For you experienced builders out there. Let's say you have an idea of what to build, but cant figure out the design. How would you approach this?

Get concept art/reference pictures to help you, then keep fiddling with a design until you're happy with it. Most experience builders have a base 'style' that their builds always work off of, and have a specific method of how they get to a finished product. If you don't have one hammered out, though, you just have to trial and error until you're happy with it.

Literally just start laying blocks and mold your creation from there. If you have in mind what you want, more invested time in the build will get you closer to it even if you are not particularly skilled or as you say can't figure out the design. The same can be said for writing a paper; No one knows exactly what they are going to write word for word until they are already putting ink to paper, however they already have a general idea before hand- the inspiration if you would.
