  1. Matyas recalled a moment some years ago, when his sister was gone and he was bedridden, where his mother had come to offer him soup to keep him well. Those days, of course, had long passed, and his most recent memories of his mother were of her scolding him for doing things wrong or inappropriately. Nevertheless, the teary-eyed boy still stated a somber, "Ea miss vy, mamej."
  2. The sun was setting over Krusev, and a quiet breeze flew over from the far eastern seas. The leaves of the trees rustled quietly, yet the memorials to the fallen stood proudly still, unwavering and unyielding. They began their normal walk down from the ruined castle, and down to the river, stopping to fill the wooden watering can, before beginning to meticulous water every flower in the forest in order, roses first. By the shadow of the War of the Two Emperors, they halted. "Those lives are not yours to take." "I have taken nothing." "You took Petra from me, from us, from everyone! "I have taken nothing, only given something." "What? Your mercy?" "Yes, my mercy." "Why?! What makes you think you're the one who can grant mercy?!" "It is my duty to do so." "Your duty?! I was her uncle! It was my duty to protect her!" "Then you failed." The war within raged on.
  3. Eirik looked up briefly from his antique copy of the ninth edition of the Golden Crow Chronicles, nodding once to his wife, "Jus' wait fer them t' find ou' ah had me younges' sister lobotomised." He jested.

  5. A CELEBRATION OF VICTORY AIN PRARTZING I VIKTY Peasants gather to celebrate the victory of the BSK in the Siege of Southbridge, 407 E.S. IV LICHTE I ASERVA VIKTY, For the first time in over a century, our people have fought and won in a proper war. Victorious did the BSK march home from Southbridge, having successfully besieged the fort with our allies. As such, Lord Palatine Eirik Baruch deemed fit to task his wards with a project: To hold a festival in the name of our victory. This is the summit of their work. The efforts were spearheaded by Markus Morovar, assigned to do so by the Lord Palatine. Along with generally leading the creation and progress for this event, Markus shall be holding a speech to start off the event. Additionally, he will be holding a raffle, in which grand prizes a-plenty shall be distributed. Finally, he has taken it upon himself that he shall have the entire gathering perform the Kaw Kaw Slide (A Naumariav reimagination of the Renatian Slide). Joining the effort we have Barbara Morovar, who has decided to do face paintings for all those in attendance. Furthermore, she has studied diligently the important women of the war effort and the significant individuals of the siege itself, and shall be holding a speech about them. Karl Sigmar, the Grand Prince of Kusoraev, as well as Mikhail Ruthern and Maric Ruthern are temporarily burying the hatchet over in Hoonse, and will together be responsible for a variety of games that people can play while at the festival, such as a dunk tank, shooting a trebuchet, and testing your strength. Furthermore, Mikhail’s right hand man Konstanz Barclay shall be adding to the games with Whack-A-Wig, an activity increasing in popularity during the war, as well as a game of ring toss, with finger-like pegs being used in reference to the ward’s recent finger loss. And last, but certainly not least, Isabel Baruch will be responsible for holding a boat race during the festival, this shall take place on our docks, and one can expect that the fastest sailor of all will certainly be receiving a prize! OOC: Event will take place Friday the 21st of January At 6PM EST / 11 PM GMT
  6. "Hat." remarked Wilhelm Wald.
  7. Eirik Baruch pens a letter south to Oren, a surprised and saddened expression upon his face as he delivered it to the courier. "Just put on a fake mustache! I am sure that no one would recognise Josef var Asor!" The letter pleaded, the Lord Palatine proceeded to slam his fist into the desk, weeping.
  8. The Duke of Valwyck fondly remembers when he had his portrait drawn by Zarion as a child. He intends to come get another one, now that he is much older.

  10. Left with the beaten body of his cousin, Eirik ordered it loaded onto the carriage, and as Odrin was transported back to Valwyck, Eirik reminiscenced briefly on the things that he had promised Odrin upon his return to Valwyck, of which he would now be unable to see to fruition. This, however, was not to mean that he knew his cousin very well at all, in fact, they had barely spoken at all, but the Duke still saw aspects of himself in the solitary Baruch. "I considered you quite lucky, Odrin." were his finals words spoken thus in his memory.
  11. Eirik Baruch sends a thank you note for the book to Joseph, hoping that he may one day return the favour of helping the Archchancellor gain an essential skill.
  12. "The greatest commander of our time, without a doubt." mused the Lord Palatine, ensuring that he would light a candle for the fallen Lord Marshal.
