the other tree's. The owl and its parchment tumbled down and down hitting every branch on its way before landing with a thud onto what seemed a leaf patch. The leaves rustled in its place for a while before being pushed aside to reveal a young girl, tired and exhausted, laying in the dirt.

It was Angelica, and as she sat up and looked at the intruding object, she say the signature of her beloved former headmistress in the corner of her eye. She scurried over with what energy she had left to the dead corpse and fine parchment. Angelica ripped the letter open with her teeth and held the tatty letter to her face, pushing a strand of thick, blonde hair from her eyes and holding it there, whilst her eyes dart side to side.

Angelica knew she had to return to her mother, and indeed her entire family before any worry came to them, however Angelica couldn't help fear of how her family might react. Would they banish Angelica for her actions? Would they punish her greatly in serious consequence? These are the questions that troubled her mind as she made the journey home in her night dress, with the letter scrunched in her hand
