no ******* way staff is expecting us to build huge keeps and builds in survival right???? they remove pastes and LC plugin isn't ready for "the forseeable future" that is absolutely ridiculous and does not incentivise me to contribute to any vassals/lairs/etc builds because i will spend 10+ hours on a build server with room and infinite resources to make mistakes and undo them in the build, then i will have to spend perhaps double that gathering resources and rebuilding it by hand AGAIN on live with litematica, don't even get me started on terraforming in survival. if this is a continuing occurrence i forsee huge stagnation in terms of scenery on the server

you'd be surprised to hear nations weren't required to downsize their cities in proportion to the smaller map. feels like if we want less metropolis cities we should start with basic capital regulation such as "no 300x300 cities." im 100% on board with less gargantuan cities but there are better ways to do that than stripping building down to its most frustrating and time-consuming form and punishing everyone else

I reread my application and realized I completely forgot I was telling this guard my backstory I went into auto story mode and told her why I was there, and not my backstory like I was supposed to lol. I probably will post a revised version later "With a Backstory."

I feel like as time goes on we're starting to see less and less consistent, passive RP in the activity hubs and more and more afk standing or running around in circles - I feel like every time I try to RP with strangers they're either totally afk or there's just no interest at all. I've always experienced the opposite with post-map transitions where RP seems to be at its peak, but with Braevos it still feels like we're at the end of last map when RP momentum was at its lowest. Might be really anecdotal and I could just be not trying hard enough, but has anyone else experienced this?

when will applications be made more difficult/like, actually REQUIRING people to understand shit and know what theyre getting into. Its one thing to advertise lotc more widely but you still need to make sure those people who apply will actually you know, do good

if your concerns are with how readily accessible basic server lore is I can get behind that 100% but your original status update gives the impression of just wanting to make it more difficult to join for the sake of it
I had a conversation with Amayo about the current application format and I was shown a more refined version which looked really promising. it reworded and clarified the metagaming/powergaming sections, and took a different direction for the RP-scenario instead of just having it be an in-character infodump. unfortunately these changes can't be made without telanir and trying to get him around takes a smoke signal these days
but realistically what more does a new player need to know than dwarf elf human orc, four brothers, the racial curses and blessings, the name of the map? I think it's really unnecessary to ask that new players receive an infodump of every existing nation, faction, magic, religious group etc when, like @Poor_Fellow, they're more likely to actually care and remember these groups if they learn about their existence through RP instead of being forced to read about them for the sake of their app. if they don't need to know something, there's no reason it should be shoveled down their throat and it's more likely to chase (most) people away than help them. this page imo is all the lore a new player should be asked to read before joining as well as the current continent name

agree with the above two tbh I loathe the mindset of holding new players to unnecessarily high standards. If u speak english and genuinely enjoy roleplay (and obv are willing to adhere to the server setting and shit) it should be a pass in my book. we should be willing to help players who are less experienced or are obviously younger or struggle to understand certain components of lore as opposed to people who have zero desire to learn or work with other players. we should be more willing to help people improve than wanting to bar them from the server before they've even joined

I'm not sure why, but I don't play because I'm afraid I'll screw something up BIG TIME (Not using In character chats, forgetting commands, Caps lock, not paying attention, etc.) and not be liked from then on because I'm a bad role player. I sometimes lose track of things and keeping up with stuff is kind of important on a roleplay server. So yeah, if you do see me online, (as rare as the planets aligning,) feel free to give me some practice role-play! Anyways, that's my post, see you around.
