  1. The count of Otistadt feels left out by his bestie
  2. An Open Letter for My Daughters From the Count of Otistadt 4 1 6 E.S To my dear daughters, Soon, in the following year, the two of you will reach the age of eighteen, marking your reach of adulthood. While a proper ceremony of a debutante will be held, I wish to pass on a dream I had when I was your age onto you. When I was seventeen years old I was lost, overwhelmed by society and responsibility. I could not see the man I was between the unending work I had to do, I could not see anything but that in fact. To become a better man, I decided I should go on a journey. Leave behind everything I knew, all the roles I was given, all the plans, all the ties. Just for a little while. I wanted to figure out who I was, what I wanted to do with my life, how can I become a better man? Sadly, the risks of leaving were too high and I decided I should not take this time to explore myself, a decision I regret to this day. Hence, I would like to grant you this time to explore yourself now that you are reaching adulthood. Amicia Valerie and Adele Emma, I send you on a quest, travel the world, not as the eldest daughters of the count of Otistadt, but as yourselves. You shall depart from Haense to have time away from all the current ties you have, to have a clearer mind. During your traveling you shall answer three questions for me; I. Who Are You? II. Who Do You Wish to Be? III. What is the real pleasure in life? Only when you return from your quest will you be considered as ready to officially reach adulthood. SIGNED, HIS Excellency, Johann Fredrick Ludovar, High Justiciar of Hanseti-Ruska, Count of Otistadt, Lord of Kazstadt

  6. The count of Otistadt have just left the clinic when he heard of his great aunt's death. His already pale face lost yet another shade. He waited a bit before showing his real emotion, staying strong beside his daughter. When he finally got to his cold room in the top of the keep, Johann broke down. His only aunt who stayed with them, the only aunt who always lent a hand when he needed her... "Spasibo for everything... Vy will be remembered. Spasibo.." He muttered
  7. * goes to cry in a corner Thank you all I appriciate it so much 💕
  8. I did it, Father. [!] The halls of the crypt of Otistadt it was awfully quiet suddenly as Johann walked in his now County alone. He was not used to this quiet anymore… The keep was often full of children running around and screaming, guests coming in to party or just visit, or just Johann’s brain full of noises either planning his next step or just wordless screams that fill his skull. He made his way to the crypt after all were asleep, tired of the party and excitement of the day, a candle lighting his way in one hand and flowers on the other. Johann glanced to one side of the crypt, to the far end of the hall where his late wife’s memorial place was before turning to another place, closer to the entrance. ‘Robert Ludovar, Baron of Otistadt’ He glanced at the sign then at the urn where his father’s ashes were. Johann kneeled as he put down the flowers and laid down the candle. His hands clasped together before his face, eyes closing, praying. “I remember the day father, the day of Marie’s betrothal dinner. She was furious and so were you. You were furious at how you were demoted. You shouted that we need to go to these lengths to rise. I think that is the day both me and Marie understood the weight of our situation. We both gave our souls ever since… devoted ourselves to working hard.” Johann looked at his father’s remains with a pained expression, he sat there in silence, remembering all those years. The silence in the keep when all his uncles and aunts left on their ways. The shouts of his father scolding them, the fear… the fear of losing everything. Johann then glanced at the light of the candle. A tear forming in his eye. “Ever since I… I detested you father. You left me with this curse and showed me love and support whenever you were the but… YOU WERE NEVER THERE! You left us for years then came back and did almost nothing… I had to carry all of this… all of this pressure alone. I married a woman who kept abusing me, I worked until my body could not move anymore, I scolded those I love… I had to shoulder this all alone… But I surpassed you father. I manage this family by love and not fear. I dreamed of following your path as the chief detective but I did not stop and became the High Justiciar. I made our family prosper, if by money or by number or by positions. I made the foundation you and your brother founded actually work. While during your time our house was demoted, during my time we were promoted. A double promotion at that!” He let out a little chuckle, still finding it hard to believe. “Now… I guess I have only one more aspect left to surpass you in.” Johann looked to the rooftop of the crypt, as if looking past it to the sky. It was not a lie his body was aging way too fast. His hair graying by thirty, his face getting wrinkled and the sacks under his eyes visible by the day. His body was failing him more and more, he was never strong but his body was growing weaker and weaker, it was getting harder to stand and walk for long. Johann looked back down and sighed “I might join you sooner than later, father… I am not as strong as it seems. My body… It is failing me way too soon… I am trying to hide it from the family, I don’t want them to worry but… I don’t know how much longer I could shoulder everything. But my children are my pride and joy and I trust them… I trust them to keep the family going when I am gone.” Johann closed his eyes in one last prayer before getting up, cleaning the dust from his armor. A small smile growing on his face “Don’t expect me too soon though. I might not be a fighter on the field but I am in any other way. I will fight to live a bit longer, even if my body will not stand too much more. I can handle it now, because now I know… I know there are people who love me and are waiting for me to come back home at the end of the day to a keep that is now full of life. Thank You Father. I hope you are proud.”

