Can’t really give screenshots of it due to you know... Traveling not being easily representable. Might actually start cooking up some posts on it though.

They just carried on their day?” “Yes, Marcolo.” “Well that changes things a bit, now doesn’t it?” “... Yes, Marcolo.” That was the brief conversation Marcolo had with his captain, and Marcolo had to think on things. He felt he had a choice, it’s just was the answer he wanted to choose correct? So he then took it upon the council he assembled: the council of pirates or “privateers”. A few spoke and debated like civilized men, till one interjected and said the most important sentence of this meeting: “We’re pirates, ain’t we?” And so it was settled. Marcolo had forgotten that fact but now that he knew it he knew his answer. It was time for war. Those who would give no reaction to a blockade mustn’t struggle during a true battle, correct? That is what Marcolo supposed when he began arming his ship with canons and supplies. That is what he thought when he barked orders to the Brigandiers as they loaded the transport ship, and that is what he will think when he arrives at Spanish shores and bombards them with ammunition. That is not what Antonio thought, though. Antonio knew that those people were already prepared by the time the pirates came into their harbor the first time. They were going to wait the pirates out, not give them what they want. Sadly for these people, the pirates always get what they want. So he wrote up a former declaration of war as quickly as he could and went back to his many other affairs. Those affairs mainly including the market, for he had to build it up much more than it already was. Santiogo was more of a city of trade than a place rich with resources, that was for the other colonies. No, Santiogo was on the route that those northerners took if they fretted the northern passage to the mainland too dangerous (though Antonio thought it was quite the opposite). So the logical conclusion was to bolster the market; the more money that exchanges hands the better- for there was a better chance it would end up in the town’s pockets rather than the pirates. If the spanish were to be silent, Marcolo would make sure they stay silent. I mean after all Marcolo had given them a year’s worth of time, which should be more than enough to give a response. Hell, I’d bet that a nation from the mainland could respond quicker than this. With that Marcolo broke the news, and of course the brigands were overjoyed. No longer were they in a time of stagnation, but now in the time of war. For all these privateers had been doing was scouting and sitting at bay. Which, granted, is a nice life to live but nae the pirate life they wished for. News spread fast. The war was far from unexpected, for Antonio’s top priority was keeping up to date with the pirate’s actions. Not doing so would be purely stupid if he ever wanted to liberate Santiogo from the rapscallions. With the information Antonio received, he formulated a proposition; a proposition that Marcolo likely wanted. Antonio was going to take care of the management. Management of the settlements, which he was already doing, management of trade, which he was trying to do, and management of foreign relations. The last wasn’t something he was attempting to do with his own power before, but he still decided to grab at it. A choice that likely affected the entire state, for now Antonio had the power in choosing who and who not to have relations with, at least if Marcolo accepted… Sadly for Antonio Marcolo was a smart man, he knew giving up diplomacy ment giving up his authority as leader. Though Marcolo had also been keeping a bit of watch on the colonists, so he offered a compromise on the duty of diplomacy. If Marcolo and his captains were unable to come to a decision amongst themselves, the ruling by Antonio would be the tie breaker. Antonio accepted this offer immediately. Summary

The envoy had turned up empty handed which isn’t quit tolerated but there also isn’t much you can do about it either. Marcolo sent a schooner westward since it seemed Spain could do nothing, he saw not a single ship docked at their shores. Still the Brigands grew restless, they had no gold to plunder or any other task for that matter. They couldn’t even escort freighters to and from settlements. Marcolo did his best to keep them maintained and busy, though he could not do much to defend the colonists. Either way he sent scouting missions and envoys all over the Caribbean, maybe he can at least secure a trade partner if he cannot secure a tributary. Antonio kept his tribute coming, though, for yield from the fields increased steadily and quickly. In fact he is sure the next harvest he could support both the pirates and the citizens! It seemed even though his request for trade was unanswered, the settlement will still survive. As such Antonio is thankful for that, and so are the pirates he thinks. Since no longer do they have to force the people to give up food, with plenty to share such crop is easily given up. But Antonio still isn’t content with his situation. Summary