  13. THE CHANCELLOR’S REPORT: ‘The First Victory’ BAR MAAN OVARE SYR Issued by the LORD PALATINE On this 11th of Tov and Yermey, 407 E.S. VA BIRODEO HERZENAV E EDLEVRIK, THE FIRST VICTORY As I sit and write this, I have a great throbbing hangover from the Carrion Black that I shared with every man and woman who fought in the Massacre of Southbridge. I think this is a feeling that is shared throughout the entire Kingdom. I sincerely doubt that there exists any Haeseni out there that does not suffer from a hangover on this day. Yesterday, we, along with the rest of the Tripartite, marched upon the fort of Southbridge, the best that Oren could muster. To partake in one’s first siege, the first proper siege that our people have seen in over a hundred years, gives one a certain feeling of anxiety and dread, that of all generations that had to endure war, it had to be our own. But when I sailed to the camp outside of Southbridge, along with my friends and allies upon the boats, I was filled with confidence. Adorned in the armour of the Brotherhood of St. Karl I saw the masses of the Haeseni forces, just barely able to make out familiar faces, Maxim Attenlund, Johann Barclay, Johann Ludovar, Marie and Rhys, my sister, Queen Emma, Ser Reinhardt, my cousins Andrik, Frederik, and Viktor, Fionn Castaway, our Field Marshal Ailred Ruthern, and of course, King Sigismund himself. Stoic faces, nervous faces, anxious faces, nevertheless filled with confidence, gifted upon them by the Haeseni ethos that courses through our veins. I shall not dwell too much on the battle itself, for there is not much to say. It was a slaughter. I barely got to see any Orenians myself, with the exception of a poor soldier, thrown over the wall, landing right in front of my feet. The poor man’s legs broke as he impacted with the ground, and I could do nothing but drive my sword through his skull to put an end to what would no doubt have been an eternity of pain before the forces would simply have trampled him to death. I would like to thank every single man and woman who attended the siege of Southbridge, especially to those who lost their lives. We mourn the losses of Ailred Ruthern, Fionn Castaway, and Frederik Baruch. Thank you, Haense. KRUSAE ZWY KONGZEM. APPOINTMENTS TO THE AULIC COUNCIL As is public knowledge, we recently have appointed a new Lady Treasurer and Lord Justiciar. It is my pleasure to welcome these two to the Aulic Council, and I shall work closely with the both of them. Of particular interest to me is the work of the Lord Justiciar, as we continue towards rebuilding the Haeseni Legal System, I shall offer all of my aid in helping him with his station. Of course, I shall not neglect working with the Lady Treasurer, nor shall I neglect any of the other Aulic Offices. It is my pleasure to welcome Johann Ludovar upon the Aulic Council as Lord Justiciar, just as it is my pleasure to welcome my wife, Princess Anastasya, to the Aulic Council as Lady Treasurer. (I am not liable for any claims of nepotism for the appointment of my wife, as such was done with the consent and will of the King!) ZVAS ASERETEM NACHE DERNE. CZAK DONA EAM, HERZENAS HAENZ His Excellency, Eirik Baruch, Lord Palatine of Hanseti-Ruska, Duke of Valwyck, Count of Ayr, Viscount of Voron, Baron of Gant, Baron of Laval, Baron of Riveryn.
  14. The Duke of Valwyck made sure to dedicate a spot within his crypts to the fallen Seneschal, who he supposed may well have been Ayrian, at least in spirit. Meanwhile, the Oracle awoke from their slumber then, and retrieved an old watch that he had been given by his friend once upon a time. He had won it from a game of darts, in which he, of course, had the advantage given that Fionn only had had one eye. His fingers glid over the watch, and he offered a simple, "Hello, old friend."
  15. Helping you when you first became a moderator and witnessing your passion was one of the most enjoyable things I've ever done. It was a pleasure to work with you.
  16. Eirik Baruch wonders whether he should allow his daughter's declaration to inspire him or not. He then promptly remembered that he was married to the King's sister, and thought better of it.
  17. [!] A shoddily written missive is spread throughout the Kid Kingdoms of Haense as their newfound civil war begins. PLEASE HELP ME Lauritz, as drawn by Lauritz. Hi, I am Lauritz. I am from Kalden, grandfather kicked me out because I was bullying Emil. He sent me to Haense and told me to find Uncle Konrad. I cannot find Uncle Konrad, so now I live in a wooden box on Robert’s Road. You have many Kingdoms. I want to help you but I want a bed. I am going to be King of Kalden one day. I am a good friend. But I really want a bed. The wooden box is uncomfortable. Also I get really cold. Thank you. Please help, Lauritz August Ludvigsen, Duke of Rosenborg.