  12. Raijen Stars sat alone in his empty manor. He mused the memories of how he and his friends, the Decadens, always joked around about him being lonely. That loneliness was nothing compared to the emptiness left now, it has been years since the last gathering they had... So long since they had fun together. But it has been the longest since he last saw his best and closest friend, Raden. He missed him like no other and wondered how can he even start comforting his friend, Dianna's loss.
  13. CIVIL AND CRIMINAL TRIALS (OR, A STUDY ON THE PRINCIPAL DIFFERENCES OF CIVIL AND CRIMINAL TRIALS) BY JOHANN FREDRICK LUDOVAR 4th of Wzuvar and Byvca, 411 E.S. Introduction The duties of a Jovenaar of Haense is to find the truth, punish wrongdoers, and settle legal disputes. When a matter is brought before them in the Aulic Court, it can be either a criminal matter - where someone is accused of breaking the law - or a civil matter, in which two Haeseni have a disagreement of law or honour. A Jovenaar must, in either case, ensure that justice is done. This missive published by the Office of the Justiciar will detail the differences of each. The Civil Trial The civil trial is when citizens petition the Aulic Court to settle a dispute with another person, and thus does involve the question of crimes - listed in Chapter II of the Haurul Caezk, the Haeseni lawbook - but rather questions of wrongdoing and dishonour. Thus, the goal of civil trial is to either reach a compromise between the disputing parties, or find the wrongdoing and issue a remedy. Consequently, a Jovenaar may issue an order for a wrongdoing citizen to do or not do something, pay compensation, or other kinds of recompense for an act of dishonour -- these are known as an action order. Typical cases where an action order is applicable are questions of nuisance, harassment, duelling, trade, contracts, broken oaths, and dishonour. For example, were a carpenter to contract a lumberjack for wood but refuse to pay the agreed price, the Aulic Court may force him to do so with an action order. In other cases, an acknowledgment order may be granted in cases where the Aulic Court is called upon to find the truth in a dispute. For example, if the parentage of a child, and possible infidelity, were to be raised, a Jovenaar may investigate and issue an order as to who the child’s parents truly are. During civil trials, the prosecutor would be the plaintiff, the one directly affected by the action, or a representative of them. The Criminal Trial The second one is a criminal trial. Those will take place when one broke a law of the kingdom, listed on chapter II of the Haurul Caezk such crimes usually threaten either the sense or physical security of the kingdom and/or it’s people. While in civil trials might now be as defined, in criminal trials the rules are set in stone and clear, a deed is attached to an existing crime description. During those trials, even if, for example, one was attacked, the victim would not be the plaintiff and is not the one in right to prosecute, but the crown, assigning its own prosecutor on the trial, as going against the law was a crime against the nation itself. For example, in the case previously mentioned, while one was attacked, he might be the direct victim of the crime, yet the action itself threatened the safety and sense of security of the citizens of the kingdom, and broke the law the crown itself has assented, hence going against its words and authority, making it a matter of the crown to take action and responsibility for. Conclusion In conclusion, while criminal trial is a term used for crimes assented to in law and/or causing a threat to the nation in one way or another, while a civil trial refers to other birchs of laws of the nation that are not defined as laws, in which an outer intervention and mediation is needed between the involved parties. In the preparation for a trial the jovenaar shall identify the type of trial that stands before him in order to have the right kind of trial and approach to the case presented to them. SIGNED, His Lordship, Johann Fredrick Ludovar, High Justiciar of Hanseti-Ruska, Baron of Otistadt, Lord of Kazstadt

  17. Upon reading the new hearsey, the High Justiciar, Johann Ludovar, rushed over to his office. He went to the locked box, inside the locked evidence room, all locks still intact. He took out from the box the mentioned letter of prince Andrik and began to compare versions. The hearsey used the exact wording in the letter. He knows of only four people who read the letter itself, yet, for over a year no one but him had access to it. Johann imidiately took out a pen and a paper, sending a letter to lady Nikoleta.

