  1. The crumbling, molten remains of Winburgh circa 1966. In the Imperial year 1966 the Grand Covenant intended to make good on The Winburgh Proclamation; to tear down the city after years of brutal conflict, and in its place erect a monument to wars past and present for peace, and for commemoration. But nobody said exactly how it needed to be demolished. It was by invitation that Hohkmat heard that there was to be a razing, and as sure as the sun will rise - you can always count on pyromancers to be present where there is fire to be set. A handful of magi, carefully selected by the Chamber of Fire, were to set out from Hohkmat's gates, and ride to Winburgh. Upon arrival, they would soon find more casters to add to their number. The magi prepared to weave their grand spell as the Covenant set about looting and setting fires of their own... There was but one request, from King Aleksandr II himself - "The Church in the centre must niet be touched." - A fitting end for a city that razed churches; to be itself razed, save for its church. An entire bag's worth of focusing crystals had been ground into a fine dust in the name of this objective, then carefully sown about to create the expansive circle that would act as a conduit for the flow of mana. Atticus, not alone - but with the help of many - was to make manifest a new feat of High Magic... "Magi of Hohkmat, heed me!" Called the acting commander of the Hohkmati rally. "Today we bring ruin upon this pitiful, blighted city. From nothing it was raised, and to nothing it shall damn well return." "Atticus! Save for the church... Burn it all to the ground." A self-satisfied grin twisted onto her face. Sarah had been here before, as had many of her fellow Hohkmati, when they were forcefully taken from the streets and their homes; rounded up like animals by a horde of Veletzians, Urukhai, and Ferrymen. That memory, along with the city, was soon to be cleansed by purifying fire. Vengeance comes hot, but it burns slow. She had waited a long, long time for this. Masters, adepts, journeymen and spellblades alike knelt to place their hands against the ritual circle, seeking to grant unto Atticus the power to turn even the very stone itself to ash. Power beyond what any mortal could truly hold alone surged into him from the collective effort of all in attendance, elevating his capacity into the perceivably divine; for how else could you describe the power to level cities? It swelled into existence as a great torrent of flame. Embers floated on the wind, the skies themselves cracked and the air was tainted with the unmistakable sting of ash. Lungs surely burned with each laboured breath of the rapidly exhausting sorcerers. Blazing colour burned into the air until at last the spell reached its peak, giving birth to an indescribable cascade of blue fire that reached into impossible sixth tier - perhaps the seventh tier - of magic. On this day, those in attendance bore witness to Reinhold's Burning Pyre.
  2. No respite from the Struggle A sickly, tiring woman sat sequestered in an attic. Often the space was ablaze with lantern light and brimming with letters of correspondence. This eve, it was dim. The papers so neatly stacked in their cabinets were left strewn on the floorboards; scattered in a nonsensical array and stitched back together at the seams. The Farfolk's face was enshrouded like the rest of the room, graced only by the flicker of a single flaming candle she had happened to forget up there amongst her chests of trinkets and memorabilia. Useless clutter, really, which served no purpose. Just the same as the blank pages full of words she sought to puzzle into a pleasing shape. Like ritual they were rearranged. Over and over and over. But always a piece was left out; unfit; inconsolable. Irreconcilable. Starkly pallid green eyes strained against the waning flame to see something, anything, in spite of the shadows that encroached closer. Once rich and deeply verdant, the pair responsible for vision failed to muster any color from the page. There was never enough time to make sense of it all. However much could be found was already being lost; any that was created was always being destroyed. Stolen, taken, lost, destroyed. Stolen, taken, lost, destroyed. Understanding became impossible. Where was it coming from? How could one possibly recapture all the time constantly slipping through their fingers. How could anyone find the full picture again. How do I get it back? Weakness Consumes. Strength Creates. Content fades to nothing. Ambition seizes all.Limits.Define.Infinite.Potential. Isabella's breath hitched as she was thrust back into the world like a fleck of the Heaven's spat out spit. Her limbs trembled; her body overcome with a cold sweat yet again. The candle had long since burned out. She struggled to her feet and traced her fingers against the wall, wading blindly through the trail she set for herself. Running her palm over the cabinets, Isabella guided her frail form out of the attic. Ultimately, she found her way back to the light of day, but not after receiving the same answer from a different question. The same question that begets every answer.