Well until they weren’t, about two months in (after they discovered a settlement) the brigands stopped partying. It was time to pirate. Marcolo begin preparing his crew, checking the cannons, and generally making sure during those two months nothing had really gone wrong on those ships. Though there was a huge problem: rats, these suckers set them back months as they had to exterminate them. Anyways, Marcolo decides to send a frigate, two schooners, and a small freighter as an “envoy” to these lovely people. The frigate with himself on it, and the schooners n’ stuff manned by irrelevant captains. Off he goes to some island west of him! Also known as New Spain... These Colonists and their leader? Well they’re doing swell. Antonio was managing everyone quite well, they even got an alright harvest! Until the Pirates took most of said harvest… Ya, by swell I mean people were starving and still scrounging for food. Finding little when they went further inland, Antonio hatched up a plan. See the Pirates had found numerous settlements and Antonio was sure at least one of them wasn’t starving and might even have a surplus of food. So he persuaded a pirate captain, through the usage of promising a percent of next harvest that pirates didn’t have to steal, to go attempt diplomacy with him. And that is how it went, well except that Antonio continued to till more land in an effort to be self-sustaining of course. Summary

Too be honest they thought they would’ve been caught and killed in battle or, if they were captured, hanged once they reached land. Maybe thrown overboard if food was scarce. Which it was, Marcolo’s Brigands flopped on their asses immediately when they reached dry land and for a couple months simply partied with what they had. Luckily for them they had a few that weren’t as mentally handicapped, a couple actual colonists riding with. And these pirates sent them off to do well… Colonist stuff of course. Though unluckily for them, it’ll take a while before any crop is grown and so the pirates are left on an island basically stranded, trying to round up whatever food they could get. Well it wasn’t all horrible, Marcolo set himself a chain of command once they landed. Dubbing captains of the frigates, sloops, and the lone corvette. Though that’s all he did, simply the captains. Marcolo was a man who had freedom in his heart, so he left those to their own freedoms. Only asking that they scout the land to see if those Venetians landed or any other colonists landed. Meanwhile the actual colonists… are doing useful things. One notable fellow has rose above the others, being a charismatic lad and such. He also seemed well-versed in farming and this kind of thing; he was so experience some thought he had done this before! Anyways the man got all these colonists rounded up and ordered them around, telling a few to search the land while another few begin to start tilling the soil. They had only a few cattle (as well as the other cattle) to plow with but together they got it done. It wasn’t much but hopefully it got them through the year, maybe not the pirates though... Summary
  13. Colony Name: Marcolo's Brigands Nation of Origin: Italy- I mean uh... Venice! Religion (Catholic, Protestant, or Othordox): Mixed beyond recognition Colony History: Venetians had set their sights upon the new lands for quite some time, as they realized they could not hold their naval monopoly for much longer if they didn't. As such they sent themselves colonists westward, as well as eastward, to take these new lands. Sadly for them those pesky Italians were not fond of being under Venetian rule, and as such flocked to the Americas in search of a "new Italy". Marcolo would be one of them, though a bit different. He not only wanted to reforge their lost nation, but create it in a way that would be better. So with his co-conspirators he committed mutiny a few weeks in. This did not go easy, of course, but Marcolo set it in such a way that the Italians could escape mostly unscathed, and so they did. Now they were headed to a new land to take what is "rightfully theirs", even though some may say otherwise... The Athenian Republic High Mediator: Denys of Athens Council Orator Plato - Philosopher in College of Athens Orator Iranaeus - Mayor of Lamia Orator Judaeus - Leader of Judaeus’ Brigands Orator Ptolemy - Engineer in College of Athens Declaration of War! After much discussion, it has been decided that the Athenian Republic shall formally declare war on the Second Roman Republic, along with the rest of her Greek