  20. BURNING BLOOD A Call for Those Who Seek Good 4 0 7 E.S Honour needs its keeper, and the law needs its warden. The Office of the Justiciar needs burning blood. Where there is a sinner to be unveiled, or a criminal to be proven guilty, this responsibility falls to the Jovenaar of the Kongzem of Haense to seek out the truth and bring it to light before all the realm. I CALL YOU I, Johann Fredrick Ludovar, High Justiciar of Haense, call upon you to take up the mantle of Jovenaar - as inquisitor, seeker of truth, and judge. What are Jovenaars? The Jovenaar are the magistrates of the Crown of Haense, charged with seeing justice done throughout the Kongzem. This requires them to act as both investigators in seeking out when a crime may have been committed, and sitting as judge when a criminal, or disputing citizens, are brought before them. With the full extent of Haeseni law, the Jovenaar must consider all the evidence to determine the truth, and punish wrongdoers. How is it done? To become a Jovenaar, one needs to be recommended by the Justiciar, approved by the Royal Duma, and finally named to the post by the King of Haense. The position of Jovenaar comes with power and responsibility, and thus the Justiciar must be convinced of sound moral character and sharp mind. Often, an aspiring Jovenaar will serve as a ward to the Justiciar as a trial period before they can be nominated for the position. What is required of me? A head on your shoulders. A Jovenaar needs to make tough choices, with frozen heart and a calm mind. A Jovenaar must consider all law, and all facts, before making a decision that may result in life or death. There can be no hesitation - there can be no hastiness. For a Jovenaar does not serve to only punish the wrong, but to champion justice. Join the Office of Justiciar Today To join, send me a bird or come ask me in person SIGNED, HIS EXCELLENCY, Johann Fredrick Ludovar, Baron of Otistadt, High Justiciar of Haense
  21. Johann Ludovar was now left with a title he never asked for, a broken heart and a family. He adored his father as he was a child, he wanted to be like him. He always asekd his father, who was the chief detective to teach him to be one as well! His father never got to teaching him that, as he never got to teaching him most things. But look at him now, not just a detective but the High Justiciar himself. He mused the idea, how far he has gone since he was the small child with the beaming eyes. Where is that child now? In some parts of his heart he resented his father for years now, he felt like he was left alone with no guidance, handling a crumbling house. He was desprate for support and each time he saw his father he got it but... He rarely did. There was a lot he blamed his father for, but... As his father left him alone for good he realized... With his father around he felt secure. He felt safe. But now... Now it is all on him. With the hearts of his family broken, the overprotective caring brother, son and father knew he must step up. He must be strong for his family. The need someone to lean on... Especially now. Johann has never been a drinker. It can even be said that he is scared of drinking.. But he really wished for a drink now. Oh how much he wished for one. To get drunk with a buddy who doesn't know him, someone he doesn't need to care for or feel responsible for. "Why was I born to this curse?" Johann asked himself, alone, in the Baron's chamber. The new room he never wished for. No one beside him. How he wished for his love to be there but.. She wasn't. Not even her. Johann let a final sigh, wiping his tears as he got up and wore his armor, he took he deep breath and prepared his face calm expression, for another day. Another day....
  22. Upon reading the letter, Johann wrote one of his own, sending the reply with a messanger to Margot. "Dear Margot, I appriciate the care and concern for us, it means a lot, especially during these hard times. I am doing my best to get used to my new role and keep the family together and strong even in these hard times. I hope the hole in our rights even if not filled, could at least one day heart less, and we could rise again. I know that is what papej would have wished for. Thank you again, Signed, Johann." @Mady

He was found killed with a spike of ice, beside his sword and his loyal horse. He died protecting the land and the nation.