  3. A CALL TO SERVICE! It has become apparent in the lands of Hohkmat and all throughout Aevos that the forces of Iblees have become more bold and invasive by the day. Their agents now openly raid our cities, infiltrate our communities, pillage our travelers, and defile our sacred places. We must NOT stand for this any longer! We cannot foolishly enact the same strategy that has been failing us over and over and expect to have different results. We must go on the offensive. We must be proactive in our approach so that our loved ones may sleep softly at night knowing that such beasts will no longer have the strength to fight us in open combat. I call upon any citizen of Hohkmat or in the surrounding regions to heed Xan’s call to service in this time of crisis and strike down the wicked foe that seeks to envelop us all! We will make them COWER in the shadows once again! We will make them flee from the Sun’s cleansing Light! Best Regards, Elena of Joma, Paladin of the Morninglord and Resident of Hohkmat.
  4. Kaethul #2: Peace and Coin The Commerce City State of Kaethul accepts the minas provided by Haelun'or as reparations for the unfortunate events that occurred an Elven week ago where an individual was struck with uncontrollable flashbacks and attacked both a citizen of Kaethul and a foreign member of Amathine (who have negotiated their own reparations with Haelun'or on behalf of their citizen). I, Yera Silveira, Overlord of the Commerce City of Kaethul hereby pledge one hundred Minas to the affected Lady Aveline within my care who received injury from this event, and four hundred Minas to be divided amongst the key contributors of Kaethul, in addition to half the taxes of our nation. (Percentage of tax pool taken depends on weekly contribution/influence)
  5. Klan Vukh Joins the Horde History of the Vukh Vinteki Exodus During the exodus from Vinteki, Gundanat decided to go his own way, clanless and alone, exploring the desert for his inspiration. While Apex and Klog joined different clans, Gundanat sat alone on the mountain top, imagining a clan, strong in its ideals of uniting all races, while still respecting their own orc laws and traditions, imagining a clan which incorporates humans, elves, orcs and even dwarves into one singular clan. “Why hasn’t anyone else tried this before” as he stood up towards the exit, ideas flowing in his head Formation of the Clan Gundanat went to work within the cave he was settled in, writing down laws, ideas and the trial itself, saddling the horse and travelling to Gorom to discuss these new ideas, having lessons on races, trial by combat between races, tournaments for honour and proper organisation in the clan. The two conserves all night, taking drinks at the bar while drunkenly discussing their ideas, both agreeing to create the clan The Basics of Clan Vukh The clan was created by Gundanat, a former member of Vinteki and a loyalist to the Rex, Grommash. Once taking the Oath of Loyalty you are unable to leave unless you get special permissions from the leader or clan or be treated as a traitor and hunted down for such. The Vukhs owe their loyalty towards the nation, the Rex, and any Orc who needs help in a task which will benefit the nation The Vukh people emerged from the Vinteki clan, which was a combination of captured prisoners and native orcs who lived under Kazin'Kul. All clan members will be used to society's lawless demands due to being created in a time of war and conflict. There are little to no present shamans within the clan which isn't a concern for the Wargoth. Hierarchy of Clan Vukh Wargoth Waghgoth (War leader – Duellable position) Soldier Clan Member Initiate Clan Vukh Initiation Trials Trial 1 - Take an honour battle (Hur’Mauk) with someone of another culture or one of your own, battle to the first one to go down to the floor. (CRP). Both players must fight fairly and without any cheap tactics. Trial 2 – Take a lesson about Orc culture with a Mau’Kor (Historian) or a Brudda (Orc) who is willing to, or if you are an orc, a lesson about another culture. Trial 3 – Take the Oath of Loyalty within the clan hall, swearing to the banner and Rex. Values of the Vukhim I. Accepts all races as one own. II. Take pride in defending the nation. III. Die for the banner of the clan and the nation. IV. Respect other clans Rituals and if needed, take part. Clan Uniform First Blow of Vukhim Gundanat and Gorom travelled to Hohkmat in the cover of the night, taking a hidden entrance into the city as they made way into the Chamber of Water, silently opening the door, looking around somewhat disappointed. A small chuckle came from Gundanat as he went on to speak “This place is so small for containing something so big… I’m surprised they didn’t make it less obvious or have more security” Gundanat muttered to his partner in crime. “Stuzid Pinkies” Gorom responded, simple but effective in describing the failure of the town. The elevator creaked, letting out an echoing and daunting sound into the streets as they made their way to the top, seeing the Mana Obelisk, towering over them. 20 meters long. “Zaahkah Zkah!” They both exclaimed at the same time, seeing the Obelisk, but both began to slash away at it, hitting it repeatedly until it exploded. Sending bits all over the floor as they left a sign. “Leave the war while you still can” Both nodded towards each other as they went back down, leaving the room in total chaos and disarray, exiting through the main gate to the disbelief of both. “Som nevur lurn do they’z?” Gundant mentioned, saddling onto the horses as they rode into the darkness.
