  1. hello official neviah news: I changed my user to Neviah_

  2. mystics better expect some random spook testing soon....

  3. Why haven't any wars been happening? Is it because of costs? Are alliances too widespread or are diplomats just really good at their jobs?

  4. the last player retention report we had was in 2021. id be curious to see what those stats look like now in 2023, its a shame we no longer get community team stat reports for new players, always looked forward to seeing those

  5. omg people r mad they cant say pvp wait till they find out they cant say the nword

  6. this temp map is so shit can we please get new map implemented this shit should have been ready months ago

  7. veletz lookin' like a survival build huge landscar because no pastes

  8. no ******* way staff is expecting us to build huge keeps and builds in survival right???? they remove pastes and LC plugin isn't ready for "the forseeable future" that is absolutely ridiculous and does not incentivise me to contribute to any vassals/lairs/etc builds because i will spend 10+ hours on a build server with room and infinite resources to make mistakes and undo them in the build, then i will have to spend perhaps double that gathering resources and rebuilding it by hand AGAIN on live with litematica, don't even get me started on terraforming in survival. if this is a continuing occurrence i forsee huge stagnation in terms of scenery on the server

You gather more materials with the current system than how it used to be with sleepy resource pits. Just by clicking. Less effort, less grind. Capitals can still be pasted on request. You're making an issue about something that doesn't even exist.

Feel free however to assist 60th to code paid LC, bet he'll love the help.

The build quality hasn't increased through pastes. It increased through people having more options to build. Build quality has seen improvement since the server started, not only since 2020. also, keep in mind that pastes were very annoying for staff. I had to handle for a long while and they're incredibly likely to cause issues. People are rude about them, cry if you dont get back to them within a day etc. Its always fun and great if its not YOUR job, but the amount of errors despite careful execution is immensly high. People think its sooooo easy to do it, but 90 % of staff doesnt even know how to handle WE properly. Even I who uses it since 10 years fucks up.

Believe me, I was heavily involved in them for the 2 years they existed. They were a temporary system that has finally been removed.

Nothing. And that's fine. Pastes were never meant to be permanent. Ressource gathering is already super easy. Stop trying to remove minecraft entirely from LOTC its really annoying.

If you don't wanna build a castle, don't expect to get one for free. You already have almost infinite resources and fly... It's really not that hard...

I regret disagreeing with @Hiebewhen he said people would get too used to pastes. But alas, they're gone now finally.

It's called minecraft fantasy roleplay. Pastes where only ever forcefully implemented by me on Grools suggestion because Almaris ressource collection was bad.

I once ran into a noob who hit me mechanically and then emoted *bumps into Eredain (my character name). Then, in a second emote it was "Oh I am sorry." then he new player just ran off it was so funny ngl

  13. Don’t call it Netherite. That’s so lore unfriendly! Call it Ibleesium

  14. Random question I just thought of: If you take a load of FTU skins and tape them together in a skin editor, could you call it your skin?

When can nations finally pay off their debt? I'm told they're stuck waiting on a debt plugin. Lemon Hill been waiting for over a month now.

  16. I feel like as time goes on we're starting to see less and less consistent, passive RP in the activity hubs and more and more afk standing or running around in circles - I feel like every time I try to RP with strangers they're either totally afk or there's just no interest at all. I've always experienced the opposite with post-map transitions where RP seems to be at its peak, but with Braevos it still feels like we're at the end of last map when RP momentum was at its lowest. Might be really anecdotal and I could just be not trying hard enough, but has anyone else experienced this?

    1. Laeonathan

      Laeonathan

I did it.. look here - a few examples:
      image.thumb.png.94b98df31f273ab677e01dbdb62cb7f1.png

While it seems to be mentioned more, this was in one large thread were people complained that 2 systems: (nexus / activity) would cause it more. The rest is just people complaining about it from 2014 to now. It's obviously impossible to make a real statistic out of it... but honest? People complaining that RP is boring and stale... that was the case clearly since 2014. There's always less and more fun times, I guess.

One key factor is likely nostalgia: The brain largely remembers the good aspects. The great and fun crp battles, crazy encounters from idk 2016 are something you will never forget. But the fact you might have struggled to find good RP inbetween is something that is far less likely to be remembered.

That things are scheduled more often is something that likely comes with easier ways of communication - aka Discord. A large blessing for me, personally as someone who is european. If I want to get to RP with them and stay up longer I'm not gonna hope for luck to see them. If I'll stay up late I'll not settle on a "maybe" - I will just ask if they're around.

But - something I have been wondering, has it really declined? I know, this is all very subjective, but people afking and just sprinting around is an issue I remember all to well from my first days in 2018 - now of course, how it's been in like 2015... idk!

Now you got me curious and I wanna check if people complained about that in the past too... time for some forum research.

