  1. Some nostalgic screenshots of the journey from LotCs first home, Aegis. The first gate in Aegis... with a promise of a world to be built and adventures ahead The Druid Circle grew from humble beginnings, the original druid grotto where an odd hermit lived Aegis, our home, is overrun by the undead who carve a path of destruction in their slow march south. The Wizard Availer returns to summon a portal to a new land so Aegis' inhabitants might escape the cataclysm... The Verge The view as we exited the portal from Aegis, seems... cosy. Clearly some had come this way before. A Druid Expedition group went ahead first and welcomed those fleeing Aegis as they reached the surface. Here the refugees built boats to travel to Asulon The Cloud Temple, rebuilt, far grander than before In Asulon the land is large, littered with ruins, and curious inhabitants. The elven race fragments, and the many humans form a loose Triumvirate of warring nations. Probably some sort of snooty high elves who hug stone walls instead of trees. The journey continues To views from the boughs of a Mother Tree sewn in yet another stange land

  4. Pondering the exact same thing the other day, Lord of the Craft's history is now beyond stories and metaphors we were writing and is now a recounting of the stories we created and enacted together, it's sort of magical how through those cooperative stories LotC grew and became a living thing. Also, remembering how sad the enormous mallet shaped moot chamber looming over Laurelin made Native until it was regrown to be more aesthetically pleasing, 😅 lots of happy memories. Thankyou for gifting us the forest of Laurelin, where our dreams could take root and our imaginations run wild Native. You'll always be the first Druid to me
  5. Serespity offers it's patented staff removal services, proven scientifically to purge any and all 'undesirable' staff from Admin to AT. "Don't tolerate the scourge, get Serespity purged!" "Whipping it good since 2012" #serespityforadmin2014
  6. Serespity removes scum twice as effectively as other household cleaning GM's!

  10. * A small chirruping bird alights upon the Wilting Staff, on his outstretched leg, a note is neatly furled, tied with a grassy bow. "I send word from the Cloud Temple, soon we shall be called upon by the monks to guide those saplings yet to take root in the land of Anthos, to sow a tree within their sacred abode 'n share nature's providence with those in need. Brother Sunshine hath traveled 'neath the shadow of our canopy. A vow to bring harmony to our Order 'n to sow the seeds of our old ways upon his lips. In this he carries our blessing. Let any Archdruid promising to outshine Verden in this speak now, call a Moot to initiate the Challenge for Granddruid. May the Aspects guide us, ~Wayward Druid Respiren "
  11. Forum polls on this sort of question won't provide a great deal of useful information since they only 'sample' people actively using the forums, who see this thread & choose to vote. You may be better off asking the admins for 'stats' on the races of active log ins.
  12. Wayward Druid Respiren squints looking down at the tattered, rain soaked parchment hastily shoved into his hands. "What have ye brought, darkling?"' Reading the parchment he mouths the words 're-growing' and 'reclamation to nature'. Returning his gaze to to Sabrae with a mirthful smile he says "Let us call upon our kin within the grove, to gather sapling and seed, tis rare we are called to such a task"
  13. Fantastic work guys Even for eclipse - I'm not known as a lover of minecraft PvP, yet this seems a step in the right direction from the silly spammy, macro'd norm or the old cumbersome and poorly implemented 'skills' system. A small suggestion when it comes to pvp; As for encouraging roleplay, a focus on offering 'cooperation and consent' would be appreciated, seeing as the ship on pure roleplay has sailed, if it ever made port. Such a focus allows more roleplay to happen around the fighting. It can be achieved by various means and tools with less grey areas where moderators need intervene; subregioned arenas; wars undertook on a robust declaration / agreed upon basis; plugins that allow optional 'dueling' to knockout or death in regions that may usually be peaceful; visual and/or auditory indications of intent to speak / type / respond . All allow a type of 'handshake' between players. This reduction in spontaneity allows roleplay to precede {and continue after} fighting, since it eliminates the worry of being caught 'off guard'. a small caveat; Try to avoid creating unnecessary 'payoffs' for engaging in 'competitive and non-consensual' pvp behaviour. Yes, even without any material or competitive payoffs there are a few people who will still do this just for the thrill and enjoyment of 'beating' another unwilling player and pure shadenfreude - though this behavior is obviously corrosive, if not the antithesis to a functioning, inclusive roleplay community. Such payoffs include things like forcing death on another player to extract the contents of their wallet, inventory or 'character memories', or simple destruction and inconvenience where the player is considered an unwanted presence, or a competitor. Such competition generates unwelcome threats, animosity and distrust amongst people and creates 'payoffs' for the behaviors that oppose roleplay, i.e. powergaming and metagaming. In short, using 'handshakes' & avoiding pvp 'payoffs', will result in more opportunity for roleplay & less moderator time distracted by internecine conflict.
  14. [[Hello everybody! So much derailing of roleplay with unnecessary OOC arguments, not much has changed there! You're missing the point charles - 'Rules' are never set in stone. If the GM's ask players not to do something because it is causing problems, it's not an argument. It's what they consider best or necessary in their judgement to avoid problems & maintain roleplay - and you should learn respect that. Because a roleplay community needs that level of player and staff cooperation to function. Amusingly, this situation is all very reminiscent to me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rtkdo7bOmJc Your complaint about dishonesty and collecting chat logs, a group named 'Flay' going out of their way to cause strife for amusement, players defying simple requests from GM's claiming they are being persecuted. If everyone really wants peace, you simply need to put a stop creating conflict for amusement and be rid of those that cannot. Remember how you were 'permanenly' banned by myself over a similar issue, you could have followed a very simple request which amounted to 'don't metagame, and please leave this player alone' which I thought perfectly reasonable - but instead you chose to be defiant, argue, seek other admins, collect logs etc etc Your and others continued presence on LotC considering your 'permanent ban' and continued behaviour seems rather generous to me. I'd think you are tempting them to reconsider that judgement. ; ) Or as Lennon said from his bed "The War is over, if you want it" ]]