  6. . . . "The Bridge probably deserved it."
  7. Source [!] A sudden burst of energy shoots from below Hohkmat, funneling through every crack and crevice, sneaking over the walls and slithering through the gates. Across the lands upon closer inspection came a horde of letters, peeling off into all manner of direction, darkening the sky as they frantically reached for their recipients. “It is with a heavy heart that I renounce my position as Magister of Hohkmat on this day. Circumstances not of my own choosing pull me from this realm. I am called to a higher purpose, that which you all know well. The Voids call tearing my consciousness from this reality. I have meditated on these callings for centuries, but never have they been this strong, unwavering and relentless in my mind. I have not been able to serve you as the Void intended, and for that I am sorry. Upon each day I smile as I see the accomplishments of our people, I can only hope Hohkmat lives on for many centuries to come as the first of an Empire of the Void. I must admit to you all, it is with shame that I am not able to stand with you all in this coming victory, but I ask you all to cast free the doubt from your mind, let wild the void within your grasp and let it flow through you as it was meant to be. With the Void as your tool, no path can go unpaved.” Woe be the voidless when I am done here Source
  8. - THE CHAMBER OF FIRE - The Chamber of Fire has elected to publish its charter, so that the people of Hohkmat may understand what we do and who we are. Our Responsibilities The Chamber of Fire draws its responsibilities from the ‘Three Mysteries’ - it is meant to preserve sorcerous power, protect the magical state, and protect the Grand Magister. Two explicit mandates are given by the Grand Magister in execution of these duties. Our first mandate is the Defense of the City-States of Hohkmat and its Magi. We achieve this by: ° Training inductees in martial, alchemical, and magical combat. ° Equipping inductees with martial, alchemical, and magical weapons, armor, and tools. ° Recruiting and maintaining constructs such as golems, atronachs, sorvians and automatons. ° Contracting mercenaries if necessary to bolster the city’s forces. ° Serving as Liaison to foreign military forces. Our second mandate is to inflict indescribable violence apply combative force in service of the Grand Magister, both at home and abroad. We achieve this by: ° Serving as the Grand Magister’s personal guard. ° Defending the city against violent attack. ° Organizing expeditions to inflict indescribable violence apply force where and when the Grand Magister desires; typically against the undead, the demonic, and the rogue magi. ° As per the Merzhin-Garmont Traité, “[providing] strategic and tactical mages to support [The Commonwealth of the Petra] in times of war.” ° Defending against internal threats to the stability of Hohkmat. Our Philosophy As is built into the culture of Hohkmat, powerful magi should be independent. To that end, we eschew traditional facets of a military such as a uniform, formations, salutes, gate duty, or a complex rank hierarchy. We will not waste our magi’s time, and we will not keep qualified recruits from advancing because they’re new to the Chamber. When it comes to our magi, our sole concern is forging them into a formidable, highly-equipped fighting force. They should wear what they like, when they like, and do what they like, so long as they can be called back to use their skills to defend the city and its interests when necessary. Whether a Chamber of Fire magus is acting in service of Hohkmat, or acting to achieve their own goals on their own time, they will fight harder, smarter, and more effectively than their non-Seared peers. Let others study the Void, broker alliances, or engage in commerce. Above all else, a Chamber of Fire magus knows how to wage war. Our Organization The Vizier The Vizier is the leader of the Chamber of Fire, selected by the Grand Magister. Of all the Viziers within Hohkmat, he is the most lethal - one of the few capable of standing toe to toe with a Lord or Lady Magister. He is responsible for reporting to the Grand Magister, negotiating with the Hohkmati government, organizing expeditions, running the Immolation, delegating duties as he sees fit, and above all, seeing that the responsibilities of the Chamber are carried out. The Seared The Seared are full members of the Chamber of Fire who have undergone the Immolation and bear the Striker. They have received the best training and equipment the Chamber can provide. They have few day-to-day duties beyond training inductees and inflicting indescribable violence applying their skills when directed to by the Vizier or the Grand Magister. The Kindling The Kindling are the inductees of the Chamber of Fire. They are trained by the Seared and the Vizier in martial, alchemical and magical combat and equipped with martial, alchemical, and magical weapons, armor, and tools. They also assist the Seared when they mete out indescribable violence act in service of Hohkmat. The Pyroclasts The Pyroclasts are the constructs that serve the Chamber of Fire. Their duties mirror those of the Seared, but they do not undergo the Immolation, nor do they bear the Striker. They