  1. THE CREATION MYTHOS ~ ᛞᚨ ᚴᛁᚱᚴᛃᚨ ᛞᚡᛖᚱᚷᚨ ~ -=- Book One: The Forging of Reality When being had not yet become and the only existence was Vuur’dor and the primordial forces within it, there was no purpose, there was no design. There was only chaos. But sound through the dark expanses of Vuur’dor was a boom, the fall of a hammer. With each hammer’s strike did the primordial forces, once chaotic, bend into shape and were given the design that only a Creator could give. YEMEKAR, lord of creation, used his infinite might and power to shape reality. As he demonstrated this strength, so did KHORVAD, god of power, come into being. He was tied to the reality YEMEKAR had made, a reflection of YEMEKAR’s ability to create. YEMEKAR however was not satisfied with such a creation, and set out to decorate reality so that it could serve as the canvas for a far greater work; YEMEKAR would make a being like himself. YEMEKAR knew that in order to make a being like him, he must make for them a home. The forge-father took his hammer and hit the world, shaping it into mountains and valleys, hills and dells. He took his chisel, and with it shaped caves and forests into his creation. Lastly, he held his creation in the fires of his soul forge, and the heat of the forge would become the warmth of the hearth, bringing life and comfort to the forests and caves. As life became so did ANBELLA, the Hearth Mother. She would look over the hearth and extend the grace of it to those who earn her blessing. The sparks and embers of the soul-forge’s fire burned into YEMEKAR’s world, seeping deep within the rock. They became the gemstones and valuable ores, materials that YEMEKAR’s children may use in their crafts to make great works in his name. Sparks and embers that flew into the air became the stars, bright and powerful gemstones in the sky. As the treasures were deposited in the deep darkness, became GRIMDUGAN, Lord of Greed, who would guide the children of YEMEKAR in their search for objects of great beauty and hoarding their wealth. YEMEKAR reached into the soul-forge with his tongs and took out a large ember. He set it in the sky above his creation, and it burned brilliantly and brightly until it was golden. It was similar to the other stars in the sky as it had great value, but unlike the others, it was meant to be exchanged, not hoarded or used in crafts. It was the first coin, and by its beaming light YEMEKAR’s children would be able to exchange their crafts and skills, and its rays became trade and bartering. And became ARMAKAK, the Merchant Father. He would guide the mouths of the tradesmen so a favorable deal is made and prosperity reaches all. YEMEKAR took his creation, hot from the fires of the soul forge, and doused it. The waters poured into the world and filled the deepest and widest valleys, creating the seas and rivers, some waters cooling into steam and forming the clouds. The speed and excitement of the coursing rivers and rushing winds became the feelings and emotions of the world and became BELKA, Lady of Passion. She would guide the hearts of the world to mercy and would inspire divine passion into people who earn her blessing. YEMEKAR’s creation, now becoming more ornate and detailed than ever, was carried to his workbench. There the soulmason placed his chisel on his creation and carved into his creation names of what he had made in his sacred language. These symbols and names, known as runes, carried great power in them. As the runes were carved into creation, so did become wisdom and scholarship, and became OGRADHAD, Lore Master. He would guide those who dedicated time to discovering his vast knowledge in their research and extend his blessing of divine wisdom to those with the temperance and humility to earn it. His forging near-complete, YEMEKAR took a smooth stone from his workbench, and with his tongs deposited it deep in the fires of the Soul Forge. It burned bright and hot in the Soul Forge for a millennium, until he took it out. It was so burning hot that it was pale and glowed faintly. He took the stone and placed it on his workbench, carving a rune into it, naming it. It became Khaz’a’dentrumm, and it would serve as the home of the gods that had been made, as well as the resting place of his children once they were done crafting on the world he made them. Thus became death, and its patron DUNGRIMM, Lord of the Dead. He would guide those children of YEMEKAR who perished to the next life in Khaz’a’dentrumm, and give his blessing to those who would risk death for the sake of honor. -=- Book Two: The Shaping of Souls YEMEKAR looked at his creation, beautiful in its design and perfect balance. He saw that it was time to begin a far more complex project. YEMEKAR placed the world again on his Ruhn-Anvil, ready to create the first souls, the rest of the Brathmordakin at his side. He was going to make a being like him, and thus the Forge-Father set to work. For his first attempt, YEMEKAR decided to forge a being with great power and might. He reached into the fire of a volcano and bent it into form, and it became Krug. Krug was mighty, having a strong determined will, however he did not use it as YEMEKAR did to shape and craft, but he used his strength for violence. Krug saw the world as a challenge, and everything was just his next opponent. And thus the blood of the orkos would forever flow with destruction. YEMEKAR saw the destructive nature of Krug and knew that he