Crevel is moreso right it's not some bonkers stance on the Ukraine war or anything (much to the dismay of one particularly vocal former staff member) it's moreso that a large reason why our forums maybe 6-8mo ago were so terrible was because like 1/3rd to 1/2 of our forum traffic was just russian/chinese IP bots that scraped the forums 24h a day, if this has been for two years I don't know what to tell you but we really only did this ban in the last year or so because it was massively slowing down the performance of our actual hardware for the forums since we arent on like AWS or something where we can shift memory (instead of having an entire machine dedicated to it, which we have as far as i know).

I reccommend a VPN, https://1.1.1.1/ (technically a DNS resolver, not a VPN, your mileage may vary) is one that's free and utilized by Cloudflare itself which is the same protection service on the website.

p.s. also wasn't trying to say anything bad about your eventline, I was using it as an example of 'seen it not heard about it' as I'd just like to hear about events, even if I'm not attending them I think it's nice for players to hear about stuff that is going on

yea i get what you mean, no hard feelings at all. it is just frustrating sometimes to hear people say things are bad and I don't know how they arrived at that conclusion. thank you for giving me your thought process and talking it out though, helps me paint a better picture.

we did have antag, as well as ando'alur, dark harbour, cloudbreaker, and a few other pretty large events last map - ET have a lot of support and availability to use lore (alongside, for the first time ever shockingly, maplore). the map is young at just two months old and some ET i think just dont have the energy for a mega-eventline just after the Mori one, from which, a large complaint from players and ET alike were that large scale combat events on repeat or in succession just aren't very fun; which is why the more lax or explorative path by some ET is being taken doing different types of events other than "go here, kill stuff". There is plans for a lot of big stuff this map and obviously an ET can take on any project they'd like, the map is just pretty new and I don't think those options are fully ready to be explored when the ET is starting to ramp up again and isn't set back by lack of buildworlds, warps, and taking time to roleplay and enjoy the server as a primary during the team hiatus which ended only a month ago.

I just think calling it leashed or restrained is damaging and creates an image of a team not allowed to do what it wants to do, which is the polar opposite of the truth. I think we have all the tools available to our disposal (except curios :((( and better pve support :((() to make some good stuff happen. I know some ET like Aldukhan and Whitewolf are already doing/preparing regional eventlines for a larger group of players in the same vein as Naga, which I'm excited to see.

The team's just getting started- a month off hiatus and a week past team reforms and revival, I think we're set for a lot of really cool shit this map I'm very hopeful to see. A lot of maplore being utilized with posts being updated and players really making a difference and their impact on the world through those posts. I've gotten offers from CT to take videos and do posts, I am just cautious on overloading events with too many members and drastically lowering quality and individual impact on them, which has been something I personally have been really proud of with the Naga eventline i'm running personally. 

There is one official restriction on ET, that being playing deities/higher entities with only permission by management. 

As of 8/18/23 since 6/04/23 (transition), considering the non-activity requirement period which ended 7/23/23

135 events took place, impacting 973 non-unique players across ~30 (at the time) team members.

After team audits since 8/18

~52 events have taken place, impacting ~360 (+-about 15 given some ET wrote variance) nonunique players (this is four events a day)

There's plenty of events, and plenty of players taking part- given the ET are picking up in activity post-audit as we cut inactive members, I think your perspective on leashing is an imposed idea that doesn't really have anything supporting it. There's no limit on eventlines unless they push the bounds of common sense (force pking folks, giving really crazy items, destroying large areas, etc.) which we just have managers glance over and thumbs up or work with the ET to make that an availability, of which, I don't think we've denied any eventlines in recent memory.

Being ST means you are brought to have more responsibility and follow stricly more guidelines than player DM events and you can't always do hunts and shit for your own group/friends, especially if you're giving out loot. In general being of staff is limiting because you must keep up an etiquette while as a player you've more freedom. I don't know if you're upset but I hope you are not; because I'm stating my own opinion and how I see it being on the staff due to how other people react and consider it, or how certain things are handled. I mean, you have people going at you because you say a joke or try to poke someone who may deserve it; "Staff should not say x and y!", not saying that's right or wrong but yeah. You're either regarded on a high standard by the community or in general, rendering it way more restricting for you must be more mindful.

 

I don't know if St does have an activity check but that's something else to consider IMO. Being on staff might also be stressful at times and it's not anyone's cup of tea to keep up with that. Again, it's how I see it squahk.

 

 

The only restrictions et have at all is just common sense rules (dont spawn op items for your friends, dont benefit your own character from your events, dont force pk people) team wise; but im just not sure how etiquette inhibits an et other than the standards players are held to, et is just a role for people to do their events and help with others as they'd like without assignment or restriction other than not playing deities and stuff without approval