may, however, go through the process to become Seared if they are loyal, skilled, and sapient. Pyroclasts have a special duty to carry on the traditions of the chamber, often living much longer than most of its members. The Immolation The Immolation is the ritual by which the Kindling becomes the Seared. The Striker The Striker is the identifying mark of the Seared. Those who carry it are full-fledged members of the Chamber of Fire. It is a red signet ring bearing this symbol: Recruitment There will be no uniforms, no formations, no saluting, and no gate duty. We won’t waste your time. If you want the best magical combat training and the best equipment, and are willing to loyally follow the mandates of the Chamber, join us. You may send a letter to the current Vizier, Ayche ((Xydraus)) or his secretary Faeryel ((Faeryel)). You may also go to the Chamber of Fire, located within the Ziggurat of Hohkmat ((1566 112 -3)) to express an interest to join in person. Previous combat or magical experience is not necessary - just a sharp mind and the desire to serve. You will learn combative magic as part of your training. (Drafted on 3rd of Snow’s Maiden, 1951 by Faeryel Artenin)
  9. <An internal message announced within the City State of Hohkmat> I Yera Silveira hereby make known my intention to stake claim and create a fourth magister seat within the City State of Hohkmat, as indicated to the Grand Magister and Vizier of Wind, under judgement of the current residing Magisters. For those that do not yet know me, I have served upon the Council of the continents Elven motherland, founded and serve as chairman of the Silver Merchant Sovereignty that continues to bring in new merchants to its thirty plus stalls and vendors, redesigned the Districts of Eternal Struggle and Great Paradox, and created the Hidden Tower. My Promise With my assets thus far, I have provided housing and support to the mages that have aligned themselves with myself and the Hidden Tower. Going forwards, I shall create a system for beginning and intermediate magi to grow their own powerbase and knowledge in tandem (enhanced) with their studies at the Academy. Resources and items at a standardised and fair price that won't be affected by the machinations of foreign kingdoms (as indicated by a dataspread that now includes hundreds of entries from all over the continent). New housing available to members of the public willing to abide by non-violence with those of this magisterial position, and guidance. My current contracts maintain withstanding and are not affected by this pledge. Final Word I am young, and have conjured everything I have over a matter of years, as opposed to centuries, and shall continue to move forwards as quickly as I can. The Magi of Hohkmat should become powerful. Not just in strength, but in soul, ambition, wisdom, intelligence, charisma and love. It is a form of greed, but with lines set, honour kept, and untempted will, it is a greed we need. Not to become unruly, to scrabble for every mina, every artifact and every opportunity- but to become powerful and strive for a greater future without losing ones self and ones morals. To want the best of both worlds, the perfect outcome. Thus embodies... Seat of the Great Paradox Seat of the Eternal Struggle Seat of the Sorcerous Path ... The Seat of Boundless Greed
  10. [!] Letters are dispatched via bird in mass to all within Hohkmat How primitive it is to scar a follower of the void to decipher superiority We are above such barbarism. The one whose mind speaks with the wisdom of the people should lead them Where do we find ourselves if we allow our system to favor warmongers and thugs? We get uncultured swine, the likes of which the void should never be trusted with. What we want is a just unification of the Void's people, a one mind that serves to better itself as an entity for the good of the void and its people, rather than this short sighted bickering the likes of which we should only expect from animals. We can be better than this, we are better than this. I ask of you the people, would do you not embrace the Void wholeheartedly? Do you not believe it is the key to our salvation? Were we to put our faith in the Void, trusting those beside us to stand with us against the dark. Then would we truly know greatness, then would we truly know prosperity. I ask that you do not allow yourself to be misled by the bickering of lessers Do not allow the darkness within you Stand united against this barbarism Favor the book before the sword It is together we can form an unbreakable brotherhood It is only together that we might glimpse at greatness. Excellence without Compromise Lord Magister and Servant to the People [!] Sometime later a group gathers to discuss as word travels (Feel free to react and comment below as well as consider this letter common knowledge)
