Creation, Testing & Distribution

Chapter I - Creation

A small and frail dwarf named Gunvor stepped up to the door after his daily walk through the forest. After a few knocks an older looking but still somewhat frail dwarf opened the door. “Papa!” Gunvor shouted as he stepped inside and went to hug the dwarf known as Gauldrim. Gauldrim palmed the other dwarf off to the side with a grunt before speaking in an annoyed tone “I’m busy, don’t touch the potions down stairs”. Gunvor nodded and watched as Gauldrim went outside to gather a few more ingredients from their personal alchemy farm. Gunvor eagerly ran down stairs to see what was being made, the dwarf looked over to the potion making bench and saw two vials filled with a bubbling potion. The dwarf bounced over to the potion and climbed onto the bench to look inside from the top, as he put his right knee up onto the table it knocked one of the potion stands, sending the vial onto it’s side. The overturned vial then leaked into the vial sitting upon the bench that was lower down and to the left. After a few seconds of bubbling and Gunvor doing a wee wee in his pants a sweet smell filled the room, Gunvor realised the source of this smell was not his wee wee but the newly made potion. Gunvor went over and took up the vial in his gloved hand. Quickly he reached off into one of the ingredient drawers off to the right and pulled out an alabaster leaf, this leaf was white, a colour Gunvor was obsessed with. Gunvor tosses the leaf into the potion which made it assume a frosty white colour. Gunvor then waited a few moments for the potion to cool before gulping down a good half of it, at this very time a stomping could be heard from the stairs and Gauldrim appeared in the room to witness his son drinking what he believed to be a deadly potion. “You fool! That’s poison!” Gauldrim shouted, looking towards where the other bench where the other potion would be to find nothing is there. “My potion of Euphoria…” Gauldrim mumbled as he looked back to his son, thinking over the outcomes of mixing the two potions as he approached. Gauldrim grabbed the potion from his son’s hand, gulping down the rest of it.

Chapter II - Testing
The pair realised that the Quartz Dust gave a feeling of elation and happiness, the pair both being Dwarves did not realise that they were not experiencing the full effects of the Quartz Dust. They shared the Dust with their Elven friend El’Sir the wood elf, being an Elf El’Sir experienced the full effects of the small amount of Quartz Dust he took, he experienced extreme elation and became steadily addicted as he asked the Dwarves for more and more. As they perfected their batches with El’Sir testing, Gauldrim realised that keeping the substance in liquid form was difficult to consume and transport easily. Gauldrim being an experienced alchemist knew that potions could be formed into gels, lotions and balms but he also knew that sugar can form crystals when heated and watered correctly. He set about perfecting the consistency of the sugar crystals and learnt that the Quartz Dust could not be exposed to any water as it damages the Dust and can cause the Dust to dissolve if the Dust is not dried promptly. Gauldrim and Gunvor continued to take it in small doses feeling the euphoria it provided as El’Sir became more and more addicted taking larger and larger doses. His appearance deteriorated as he took the Dust in larger and larger amounts, he became paranoid and angry constantly when he didn’t have access to the Dust and this made him dangerous to be around. Gauldrim proceeded to provide the goods to him out of fear and eventually El’Sir did not appear anymore, their Dwarves presumed him to be dead. Yet the pair continued to make small batches and take the Dust themselves trying to balance the ingredients properly to result in the best Quartz Dust that gave the best feeling of carelessness, weightlessness and euphoria.

Chapter III - Distribution
The dwarves had already been shipping the dust out to Oren to be sold in luxury markets as the dwarves did not know it was deadly. After declaring El’Sir dead the dwarves began to panic, sooner or later the citizens of Oren would start turning up dead and the drug would surely be outlawed. On one side the dwarves wanted to stop making the drug out of fear and on the other side they wanted to keep selling it out of dwarvish greed. Nothing beats dwarvish greed. The dwarves continued distributing the goods as they nervously awaited the eventually deadly drug to be outlawed in the nation of Oren, the main nation they supplied too.

Quantities

Quantities

There are a few ranges of quantities that bring out different effects when consumed.

Dwarves and Orcs are not affected by miniscule, very small or small doses. Fatigue will always occur after every dose. Some dwarves and orcs have managed to survive Very large and massive doses although it is only a 10% chance of surviving a massive dose for orcs and dwarves. Orcs and dwarves will only be effected by the sweet aftertaste when doses that are less than medium are taken.

Miniscule - Little to no symptoms, only a sweet aftertaste.

Very Small -Very Weak positive short term symptoms. No negative effects if taken in moderate succession.

Small - Weak positive symptoms. Some short term negative effects even when taken in moderate succession.

Medium - Positive short term symptoms, a few short term negative effects even when taken in moderate succession. In rare cases a single long term negative effect is adopted. (Can be adopted more than once if the drug is taken many times in this quantity).

Large - Enhanced  positive short term symptoms, most negative short term negative effects. A few long term negative effects.

