Howdy folks,

Just a quick opinion-gathering session here. Whilst this isn't extremely high on my priorities currently, I want to know what you guys think of the current website. We wont be doing any large changes (such as design) any time soon, but this is so we know for when we do ever decide to do any. Please throw in a post below and give a wee vote on the poll so we know your thoughts - make sure you post if you vote, otherwise you're wasting everyone's time!

Please include things such as:

Cheers!

Please do talk about the other things I mentioned too, not just the design! :)

I think that the Guilds and Trade section should be re-separated.

  • Forums that should stay/go/be added? Character Profiles. Having profiles on the wiki would be more streamlined and accessible due to easier search functions.
  • Useless areas? Competition archive should be moved to the Great Library.
  • Areas that should be added?
  • What'd you think of the design? Could be improved and more accessible.
  • Anything need updated?
  • Did you prefer our old style? The original first style was best I found.
  • Would you like to see us return to a design more like that? Obviously not the same. Yes

Honestly, I think we've got it pretty much all figured out. I will admit that I didn't like the current style when it first came out, but I've gotten used to it and I think I may like it better. I know that people with a slower internet speed seem to have less trouble navigating the forums now.

I don't think it's NECESSARY to get rid of any forum sections right now, or even change anything around. Each has its own function. Really, the only thing that I have an issue with is the fact that you can't use search words with fewer than four letters, but I realize that that's probably not our choice.

Can we please readd the downvote button ;-;

That's pretty much a bully button and I don't believe it should be re-added. Don't like something? Don't upvote it.

I liked the first one the most, then the third.

I like the original and current for,ats the best. I'd like to see the downvote button and blogs returned

I feel as-though we really need something alike the second like at the top... A banner of sorts which sits at the top of the forum page and give it some oomph.

Design wise, a return to the style in the third link would be welcome. I'm of the opinion that the colour scheme of the website has corresponded with the tone of the server - both OOC'lly and IC'lly - throughout its history. In Aegis the community was more light hearted and co-operative and we had a bright and optimistic colour scheme. In Asulon and through the Anthos our colour scheme has been dark, and our attitudes have declined. I'd be hesitant to suggest a link between the two, but there is some research to suggest that colour effects mood. As well as our current efforts to recapture the 'Aegis feel' I believe a return to a brighter colour scheme such as the one shown in link 3 would be most welcome.

As for things to be added I would suggest adding a lore section to the main website. Similarly to the lore/game/world sections of the websites for upcoming games (RPGs etc) it should include small articles on key lore points - around 4 paragraphs per article for example. We could run a weekly release of lore articles to add to it. As it stands the finer points of the lore are relatively inaccessible for new members - unless they fancy trawling through the accepted lore subforum or the poorly maintained wiki.

We should also re-add player made blogs for people to... well, blog. Nothing really to explain.

As for removing things I would second the motion to remove the Old Hat Bar. It's rarely used and only serves to divide the community between old players and new players, adding to the image of elitism that some have percieved among us.