States. As such we are now beginning a large recruitment campaign in all provinces. Any Athenian able to join the Republic in this war effort is asked to do so. In other news galleys are to be constructed, but they are not for the war effort. Instead these are to go to the new mercenary company that has been formed in the year prior. With these we will be able to be hired anywhere across the Mediterranean, increasing our potential profits ten-fold. 16. The Athenian Republic High Mediator: Denys of Athens Council Orator Plato - Philosopher in College of Athens Orator Iranaeus - Mayor of Lamia Orator Judaeus - Leader of Judaeus’ Brigands Orator Ptolemy - Engineer in College of Athens In need of a better stand-in levy, Denys has assigned the Orator Ptolemy as head in improving the levy’s gear. Denys knew Ptolemy’s experience in blacksmithing and has hopes that by experimenting as well as teaching the state’s blacksmiths he will overall improve the quality of armor that these levies are armed with. Denys, being a smart man, had looked into his Orator’s backgrounds prior to being elected. As such he had found that Judaeus owned a mercenary company. This simple fact gave him the idea: why not have a state-sanctioned mercenary company. Then the money gained off of said company would go directly into the government. With that idea in mind, the Mediator offered the role as leader of this company to Judaeus, because even though Judaeus already owned one company, could he not manage another? Even better, by doing this he gained two salaries; he received income from being Orator and now money flowed in from being the leader of Judaeus’ Brigade. While out on a stroll, the High Mediator felt as if he forgot something… Something important. It took him a little while, but however, while taking in the breath-taking view of Athens from a tall point, he figured it out! He had forgotten that the state had hired architects previously to design a new university, of course! He looked into a bit and then, after assigning his personal secretary to the task, he found that the construction was underfunded! The designs were done but they needed the materials, and materials they shall have! Is what Denys thought. So in light of this issue, Denys has granted more funds to the project. 17. Republic of Athens Tyrannos: Denys of Athens Council Archon Plato Archon Iranaeus Archon Judaeus Archon Ptolemy Inland, that is where the Tyrannos was. He was scouting vineyards, hoping to invest the republic’s funds into a few to help the economy flourish. This part of Athens was beautiful, swaths of green fields covered the landscape and a nicely made house could be seen every now and then. The slaves worked the fields with care, for they knew the punishment if they don’t. Already Denys found himself dozens of promising winemakers eager to have the Tyrannos himself invest in them. I mean who wouldn’t? For the economy was flourishing and it is predicted that it will continue to flourish. Trade within Greece has increased exponentially, and the Tyrannos was now looking to foreign states to make trade deals with. Yes indeed, Denys thought to himself, This shall be a prosperous time in Athen’s history, a prosperous time the Gods have owed us. And so, with his business making wrapped up, he motions for his guards and departs. Off to the great capital once more! Actions While the Tyrannos was sightseeing, his council was busily at work. They had sent two envoys: one to trade with an eastern state, another sent westward to Italy. Not only this but once Denys reached Athens they set about creating the official documents and transferring the money to these vineyards. 18. Republic of Athens Current Leader: Denys of Athens Council Plato Iranaeus Judaeus Ptolemy Denys settled himself in the head council’s seat, looking over to Plato first. On queue, Plato speaks, “It seems as if a war between the Byzantines and Ionians shall soon commence, as word of Byzantium occupation of Ionian lands has been sent.” Denys nods, a bit saddened possibly, “This would make sense, as Byzantium has sent requests of ending hostilities and opening trade, seems as if they do not want another enemy. Speaking of which, how is Macedon?” Iranaeus speaks this time, “Little is known, a few rumors of alliances between Macedon and Iona have been heard though that is all. It is also assumed that Byzantium sent a request for trade and peace to Macedon as well.” “As expected.” Denys huffs, “Well then we shall open trade at the very least. I’d rather not fight an unneeded war, instead we should keep building wealth for when the time of war truly does come.” And so, with the specifics (that you don’t want to listen to) discussed in the council chamber, the meeting was adjourned. Each councillor went to perform the task they were tasked with to perform.