Very Large - Very enhanced short positive term symptoms, all negative short term symptoms. Most long term negative effects. 60% chance of death.

Huge - Extremely enhanced short term positive symptoms, all negative short term symptoms enhanced, all long term symptoms become short term. 90% chance of death.

Massive - Slow, painful and certain death for humans and elves.

Effects.

Short Term Positive Effects (Immediate - Three Hours)

All of these symptoms happen at once

When consumed Quartz Dust has many positive effects in a short time period, these include increased strength and endurance ,a sweet aftertaste, higher learning capability, quicker reflexes and pain numbing. In some cases with people with bad immune systems it can be used as a laxative.

Short Term Negative Effects (Immediate - Four Hours)

These symptoms are random and change depending on the person

While Quartz Dust has a quite a few good effects in a short time period it also has a few negative such as; bloodshot eyes, blurred vision, increased heart rate, increased blood pressure, itchy skin, paranoia and in some cases for people with a high blood pressure to start with, strokes.

Long Term Negative Effects (1 Week +)

Quartz Dust is home to a few negative effects when consumed such as; weakened muscles, low blood pressure, low heart rate, random blurred vision, depression, itchy skin, pain, dizziness and insomnia.

Ingredients & Preperation

Ingredients of Quartz Dust

Made from ingredients that can be seen in any common alchemists cupboard Quartz Dust is a combination of the following common ingredients found across Anthos and the effects that they have in the formation and effects that Quartz Dust has.

-Flame Tongue Root: The powdery spores that this produces have been known to cause heightened sensitivity, when added to Quartz Dust it can add a sense of paranoia in large doses as well as sustained long term exposure to Quartz Dust. It is used in very small doses in the actual mixture as Quartz Dust’s main purpose is to give the user a feeling of euphoria and carelessness.

- Frost Vine: Commonly used as a numbing agent when mashed and mixed with water Frost Vine is another key ingredient in Quartz Dust. When ingested in Quartz Dust the numbing agent will assist in adding that feeling of weightlessness and carelessness that the users crave.

- Zawabate: Zawabate has the exact same presence in Quartz Dust as Frost Vine and that is as a numbing agent. Able to provide that feeling of numbness from the inside out the use of Zawabate in small amounts in Quartz Dust just intensifies that feeling adding to the euphoria that ensues after every use.

- Blistering Toad: This large fleshy mushroom developes patches of spores along its cap when it is at full growth. These spores have a sweet taste to them and they give the Quartz Dust a sweet aftertaste as should be expected. But there are also poisonous qualities to the spores which can assist in the degradation of internal systems such as the throat, lungs and the inner lining of the mouth causing people to lose teeth.

- Elrow Berries: A symbol for rage, Elrow Berries are added to give Quartz Dust a certain level of potency. Only the skin of the berries is used in the mixture so that a user can only experience the heat involved with Elrow Berries if huge amounts are taken which causes the user to fall unconscious.

- Alabaster Leaf: Originally an accidental addition into the quartz dust the Alabaster Leaf is what gives the Quartz Dust its quartz like complexion. Quartz Dust has an alabaster hue obviously and there are unwanted side effects of the addition of Alabaster Leaf into the Quartz Dust such as fatigue which is a later stage in the effects when taken in medium amounts.

- Sugar: Able to turn to sugar crystals when heated by itself sugar is what makes Quartz Dust look like dust. Combined with the hue of the Alabaster Leaf the listed ingredients are used alongside sugar to make it easily transportable and ingestible. .

Preparation of Quartz Dust
Due to the initial formation of Quartz Dust being a combination of the two potions mentioned earlier the preparation begins with the brewing of these two potions. Once they are nearing the end of the process they are combined in a single vat and are then boiled and combined along with the alabaster leaf that was originally added due to Gunvor’s obsession. Once the vat of the what can be described as the ‘raw’ stage of the Quartz Dust has been prepared, a large wide pan is heated and then filled with a layer of sugar. A cup is then used to trickle the ‘raw’ Quartz Dust over the hot sugar and then as the sugar begins to crystalise it essentially traps the ‘raw’ Quartz Dust and it forms a crusty dry powder that looks much like quartz. This is the final form of the Quartz Dust, the preparation doesn’t have any specific measurement so it is all done by feel and judgement from the original batch.

Doesn't mean they know how to make it.

Redstone dust, glowstone dust, quartz dust.

ALL OF THE DUST IN ANTHOS IS DRUGS!

Next time we discover that dirt is drugs...

Ye... there are quite a lot of them already, and they aren't used much...

If we are going to have drugs, we will need undercover buyers and suppliers by the police. Waiting by the gas station looking at a suspicious group with their infiltrator near them.. Wait! There are no gas stations in Anthos.. But we can make some good lore for it?

Even though I like the idea, I don't think we can use another "dust" or "Effecting material". Getting cursed by Madeline's gem ( thank you ever. ) and being overdosed with cactus green is enough.
