mmat 7460 Share Posted July 13, 2013 Hey Telanir, is it possible to actually increase the range of custom melee weapons such as polearms, spears, etc? Also, could hammers be introduced with a high damage output but the player can't attack as quickly as they could with a regular sword? This would be good because I think it would allow for a greater variance of weapons in PvP rather than people just using swords all of the time. Ned Lud 1260 Share Posted July 13, 2013 I'd like to suggest an Animal Breeder profession, unless this is something that would fall under Farming. With the addition of horses and livestock being a useful commodity for leather, wool, eggs and meat, I think animal breeding should be restricted to a certain profession. Otherwise, we're losing a lot of business due to the fact that anyone can and will do it themselves. Horse breeders stand the most to lose, as anyone with two horses would be able to breed a full stock of horses, which isn't something the average person does as a hobby on the side. Hopefully this would limit farms and ranches to players that actively farm and ranch on a daily basis.

I think going the profession route to handle horse proliferation would be beneficial to the economy and other RP involving them. In addition, I have a question. Are you still planning on having all professions be learnable after a very long amount of time? I don't think that would be a solid idea as given enough time, even if its a bit down the road, everyone could be masters in every profession, killing specialized profession livelihoods and RP. I think a limit of one master skilled professions and maybe twoish very proficient professions that benefit from being in the same general category as the master profession. Also I think people should start by default at clumsy in most if not all profesions instead of adept.

Yes, although it can be a bit dodgy, increasing the range of custom melee weapons is entirely possible. Yes warhammers are going to be introduced, as many weapons will be. Some weapons will counter other weapons, and it's sort of a game of rock, paper, scissors. I'd like to suggest an Animal Breeder profession, unless this is something that would fall under Farming. Animal Husbandry is in fact already a profession, and it's aimed to make sure bob off the street can't just have a farm filled to the brim with animals. This would be an excellent addition to the plug-in! I think going the profession route to handle horse proliferation would be beneficial to the economy and other RP involving them. Also I think people should start by default at clumsy in most if not all profesions instead of adept. I might introduce a full limit depending on how beta-testing goes, but currently the plan is to have an exponential requirement for leveling up, after a time it just becomes silly to expect to gain mastery in another profession. It might be mastery in one profession after a good week, second after a month, and the third after maybe three to four months. After that, the next profession will most likely take a year to master, provided you keep your character around for that long. Also, you don't start with adept in any profession, people begin with the 'able' proficiency level. Where you /can/ but won't necessarily be able to make anything good out of it. Praetor 1550 Share Posted July 15, 2013 I don't know if this has been brought up or is planned, but I think it would be nice if fletchers could make better or different arrows as their skill increases. For example, poisoned arrows of various types as well as better crafted arrows that can fly farther or have more precision, etc...
Ned Lud 1260 Share Posted July 15, 2013 For farming hops, I think there ought to be at least a small chance of getting an extra seed when harvesting fully-grown hops. This would allow brewers to have a small reserve of seeds, in case their field is griefed or the seeds are otherwise lost. This would also help them to slowly expand their production and/or encourage the trading of rare seed combinations among brewers. It should be a very small percent chance to drop, so as to allow regional brewers to continue to specialize in and trade in what they find most commonly in their regions, without every brewer becoming entirely self-sufficient and mass-producing every combination of seed within a week's time. I'm talking like even a 1/100 chance of a double seed drop. Also, hops can currently be used as green dye. I think this may have been overlooked and should be changed to allow only cactus green to be used as green dye, to make it harder to obtain in bulk. The 1/100 chance is already actually implemented since 2 months ago hehe. And it is exactly that, a 1/100 chance. Also, I didn't know about the dye thing, thank you Ned! monkeypoacher 8055 Share Posted July 15, 2013 If we're talking about the plugin itself, I think it's really quite cool. Nevertheless I hate it, because I'm a jaded cynical arse, and I feel it's a huge cop-out. I see it proposed as a way to solve RP issues like powergaming, IC training, and whatnot, and I really don't want to MCly do things for RP skill. That pisses me off. Rhonir 16 Share Posted August 7, 2013 What of dual wielding? Will its implementation be similar to that of the shield? And I think that Wood Elves should be able to jump higher and take less fall damage. As well, they should be able to do even more damage with bows, and a faster draw. It would give some advantage to being a little brown elf. :D
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee 10 Share Posted August 8, 2013 Ok, just wondering, say you switch your character, will the stats be the same as the char you were just on, or will when your on a other character then switch do you keep the same prof or not, I don't see how that would work, how would it detect when you change your char? When it comes to racial bonuses, don't worry bud, I've got that handled. ^-^ Ok, just wondering, say you switch your character, will the stats be the same as the char you were just on, or will when your on a other character then switch do you keep the same prof or not, I don't see how that would work, how would it detect when you change your char? Well, there isn't a system of multiple characters implemented, unfortunately. You'd have to be the same race and profession if you wanted to have multiple characters, or you could just have a main character and the rest wouldn't engage in too much crafting/combat.

Pity. I think that should be changed.

comanderbly^ 499 Share Posted August 9, 2013 Well. I must agree with the many others that said this is far too complicated. I agree with the professions, and yes, it would add quite a lot of fun, etc. I would like to see that, although, many of the other features are just too much. And the professions itself, maybe is a bit too elaborate. I am going to quote someone, sorry, I didnt find the post: "Afterall joined LotC to play minecraft." I have experienced this on another server, that others may know, but I shall not name for advertising issues. The server is basicly an MMO-RPG in minecraft, if I want to play an MMO-RPG, I'll get one, I bought minecraft to play minecraft, and LotC adds the roleplay aspect to it, it makes minecraft more fun in certain ways, that is why I applied and why I play here. I am one of those people that did not enjoy the Skills plugin, it was too annoying, and it actually made me quit for a while. If it gets too complicated, what's the point of playing? Ned Lud 1260 Share Posted August 9, 2013 If it were changed, it would instantly be abused, more so than it will surely be by players with multiple accounts.