  18. Simply put the rule clarification is ' You need the consent of other players to PvP, don't force it upon people OOC'ly if they aren't interested' The best way to win that consent is to provide enjoyable roleplay! PvP is not outlawed, roleplay in an entertaining and sensible way with others and they may gladly accept your challenge to duel, or 'settle things outside/ by strength of arms'. The moderators understand the concern that some will engage in/refuse to pvp when it suits them and in doing so 'abuse' the rule for their advantage because it is assumed 'they want to win/not lose' - though this is somewhat preferable to PvP being depended upon to remove people's presence or memories forcefully. Truth be told roleplaying is not about winning or losing - quite the opposite it's about high levels of cooperation, impromptu storytelling. Winning in a 'RP' sense involves it being an enjoyable exchange - regardless of the result. Mog is correct in pointing out that by fleeing 'actions speak louder than words' and tacit approval to fall back on minecraft mechanics has been given, though we would prefer people choose to stop and roleplay out the situation. My advice when RP fights aren't quite going as you would like - don't stop to criticize just yet, continue to play along, 'take the hit', comment in character, take the opportunity afterwards to offer friendly constructive advice in review. This way everyone has an opportunity to share tips, and receive feedback - hopefully growing as roleplayers. If things are going very poorly and debate ensues - seek out a moderator, it's not a players place or helpful to accuse others of being 'terrible noobs', resort to threats or try to debate the finer points of RP with someone who isn't listening or simply inexperienced, this can be just as problematic as forced RP and spoils the friendly environment we want - If there are problems call a GM, if no GM is available at the time create a strike report so GM's can review and give advice on problems when they are available. Hopefully we will organise a set of instructive RP fighting let's plays and guides in the same vein as kirrekith's advice above for players to draw upon and direct others to, so as a community we can be strive to be more helpful than punitive.
  19. You don't get banned for entering channels on LotC's either. I warned those guys to stop making personal/sexist remarks and trolling on our TS the day before after a similar incident -at length- . Response? jump into my channel screaming - perhaps they did 'trick' people into joining them guessing it would be a way to avoid consequences - they guessed wrong.

  20. there is that ^^

  21. You can tell the orcs to come back - I'm not that scary
