  3. In the heady warmth of the Urguani tavern, a slightly older and slightly less-stressed Dhaen Grandaxe reclines against a stone wall. Smoke in hand and drink still burning on her tongue, she muses on the excellent work of Dorimnur Goldhand. The Dwarven community was surely blessed to have once had such a committed leader among their ranks. "Yemekar guide 'is path tu de warmth ov' de forge an' de taste ov' dwarven gold."

  6. It was a quiet night when Dhaen Grandaxe learned of Rhewen's death, sitting alone by the port. With the sharp tang of sea-salt and bitter vodka on her tongue, she reminisced. Rhewen had been a Dwed of legend, a name inked into library texts with all the pride of his people behind it. Yet in person, he had also been a surprisingly gentle conversationalist, who listened to her worries during the cold nights of Kal'Odla. His passing may have marked the end of his epic, but Dhaen felt confident he was bound for a mighty welcome in Khaz'a'Dentrumm. The mountain stands so tall and cold, no hearth to keep her warm. We toil, toil till it seems, we heat her earthen form. And at last when we lay in her stone embrace, She takes us up to Dungrimm's gates and to eternal fate.

  10. Beneath a sharp, mountainous overhang - where the susurration of sand cast a sonorous song as it beat against the foreign cliffs - two dwarves sat with their backs pressed against stone as they took cover from the elements. Their wanderings had found them here, three days from the nearest town and many years since their boots were grounded on their homeland. From one, a weary snore emanated as he took his rest. The shorter dwarf grinned at the sounds of her traveling companion before flicking open a pack of cigarettes, unamused to find none left. Dhaen sighed in disappointment and stared at the night sky, a solitary blanket woven with luminous stars stretched before her. As the orange tendrils of dawn crept across her view, she thought not of her travels, nor of her future. Instead, she retrieved a worn paper that had been tucked in her cloak pocket. Dhaen grimaced at the way her hands still shook as she unfolded it, staring. Two figures were etched in ink upon the parchment, a moment immortalized from her own mind's eye; the proud father who lovingly held a peaceful infant in his arms. "Anbella guide your travels. Wherever they may take you."

  13. Dhaen Grandaxe, former Queen of Urguan, sits upon a mossy stone, attempting to read the paper she had acquired the day before by the light of a dim campfire. She reaches the last line and shakes her ginger head in bitter mourning. "Time 'as touch'd all ov' de monarchs dat sign'd de original accord. May Dungrimm guide 'im an' Anbella care fo' t'ose 'e left be'ind" The paper is swiftly disposed of in the flames as Dhaen settles down to sleep beneath the open night sky.
  14. What Is Left Behind Three Years Ago: A cheerful fire danced in the comfortable palace suite of Kal’Darakaan. The evening was lighthearted and Dhaen felt likewise. She brushed out her ginger ringlets in front of a mirror before attending to her small family below. Her footsteps echoed slightly as she walked to her lover, the Grand King Jorvin Starbreaker, and pressed a kiss to his wearied brow as he worked. She then turned to hoist her child up to rest on her hip, a small cheerful baby, Kazagrim, who was but a year old. Dhaen ran a hand through his dark curls, not unlike the shape of her own yet bearing the dark coloring of his father. She looked into the gaze of the latter and smiled. The Grand King smiled back, stress evident on his face. Two Years Ago: Dhaen sat in a dark palace room, illuminated by the flickering shadows of a single candle on the desk in front of her. There was no stir in the room, no cheerful babble from her child, nor hurried scratch of Jorvin’s pen. There was only her own breathing, harsh and stuttering as she attempted to contain her panic. She had known he was planning to leave. The silence in his wake at council meetings had been loudest of all to call her attention to the fact. She also knew that wherever he was, he was planning to stay there, to heal. Dhaen trusted him with that. Taking Kazagrim had been unexpected, but ultimately for the best. It had always been her opinion that the city was no place to raise an infant, let alone her own. Yet it still hurt. She had given the mountain every bit of her soul, yet it was her family that held her heart. Dhaen wondered if the urge to find them would ever dissipate. Regardless, there were more pressing matters - the people in the nation of Urguan needed her, so she would heed their call. One Year Ago: Dhaen cleared off the papers from the finalized election and gazed out at the wide square, mostly empty besides the occasional dwarf hurrying across it. Out of her pocket she retrieved three letters and placed them at the doorsteps of her family Levian’Tol, Brynaelda, and Bryldryn, each entailing her planned location