would have to instill an intense loyalty and love for the world into his creation. He reached into an ancient forest of trees towering into the sky, and grabbed the gentle breeze, shaping it into form, and it became Malin. Malin was curious, his obsession and love for the world around him would guide him not to hurt a fly, and he would tend to the forests rather than destroy them as Krug had. However he was not by his deep love of the world inspired to create as YEMEKAR had, but instead he would only keep and study what was already made. Malin saw the world as a perfect garden, obsessed with maintaining it; he would never dare use the resources YEMEKAR had gifted him to make something new. And thus the blood of the elgus would forever flow with preservation. Looking at the powerful and bloodthirsty orkos and the passive elgus, YEMEKAR then sought to make a soul that was not prone towards anything, one that would be shapeable and could be formed into anything. The Soulmason looked to the rolling hills and reached into the rivers coursing between them, and from its bank he drew out clay, folding it into form, and it became Horen. Horen was simple, he did not have a great passion for anything, yet was able to do many things, a jack of all trades. However Horen did not with his variety of skills use them to create great works as YEMEKAR had, but instead to further his own interests. Horen became obsessed with himself, and saw the world as his to exploit. And thus the blood of the umros would forever flow with simplicity and selfishness. YEMEKAR gazed upon the three persons made so far, and felt that none lived up to his expectations. He laid his sight on a mighty mountain, with a teeming forest and deep cavern below it, and pulled from its heart a shining jewel. It was ornate and sturdy, and YEMEKAR then forged it into form, and it became Urguan. Urguan was inspired by the beauty of YEMEKAR’s creation not to destroy, preserve or further himself, but instead to create. He took the resources available to him and shaped the world into great works. He saw the world as a canvas, just as YEMEKAR had. And thus the blood of the dwedmar would forever flow with creation. YEMEKAR knew he had finally made the perfect being, one like him. He looked back to the misshapen souls, imperfect and corrupt in their design. However, despite their failings, YEMEKAR in his infinite love for his creation could not bear to destroy what he had made, even if imperfect. Having made his perfect creation and letting live the three failures, the yrrommar, YEMEKAR retreated back to his halls in Khaz’a’dentrumm, the rest of the gods joining him and becoming the Brathmordakin, and they rejoiced as creation was complete. -=-

    Goodbye.

You will be missed, one of the more positive people in the community from my experience.
  13. Show some respect yrrok, the greatest dwarf of all time just died.

  14. High Preceptor Norli Starbreaker stands shocked besides his companions besides the deathbed of Charles, his eyes welling up at the death of the war-hero. He remembered when he first met, at Charles’ trial for attempted murder. At that moment, standing besides the Chief Justiciar, the magistrate was a bit confused by the rumors he had heard. He had heard legend of the mighty warrior, the GRAND CHAMPION who many historians agree was single-handedly responsible for the collapse of Kaz’Ulrah. Intead, before him stood a crippled Charles. Is this the infamous kingslayer? Surely not, the cave dwed thought. Norli Starbreaker would be proven wrong. In the war with Krugmar, Charles the Bald took a common grunt rank and would fight alongside many soldiers. On the battlefield, Charles proved his title worthy. Through tireless dedication to warcraft and a passionate love for his nation and gods, Charles the Bald took the lives of countless orkos. Of the swaths he slaughtered, 92 have been confirmed and named, however a majority of Charles’ opponenets’ bodies were so devestated by his rage that they could not be recognized, leaving many historians to estimate he may have killed close to a few hundred orc. Norli Starbreaker fought alongside Charles in the deep cracks of the warzone, and he laid first hand witniss to the elder warrior’s grand feats of bravery. He knew he was wrong to judge the hero as weak, and recognized Charles the Bald for what he was: the GRAND CHAMPION. A year later, Norli Starbreaker was sitting at his desk writing up works for the Brathmordakin. Suddenly, a cry echoes throughout Varoth’Akvel. Rushing to the source, Norli Starbreaker and Atandt Irongrinder enter the room to find Mafraedon Irongrinder collapsed and in tears besides Charles the Bald lying on his bed. Charles looked peaceful, content with his deeds. A small smile could be seen marking the legend’s face, however his eyes were locked shut. THE GRAND CHAMPION WAS DEAD. Norli Starbreaker shook his head, perhaps in denial of such a fate. However he looked up, closing his eyes. As his mind was wrapped in darkness, he could invision the moon hanging in the Night Sky, the jewels of the sky shining and singing for the hero as Dungrimm carried the GRAND CHAMPION to Khaz’a’Dentrumm. A tear rolled down his cheek as he opened his eyes, to take one last gaze on Charles’ corpse. As the High Preceptor mourned the loss of the hero, it seemed the whole of Yemekar’s creation went silent in respect for Charles the Bald, the GRAND CHAMPION of Urguan.