  18. The first Lord Palatine of Hoonse wonders how the Kingdom has fallen so far. Certainly, this would not have happened during the reign of Koenas Anastasya.
  19. Eirik Baruch wonders where Sigmar truly did go...
  20. A simple letter was sent in private to Lord Nikolai Kortrevich, and upon it it bore the bear of Baruch. @Phersades "To Nikolai Mikhail of the House of Kortrevich, Do not fret, I write not to you in any official capacity. I would rather that you see this letter as a letter of advice from a friend, for such is my intention with it. As you know, our ancient nobility stretches back centuries, your house, the House of Kortrevich, has been amongst our nobility since the year 260 E.S., and has always been a close friend of my own family. Such is why I write to you, we are inherent friends. There have always been certain duties for our ancient nobility, you point some out yourself. We must always fight for the sake of the realm, such is true, but yet even for the sake of such we must never neglect to maintain ourselves within the realm, too. I admire your bravery and ambition in challenging your brother, but I find your challenge to be misguided. It has always been the duty of the first born to rule, such was the case of your brother, Vladrik. Your duty as the fifth child is not to seek out and challenge your brother, it is to support him and your family when it needs you the most. This is a matter in which you must exude patience for the better of your House and the Realm. I know you already seek to aid the House as much as you can, through the BSK and the Royal Duma, but you must not act rashly upon a matter such as this. I do not wish to bore you with my thoughts, for perhaps you may not care about them at all. Nevertheless, while I shall not seek to enforce myself upon this matter in any official regard, lest further reason to do so become clear. I will remind you to be patient in the matters of dynastic politics, and that at times such as these where the patient are rewarded, not the rash. Eirik."
  21. Eirik Baruch, who was by all means a mediocre bagpipe player, continued to aim the sound of his bagpipe in the direction of his Orenian counterpart, though frowned gently at the d'Azor's comment, muttering only that he thought he had improved since last year.
  22. AND IT CAME TO PASS IN THOSE DAYS AN ANNOUNCEMENT FROM LICHTESTADT Eileen Marcella and Freya Lyall, 405 E.S. And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Koeng Sigismund III, that all the Kongzem should be taxed. And this taxing was first made when Baruch was Lord Palatine of Haense. And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city. And Eirik also went up from the Crownlands, out of the city of Karosgrad, into Valwyck, unto the castle of Matyas, which is called Lichtestadt; because he was of the house and lineage of Matyas: To be taxed with Anastasya his espoused wife, being great with child. And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. And she brought forth their fourth born and fifth born daughters, and wrapped them in swaddling clothes, and laid them in their cribs; because there was plenty of room for them in the keep. And there were in Lollybroch shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the courtiers of the Duke came upon them, and said unto them: Behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the Castle and City of Mastyas two Ladies, which are Lady Eileen Marcella Baruch and Lady Freya Lyall Baruch. And so the courtiers went about their ways, spreading the news to all of Valwyck, and the courtiers praised Lord Baruch, and said, Glory to House Baruch. And it came to pass, as the courtiers were gone away from them into the castle, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Lichtestadt, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Duke hath made known unto us. And they came with haste, and found Anastasya, and Eirik, and the babes lying in their cribs. And they were brown of hair, and blue of eye, like their father was. TO THE PEOPLE OF VALWYCK AND OF HANSETI-RUSKA, Upon this Tuvmas night, the HRH Duchess of Valwyck had gone into labour, and delivered with the aid of her husband, the Duke of Valwyck, two twin girls. The Ducal family henceforth, with the birth of these twins, now consists of a set of five daughters. Thus is promptly announced, the birth of the elder, Marcella Eileen Baruch, and the younger, Freya Lyall Baruch. Both were born on the 24th of Gronna and Droba, 405 E.S. Both children are of good health, and carry their father’s brown hair, accompanied by a pair of blue eyes. The Duke and Duchess do extend their condolences to whichever poor clergyman will have to perform the baptism of their five children. Czak dona eam, Herzenas Haenz, His Grace, Eirik Baruch, Lord Palatine of Hanseti-Ruska, Duke of Valwyck, Count of Ayr, Viscount of Voron, Baron of Gant, Laval, and Riverryn.