Is that so? I've felt nothing his changed, if it hasn't improved. When I was in Atlas it seemed to me most people didn't wish to interact with me, the might be because my RP was genuinly aweful back then. The longer I've been around the more it became. My most meaningful random interactions have been in Almaris, largely in Celia'nor - something which was COMPLETELY new ground for me. My characters made so many friends through random interactions and one of my characters basically had his entire story based upon that.

In BRAEVOS (+ very late almaris & failor) I had similiar developments: I made an Adunian for the first time and bumped into a lot of random people. All my characters friends were made through completely random encounters, even the family I didn't know oocly beforehand! They just offered me the character and the Barrowton/Númendil community took me in very well rply & oocly, but my most meaningful interactions haven't really been with them (besides a few), but through random encounters.

Of course - in the end both of our personal experiences are just that: Personal experiences - but I've seen people afk (usually they're just tabbed out and if you hit them you get their attention! Violence is a solution for once...) always. In the dwarves in Arcas I have, in Atlas, in Almaris... in Oren...

So yeah idk, I think you just got unlucky...? But I have had times were it was better and worse as well. It's geneuinly hard so say... (I know this long answer basically said nothing in the end.)

  19. halfway done with vaults
    neat useless stats:

-people with a username starting with C are most likely to have something taken from their vaults

    -people with a

username starting with a number are the least likely to have something taken from their vaults

-there were 1225 vaults submitted (which are being reviewed in completely random nonparticular order)

-the most ubiquitous ST material being taken through is Lightstones, which are 30 units ahead of any other individual material

-the least ubiquitous ST material being taken through is Argentum, with only 1 unit so far (even fewer than carb!)

-The most commonly confiscated items are (in no particular order)
    -Alchemy Shears
    -Quietus Crystals
    -Lockpicks/Boltcutters
    -Aidencoin
    -Pre-nerf Tanglefoot potions

-The most common potion being brought over is Arctic Mists which make up 2/3rds of brought-over potions, with close seconds being Fortitude Oil, Blasting Potions, and Hound's Howl

-The most common magic items being brought over are voidal enchantments (Most specifically, a close tie of Air/Water evocation). Mysticism, Bloodmagic, and Paladinism are the leading three behind these two.

-The most common prosthetic is Animii prosthetics by a large margin

-Only 4 errors have been made (and corrected) of 615 vaults reviewed with an error percent of .65

-There has only been 2 illegal nexus/athera items discovered, compared to last map's ~30/40

-An estimated ~2-5% of people who have vaulted items have still not logged in to the new map

-The race with the most cultural/national artefacts stored is Humanity, which scores for more than any other race combined

-Only two RemeronPrime(tm) ST-IOU have been found, only one of which is being redeemed

-A shocking amount of people stored just monk bread and potatoes

-I have seen only 3 or 4 Conjuration Jing in vaults

-I have seen only 2 or 3 items with the Notable Relic tag on them

-Of the 143 accepted MArts, excluding MArt characters or MArt non-items, only 20 MArts have shown up so far. Of these, The Onyx Oculi (133) is the most present with only 6 of 13 Oculi present.

-The oldest MArt present is MArt 4, which has been around since early Atlas!

-The strangest item I have seen is "Fox testicles". Please don't make these items.

-I have seen only one player-signed item which has broken lore (Stating the item is made of Carbarum).

-The average review time for a vault is ~50 seconds. Voidal enchants or errors in items (alch shears, thieves items, etc.) extend this timer to about 90 seconds.

-Only 1 Admin has had their vault reviewed, and less than 10 of any given Staff Team's members.

    -The most commonly brought over items are;

    -Alcohol

-Mass-market shop items (mostly swords, crossbows, and jewelry)

-Sentimental items such as notes, wedding rings, pictures, etc.

-Messages/items signed by friends of other players (friend cookies, friend potatoes, nicely written OOC notes/letters, etc.)

-I have seen no Sorvian/Anthroparion signed-items at all during Vaults

-I have only found one item that mentions the vault is under vault review (it was very nice thank you :) )

-Of all vault messages sent, 99.6% of them are "Happy Roleplaying!". The notable exceptions are when I fuck up the copy paste and send someone a meme I meant to send to someone else. This is a meme I sent to someone by accident. sorry...

    IMG_7413.jpg

I'll post these stats and more once I'm done with vaults. have a great day!

      Lets not gatekeep harder

What attracts good players is "wow look cool fantasy rp server, there's so much to explore within this in game world!" not "wow look at all the history I have to learn just to get allowed into the server!"

If players stick around they will gravitate towards learning the lore because they are interested, not because they are forced. Then they'll retain more and actually use what they read about. Like poor fellow said, all that's really needed is a basic understanding of the systems on the server and the rest can be picked up as it becomes relevant to the new player. Demanding anything else would just strangle the server from getting new players.

this. Gatekeeping is bad. Natural selection happens on the server... I think we should rather make it more easy. People will learn...