  15. I really like the idea of adding small little lore bits like this to add more flavor to our environment, maybe I’ll write some one of these days. We should add a water system in the caverns somewhere so we can do this, I know Ironguts had designed some water systems but they were never pasted in.
  16. From the Desk of the High Preceptor : Order ~ 4th Edition : 10th of The Deep Cold, 1765 ~ When Yemekar crafted the world, it was at first sacredly ornate and with perfect balance. He brought order to the chaotic primordial forces of the void. Order is a thing of exceptional value, a good and virtuous thing, which is why the era we are in now is one of particular importance. We currently are in an era of disorder. We are at war, and many uneasy sentiments exist among our kinsmen. It is the duty of not just da Kirkja Dverga but of all organizations across dwarfdom to ensure that order is found and not upset further. Da Dverga eron da Kirkja Rhun On the subject of disorder, last stone day Karl Blackroot announced that he would be making his own independent clergy, naming it the Order of the Holy Power. This was an announcement of some shock to da Kirkja Dverga, specifically concerning some of the practices that were listed in the document. Within it, Karl Blackroot writes that the Seers and their council have the ability to interact on a direct level with the gods and interpret their will. Karl Blackroot lists among the duties of his Seer council the ability to determine if a story regarding the Brathmordakin is legitimate, assuming the authority to determine the will of the Brathmordakin. Karl Blackroot In the years leading up to the creation of this strange new holy order, Karl Blackroot has made many statements, both officially and in person, that help give insight to the situation. For as long as I’ve known Karl, he has been aggressive to myself and the notion of the clergy whenever mentioned. When he was told that the Hefrumm may be a site of a new shrine for an upcoming order of Anbella, he expressed discontent and frustration that the “cave-dwellers” of the capital had anything to say about how things should be run in Hefrumm. That same day, I discovered the fact that Karl, then Cottonwood, was given the title of High Seer of Hefrumm by the High Chief, and that he planned to teach more seers. There he also expressed some distaste for the clergy vocally. At the moment, it seemed that being a Seer was just a teaching role within the community, much like an elder. I was not aware that it was based around rituals that claimed to host active communion with the gods. Response These are dangerous claims. This Seer council is an attempt at undermining and replacing the established clergy and the traditions it and sons of Urguan hold so dearly, as evident by claims of active communion with the gods and the desire to hold rituals that are performed by the clergy. Denying such knowledge is foolish and absent minded. Continuing to pursue this false clergy will lead only to more disorder in times where we must be united in faith and purpose. The priests of da Kirkja Dverga met to discuss this, and a consensus was made. To claim the ability to know the will of the Brathmordakin and the nature of reality without the basis of tradition is a dangerous heresy. Combined with his history of anti-clergy sentiment and the deeds of his father, there is reason to believe that Karl Blackroot is seeking to bring disorder to the clergy and across all of dwarfdom. Such is feared amongst the ranks of da Kirkja Dverga, however this is not a condemnation. Da Kirkja Dverga offers to Karl Blackroot court summons to confront the suspicions of heresy so that we may reach a mutual understanding, and perhaps a possible collaboration. Until a result is decided, the Seer Council is deemed null, and all people who Karl Blackroot had led to become Seers are instructed not to continue to claim this false title. ~ Narvak oz Brathmordakin ~
  17. 19. From the Desk of the High Preceptor : Balance Upset ~ 3rd Edition, 15th of Grand Harvest, 1762 ~ When Yemekar had done in forging the mountains and valleys, once the forests and caves had been given life, once the excited waters of the world flowed, the jewels of the night sky shimmering, the great coin in the sky was set, once the world was carved with runes and named, and once Khaz’a’dentrumm was forged in the fires of the soul forge for a millenium, the world was with balance. However, in order to make such intricate creations as the descendents, he had to instill chaos into them, that random chance and divergence from his otherwise orderly creation that would make it so much more complex and beautiful. When the All-Maker made the dwedmar, the creation most perfect in his image of the descendents, he had given them the task of leading the other descendents to honor, to guide and preserve the balance of creation so that they may continue to bask in his creation and commit to their craftsmanship. That balance has been upset. The orkos of the Krugmar have for the last few decades acted with dishonor and as thieves. They have used the gifts of might bestowed upon them by the All-Maker to ruthless destroy, and their culture has become corrupted to only being that of bloodlust. Where once perhaps there was honor in the ork’s bravery, they hide behind walls and fight only when at a clear advantage. They pillage the weak and brutalize those who would dare resist. This all culminated when a few stone days past, the orkos of the Krugmar raided Sutica and kidnapped a dwed guard there, a citizen of the Under-Realms working to protect the people they and their clan conducted business with. The orkos took her to Krugmar and brutalized her, and only relinquished