Nation Mines!

Give dwarves a mine with minerals like gold in but make the respawn long so then it shows how much dwarves actually mine in lore

I'd give the dwarves an iron mine and a gold mine fastravelled within Kal'Azgoth. They're the dwarves, the whole reason they live in underground cities is to mine for valuable ores. The plan for the dwarves was to have their economy hinge around importing food and selling dwarven wares.

The quartz mine would probably be better for the elves than the humans, especially the High Elves. I'm pretty sure the humans would prefer an iron mine (even if it isn't as bountiful as the dwarven one.) Maybe in Kaedrin where they can build a small settlement around it.

I'd also put a coal mine in every nation.

Will there be uses of the emeralds other than just being gems?

I feel like the quartz mine shouldn't be a nation mine. Compared to the other resources quartz is much more valuable. I believe that mine should go somewhere else like the beginning part of the north or in the wilds.

With the professions plugin it seems that the main bonus the humans have is their numbers so why not settle with giving them a mine with a lesser valued resource?

Consider giving the humans a small assortment of quarries. Gravel, clay, stone, etc... rather than giving them a highly valued material while the smaller nations get pretty gems. You can't build something just of out emeralds.

What's to prevent someone going to the Human Capitol during 6:00 AM and mining their quartz? I take it the mines will be regioned. How about multiple character cards that can be switched between?

EDIT: I really like this idea! I think it will create trade. Just throwing out a few problems.

I would like if the Workforce is kept in mind when making these mines as for the Dwarven nation miners will be given a quota to complete each Elven week, and there should be enough ore/time between respawn for the miners to get their quota complete

We're going to need a renewable resource for gravel, sand (sandstone and glass) and clay. I would suggest placing nodes in each of the mines and allowing them to be harvested with a shovel.

I was wondering, is it possible for a Nation to occupy a mine, like an Iron Mine and prevent others from mining in it??

I mean, if you took eight orcs and stood in the Iron mine, you certainly could occupy it.

Late night American time the high elves usually do this with the iron mine. take 3-6 people and just control it. You can't actually control it though. Only camp it out. Where is the fun in having a nation having total control over an iron mine? There is no competition. No danger! The way the iron mine is now is beautiful. There is intense RP that happens there, even late at night.

How often does this happen?

Yes. But nations should also have their own personal, albeit smaller, dwarves exempt, iron mines with about 20 ore each. Same with coal, but I'm not going to put numbers for it.

I think the high elves should be given a quartz mine. We have a spot intended for a mine, and following the pattern: Quartz is the resource that makes the most sense.

Excuse me.. But I fail to see the sense in Elves having a quartz quarry.

Or rather, I fail to see the sense behind a quartz quarry being present in a heavily forested environment.

I think it'd be more interesting to put quartz in a similar line to the mineral alabaster, and have it in the orc deserts.

A material the orcs themselves probably wouldn't like very much, and consider kind of 'trash', but, all other races probably want a bit of, making for a nice pure 'trading material' for the orcs.

Well excuse me, but I fail to see the sense in giving a nation a mineral that they wouldn't like, and would consider 'trash'. If the orcs want a 'trading material' then something that's useful to them makes much more sense. If they don't care for the resource, it won't be worth much to them. The only thing driving the price up would be that mining 'trash' just to sell it is a bother, especially for tribal warrior peoples.

Also, the High Elf land is covered by mountains and hills, far more so than heavy forest, so that's not really valid.

"Excuse me", but please keep the tensions down. All it takes is a single misunderstanding or misplaced word to spark a flame war, and if such a thing were to happen then I would be forced to warn those involved or perhaps even lock this thread, preventing further contribution to the topic. Discuss maturely or do not discuss at all, this is your first and only warning.
