This far noticing kal'hudin as being the highest vote I have 2 issues to address regarding the name,

1. 90% of Dwarves will not pronounce it properly instea they will say "Kal' 'oodin" or "Kal' 'udin".

2. The meaning of it seems very incorrect for the city as it is built above sea level and is exclusively inside the mountains, any other portion is either a mine or deep roads.

Another thing I want to know is where the names are coming from? Is it specifically from our crude language we've set up? Or copied from another source much like Kiron Duron (Dwarf fortress for "Holy Beard"), which is the proper name of Kal'Duran.

Do we really need the Kal' prefix. I understand why its there, but it ain't needed.

That's what a lot of people said with Karik and look what it ended up being known as. :P It's a dwarven tradition that I don't think we should change.

They are from the dwarven language we currently have written up, though new words are still being added so it doesn't hurt to take them from other sources.

I just think we are depriving ourselves of many names because they don't roll well with Kal' infront of them.

Anything referring to beards or masculinity excludes me. So don't do those. And don't name it after Gungron...

The poll has been narrowed down to the six most popular names so far. Make sure to select delete vote as it won't let you place another otherwise.

I'll restate two problems with the current names we have here. Firstly, Kal'Kadrin might sound good but its translation makes little sense as the city has nothing to do with a mountain pass. Also, the name Kal'Hudin has its problems as the majority of dwarves wouldn't pronounce the H and it would come out as Kal-'oo'din.

Edit: After midnight today, I'll lock this thread and make a new one with the top two choices for the final vote.

Kal'Kayne  *The crowd "oooohhhsss" and "ahhhhssss" after saying the name*

I think Kal'Azgoth sounds the best, and has great meaning. :)

P.S. For all you people that I know weren't worried about me, Kayne will be returning come 3.0
