Abresi Financial Status
Week 15-16 (27th Jan - 9th Feb)
We have made it through the eighth period with a spring in our step!
Due to our inability to put out the report in time, everyonewill have 2 extra weeks to pay their taxes, as we let all standing taxation carry over, EXCEPT for the people with red wool, whom we will be evicting as normal.
As we are going on with the new taxation system, this is our third run through and we are noticing the people who have kept an eye out and made sure their tax was in on time. Well done to you! But, with the people that do pay their tax comes they people that don’t. In the last report we spoke about our new red wool system, I will run through this quickly again but I will also repost what was said in the last report to make sure you get the idea.
If you have not paid your tax (i.e. missed a taxation period) a red block of wool will be placed in your chest to notify us that you haven’t paid, and to give you the benefit of the doubt. If you see a red block in your chest when you next go to pay your tax, you need to pay double plus one extra paper so that we can account for the week you missed and the fine for missing it. If you fail to pay again after this ‘two weeks grace’ you will be evicted with immediate effect and your house will be put back up for rent.

As always this we will have the much adored local news, but if you want to see the numbers feel free to skip ahead.
Once again we have a new Captain of the Kings Guard, Frederick Barrow (Altiak). He may be young but he can pack a punch, we wish him luck on his new job and hope it’s all he expected.
For more information on the guardforce, give them a look in this thread: http://www.lordofthecraft.net/topic/104215-the-kings-watch-of-abresi/

Secondly, Banok Grey of the Abresi Stewards seems to have settled in nicely, he has been doing his job and doing it well. Again, we still need a few more applicants so please, if you would like to be a part of the team, contact Joseph Lane (Senda). A forum pm would be best, but other means of introducing yourself are of course fine as well.
As Joseph Lane lies on his bed, ill he has decided to donate 10,000 Minas to the city to put us in the green. So a big thanks to Joseph and his will even when he is ill.

Finally, don’t forget to check out what’s happening around Oren with the monthly tournament on its way at the Duchy of Northal, south of Castle Vekon. I will hopefully be making a few more events for the people of Abresi and anyone who wants to join in so keep an eye out and don’t hesitate to tell me if you have a good idea!

The red wool system
Truthfully, a full weeks notice (in-between weeks), followed by an entire week to pay one's taxes ought to be more then enough.. but things can happen.. and it is admittedly a bit of a hassle to evict plots every second week. (It actually takes quite a bit of work behind the scenes to evict someone and get it all sorted out.)
In this light, we are making it more obvious when someone has not paid their taxes and how the process of 'fines' and 'evictions' will now work.
Offense #1: A fine of 50 minas.
The first time someone does not pay their taxes, we take note (as we check the boxes in the tax office.) If we find someone lives in a plot and has not paid the rent, a block of red wool will be put into the chest associated with the plot.
This block of red wool means the following: "You have failed to pay rent on time. Next period, you are required to pay the normal rent, as well as the rent you are still due from the previous period. On top of this, another (1) paper is required, as a fine.
Example: A plot is 150 minas in rent. (3 papers). A person neglects to pay his/her rent and finds a block of red wool in their chest.
Next taxation period, they are required to pay the normal rent (150/3 papers), plut the due rent from last period (another 150/3 papers), as well as a 50 minas fine, in the form of 1 additional paper.. for a grand total of 7 papers.
Offense #2: Eviction.
If the following taxation period comes along and we find the box empty, but with a block of red wool inside.. this meaning the person responsible for the plot has failed to pay taxes for the second time in a row.. they face immediate eviction.
Simple, to the point.
Let this serve as a reminder - we are not in this to bleed people dry of minas. We are here to run a stable financial system that work to the benefit of the city as a whole.
Having said that, it is the responsibility of the citizens to stay on top of current events, up to and including the taxation periods, which are clearly marked in both the Taxation Office, as well as the Visitor Centre.
If you ever find yourself with any questions about this, just contact the Maer or one of the Stewards. We are here to help.
Closing remarks:
We are getting ever closer to green and we should be there within the next few taxation periods, don’t forget to lookout for the small events that will be coming soon and hopefully the next two weeks will be as good as the past two, if not better. Have fun and stop destroying the city!