her when the dwedmar showed up with a large force. Too long has this been allowed, too long has the ork culture been that of dishonor, too long have the children of Urguan let the orkos disrupt the balance of Yemakar’s creation. It ends now. Rex of the Krugmar, you are given these terms for how you may fix your culture and begin the process of amending your wrongs. First, the orkos who had been responsible for the kidnapping and brutalization of the dwed in question shall be submitted to Urguan to be given a trial in the High Courts, and exiled from ork lands. Second, the leadership of the Krugmar are to pay a fine of 20,000 minas to Urguan so that they may learn the cost of failing to keep your people in order, and failing to keep the deeds within your city honorable. Third, the leadership of the Krugmar is to take active steps in redeeming their people, and preventing the sons of Krug to devolve into cowardly bandits. It is not the desire of the dwedmar to see the sons of Krug wiped out, to see the destruction of a creation Yemekar chose to let live. We do not seek genocide, we seek improvement, and extend to the orkos a chance of redemption. It is with the interest of the Brathmordakin and the cooperation and support of Urguan and its legions that I offer these terms, and rejection of them will stand as dishonor to the Brathmordakin and to the Under-King. High Preceptor and Magistrate Norli Starbreaker sighs as he reads over the latest edition of DNN. “I at first was hesitant with agreein’ ta Chief Justiciar Dwalin Irongut’s choice o’ postponing, but it seems quite evident dat da prosecution was nae properly prepared fer da case and da defense was over prepared. I’m confident dat it was an unfair balance of power on da two legal teams, and dat da postponement will only serve ta aid da defense, perhaps just as they needed.”
  24. Norli Starbreaker puts pen to paper and writes away at his desk a ‘quick’ response to the theory: Dangren Starbreaker, Yemekar has forged your path with many years and a long beard. Yet despite your many years of experience you make several grave errors in your theory and write with such disregard to a member of the Brathmordakin, to the extent one may find it shocking you are a wise elder of the esteemed Kornazkarumm. One must learn to show respect and reverence to our gods when theorizing their nature, yet Ogradhad’s wisdom evades you, and you speak dishonorably of a host of the Brathmordakin, Grimdugan, Lord of Greed. You will be in contact with myself and a priest of Grimdugan in private in the upcoming days to arrange your tribute to him to make amends for your dishonor to him, and do not deny Ogradhad’s wisdom again and think I shall look lightly on this insult due to our clan in common; what you have done is very serious. -=[o]=- However, I would only validate your belief that our faith has no foundation were I not to respond properly, so allow me to speak reason into your heart. We are the chosen people of Yemekar and he has made us with the intent of making us in his image, of this there is no doubt of. Yemekar is a craftsman and a leader, his leadership a result of creating those that he leads. For the dwedmar to be his chosen people and made in his image, we would by extension be the most naturally talented craftsmen of the descendants and be leaders among them, this I have no doubt as I doubt you do. As a devout follower of the doctrine of Yemekar’s Balance, I am sure you know better than most a dwed’s duty towards leading creation to balance, and as a Starbreaker and a golemancer I am sure you know the natural affinity of dwarves with creation better than most. Now by extension, I ask what does one need to create? Materials, to be sure, and would not the people of the Forge-Father not be entitled to the best materials for their crafts? Would it not be an immense blessing, not a curse, to have an affinity for gathering materials of great value? I think any dwed who does not actively seek to dishonor Ogradhad by denying common sense would be able to agree to such a conclusion that greed is not inherently wrong by any means, and in fact is a blessing. Now, one may assert that greed undoes balance, that it consumes people and leads them to wrongdoing. I deny this, and say it is not an abundance of greed but a lack of morality that leads people to undo balance and commit dishonors. It is the lack of understanding the faith, fault on either the part of the person or their teacher, that leads to dwarves committing dishonorable deeds. There have been many times where people would teach that Yemekar’s Balance and Grimdugan’s Greed are justifications for harming others without necesity, something I have long opposed and fought against in the past, and continue to this day. When I met you before you wrote this theory, I was explaining this lack of proper worship to Grimdugan and how a new order dedicated to purifying and correcting his worship was in the plans under the leadership of the Grand Prospector, Bodmer Goldhand. It seems to me if you had listened and joined the conversation you would perhaps have not the need to have posted your theory, and I condemn you lack of understanding, and implore you to do further research and partake in discussion before you make such public statements again. -=[o]=- We will meet soon, Dangren Starbreaker, to discuss your apology and tribute to the true god of dwarven greed, Grimdugan. If you’ve any questions, you may seek my counsel in person. Thank you, and may Ogradhad touch your mind and grant you the wisdom to see your error. Norli signs the response and attaches it to the end of Dangren’s paper.
  25. (( Absolutely fantastic I think, we should pursue making more of these for other things. ))