should they need to contact her. She rested her head on her hand as she returned, a feeling of bittersweet relief flowing through her. Her time in the spotlight was over and the time for a new Grand King had arisen. She did not much care for Norli Starbreaker anymore, feelings of resentment from her youth still not easily forgotten, but she trusted him to take care of the city and find a suitable replacement when her time to leave came as well. Today: Dhaen exited the throne room, applause ringing in her ears and her heart full of love. The winding path out of the kingdom brought her out into the sun as she began her journey to find her lost husband and child. She would return, be it in a few months or a few decades. The people of Urguan were her family. And family means no one gets left behind or forgotten. [Sweet Queen Dhaen Grandaxe pulling up with the Grandaxe Bois]

  16. Official Announcement of Appointment and Coronation of the New Grand King of Urguan “A king he was on carven throne In many-pillared halls of stone With golden roof and silver floor And runes of power upon the door The light of sun and star and moon In shining lamps of crystal hewn Undimmed by cloud or shade of night There shown forever far and bright” The dwarven populace knows perseverance like they know the swing of a pick in a carven mine or the gleam of ore shining through rubble. In our hands we know what it is to work for honor, for glory, and for the good of our kin. No one understands such work as the mighty Dwarven King. From his throne, the King must carry the weight of his kingdom and people, leading them in battle and peace. It is time again for a new age. One unburdened by our past sorrows, yet bearing the might and honor of our blessed people, guided by a new leader! "Let the ale run like water and the bounty of our surface grace the lips of every fellow dwarven brother and sister!" On Year 8 of the Second Age, The 15th of The Grand Harvest, the Council of the Grand Kingdom of Urguan has struggled through a fierce election against an honorable candidate, Durorn Ireheart, seen not only one of the first electoral ties in dwarven history, but also voted to finalize Norli Starbreaker as the newly elected Grand King of the Grand Kingdom of Urguan. Blessed are we to have now secured a leader to guide us into a brand new era of prosperity and honor for the dwarves once more. The coronation of Grand King Norli Starbreaker will take place in 1 stone’s day time in the official throneroom of Urguan. While all are welcome, let us extend special invitations to our friends and allies, the Kingdom of Norland, the Kingdom of Haense, and the Province of Vaelya. [[Coronation will be at 2 pm est in the Urguan Throneroom on Sunday the 24th (Tomorrow)]] [Credit to Song of Durin for the opening quote]
  17. Dhaen Grandaxe stares into a mirror and wonders what else she doesn't know.
  18. Dhaen Grandaxe, Queen Regent, leans wearily on the railings of a stone balcony far above the city. She furrows her brow melancholically at the sights of mourning from Grandaxes in the streets at the loss of one of their kin, a lazy trail of smoke dripping from a cigarette held in her frown. The ginger dwarf methodically puts it out and turns away. She did not know the young Grandaxe who was her kin by blood and clan, but she could tell he was beloved by the clan - even if he was braised and slightly sauteed.
  19. QUESTIONS FOR URGUANI ELECTION CANDIDATES? With the advent of the elections, dwed need to think carefully about who they plan to elect. Below is a form to submit questions the candidates will be able to view and respond to either in their campaign speech or through the application system! [OOC: You can either answer the questions in a campaign post or directly in comments below] Format RP Name: Candidate: Question:
  20. THE ELECTIONS OF THE GRAND KINGDOM OF URGUAN The people of the mighty nation of Urguan have long worked to ensure the well-being of their kin and country. My husband, Grand King Jorvin Starbreaker, wearies from the burden of leading us, and now we must look to new horizons. It is with a heavy heart that I now announce the Grand Council, as of the 6th of the Grand Harvest, Year 7, has decided to begin the process of finding a king once more in his absence. I, Dhaen Grandaxe, Grand Merchant of the Grand Kingdom, have been elected to run this election as the standing Queen Regent of the Kingdom. For those who are unaware of how the proceedings work, Dwed running for the title of King can only be voted for if they are nominated by a clan on the council. From there, all citizens of Urguan proceed to cast their vote. Our nominees are as follows in order of number of clans backing them: Clan Starbreaker: Norli Starbreaker Clan Irongut: Norli Starbreaker Clan Frostbeard: Norli Starbreaker Clan Irongrinder: Norli Starbreaker Clan Ireheart: Durorn Ireheart Clan Doomforged: Durorn Ireheart Clan Grimgold: Alaric Grimgold Clan Hammerforge: Alaric Grimgold Clan Grandaxe: Abstain Clan Goldhand: Abstain Village of Hefrumm: Abstain Clan Metalfist: Not Present The three active nominees are Norli Starbreaker, Durorn Ireheart, and Alaric Grimgold. Voting will close six stone days from now and the results will be released the following stone day. The three candidates will have the opportunity and are encouraged to declare why they are running and campaign before this voting period ends. Should voting removals take place, I will publicly declare why the removal took place. May the most honorable candidate be guided to victory. ~OOC~ You may not use alt accounts to push for more votes and may only vote once even if you have multiple characters. You must have been a citizen of Urguan for at least 2 Stone Weeks and have a minimal 4 hours of activity leading up to the Vote-Count to have your vote considered accepted. This will be checked. A vote may be changed up until the voting period is announced closed. All votes will be anonymous IRPly and one may NOT RP knowing any dwarf’s vote. The voting period will end on the 22nd and the announcement of the new king will be on the 23rd. Coronation will occur at a time and date of the new kings choice If any vote would happen to be removed, I will personally show which vote has been removed + the reason for removal to the Council to avoid corruption. Lastly, the council will approve my counting to assure there is no cheating or foul-play. The winning candidate will be based on a simple majority. In case of being unable to vote via the forums one may contact me directly via Discord; Dhaelena#3818 ~Format~ IGN: RP NAME: CANDIDATE: REMEMBER! VOTING ENDS ON JANUARY 22!
  21. The Worker’s Guild Agreement Long has our kin and allies called for freedom to enter the mines without being in the Worker’s Guild. Today marks the glorious occasion that our merciful Yemekar’s Pick, Dorimnur Goldhand, has helped to write an agreement, opening the mines! Under this agreement shall the following terms be set in stone: The Mines shall be opened for all citizens of Urguan and their allies within the Iron Accord Those within the Iron Accord will send Dorimnur Goldhand a list of citizens and miners they wish to be added. Those desiring access outside of these three kingdoms need to contact Dorimnur Goldhand directly. The Worker’s Guild will receive a boat of their choice from the legion, in agreement with Grand Marshall Dimlin Irongut, to promote fishing as a skill among their members. This boat will not be taxed under the Naval Properties Act The Worker’s Guild will receive a per stone-week salary based on previous Worker’s Guild quota rates. For each completed quota, workers will receive 10 minas stone-weekly from the kingdom. This payment is open to negotiation. Let our people rejoice at this agreement! Ogradhad bless the Workers of Urguan!
  22. The Mages Guild Agreement -=x=- Blessed are the dwed who practice magic in our divine kingdom. To promote the proliferation of magic users on our soil, Urguan shall enter a partnership with the Mages Guild, headed by Archmage Kalgrimmor, in exchange for recognition of the Mages Guild as a Royal Guild under the following terms. The Mages Guild will receive space to practice and teach their craft within the kingdom in their location of choice, provided it does not infringe upon kingdom business. The Mages Guild will swear their loyalty to the Grand Kingdom of Urguan. The Mages Guild, as a Royal Guild, will follow the same guidelines under the Articles of Urguan as other Guilds, including the Guild Gathering Act. The Mages Guild must ensure no magics are hidden from the kingdom. The Mages Guild will continue to sell magical items to the kingdom from a stall of their choice. The Mages Guild will offer their help to the Grand Kingdom in times of need. Failure to comply with these terms shall result in the issue being brought to the High Courts for discussion. May Ogradhad guide those under these terms.
  23. Guild Gathering Act As our kingdom continues to thrive under the divine eye of the Brathmordakin, we dwed find ourselves in a period of weariness. With only the constant work of delving deep into our mountain, creating precious craftsmanship to be sold, and tilling the hearty soil above, our gaze blurs without something to strive for. With the Guild Gathering Act, Royal Guilds will need to put on 1 gathering for the kingdom to attend per stone month to learn about what their fellow dwed are up to and to give guilds a goal to work towards. These gatherings may take place at any date and time the guild finds acceptable as long as it does not overlap with other kingdom events. Should the guilds need monetary funding for their gathering, they may contact the Grand Merchant for negotiation. In addition, the location of the gathering should be discussed with the Grand Merchant, but public spaces such as the square, surface ground, and throne-room will always be available for use.