  11. People of Aevos, farmers and philosophers alike, I come before you as a humble servant, with the void as my tool. I write this message today in hopes that it finds you well, in order to ask for your patience. I am a very busy man and I have been for many centuries now, but it is my dedication and commitment to my craft and people that continue to beckon me forth to havens of knowledge such as Hohkmat, despite my lack of presence in many cases. It is my intention to nurture a small sect of our reality within my own district, to that of a beacon of light for all who would wish their reality malleable. . . To all that would wish to sculpt the realm in their image. A place where creativity seeps from the very walls of the establishment, the inspiration so real it bursts forth into reality in the form of magical flora and fauna. This is the reality I wish to procure within my district, but it is not possible without your assistance. No matter the strength of any singular mage, it is unity that creates true greatness, standing side by side with someone like minded and trusting, knowing if the worst were to occur, they would be by your side standing with you against the dark. This is the strength I require from you all, this is the environment I wish to nurture. . . But I can only do it with your help. Assist me in ushering in this age of greatness with the void as our tool and your names shall be written in the history books, immortalized forever as those who walked the path uncharted, leading the way for future generations to flourish, enriched by our accomplishments. Allow me time and I shall give you greatness Lord Magister of Hohkmat and Eternal Servant to the Realm
  12. The Murder of a mage On what seemed like a rather ordinary night, the elven woman went about her errands in the enchanting realms of Aevos. She was an esteemed guest of the Hohkmati Enclave, a formidable mage, and her fatigue was clearly evident. An air of mystery enveloped her, as if some enigmatic burden weighed on her, beyond mortal understanding. Yet, her determination remained unwavering. Physical tasks appeared to drain her, often compelling her to harness her magical prowess to ease the strain on her body. Her magical abilities granted her respite from the demanding chores. On this particular occasion, she had returned to her homeland, the lands of Haelun’or, to engage in a discussion with the new Maheral, who had taken over following the resignation of the Miravaris. However, the streets of Haelun’or remained eerily vacant, the city's white marble façade contrasting with its lack of inhabitants. The high elves were deeply immersed in their studies and work. The elven woman sought out a skilled seamstress, an old friend, to ask for a favor. She was aware of a grand jubilee hosted by the Petran Queen, Renilde I, an acquaintance she had grown quite fond of, despite being human. The seamstress crafted a magnificent gown for her — a pitch-black dress that seemed to absorb all the light around it. Golden embellishments adorned its seams, and a matching golden belt cinched her waist. The dress was modest, covering her from neck to toe, leaving no trace of exposed skin; even her hands were concealed. The time came for her journey to the Commonwealth, initially by horseback. Yet, the physical demands proved overwhelming for the mage. With humility and respect, she decided to open a portal to simplify her passage to the realm of the Petran ruler. With a snap of her fingers, a shimmering white disc formed, and she gracefully walked through it, emerging near the entrance to the jubilee. The jubilee was enjoyable, though it didn't quite meet the standards of this high elven aristocrat, who could be rather snobbish. She greeted friends, savored a slice of cake, engaged in conversations, and even treated the children at the jubilee to a magical spectacle. As all good things do, this too came to an end, prompting her to make her departure for some much-needed rest. However, her exit didn't unfold as smoothly as expected. The exit was congested, with humans loitering and blocking her way. Her polite requests for them to move were met with hostility and disdain. Determined to avoid any violence, the adept mage resorted to her magical abilities. Ethereal white mists enveloped a troublesome lady, gently guiding her aside to create a path for the elf. Yet, it took only moments for violence to erupt. A human bishop, consumed by rage and seemingly beyond reason, seized the fragile elf by the throat and began to squeeze. Witnesses were convinced that something had taken hold of the bishop, for his actions were anything but holy. The elven mage, weakened by her connection to the Void, could only stand helplessly against the overpowering human. Eventually, the bishop's strength waned, for it was not typical for the elderly to resort to murder. He released the elf, who had already lost consciousness. Petran Court physicians would then rush to the scene to transport the elf to a clinic for examination. They discovered that the bishop had caused severe damage to the elf's trachea, and emergency surgery was imperative to restore her oxygen supply. The valiant medics, ever respectful, began preparing the frail elf for surgery in an attempt to save her life. Unfortunately, it was already too late. Her eyes grew dim, pupils dilated, and her body relaxed. The mission of the bishop had tragically succeeded. However, the elfess seemed at peace, her expression serene as if she had been smiling just before her life ebbed away. Perhaps if she had not been alone, she might have survived, but none had dared to confront the bishop, a formidable figure within the Canonist church.
  13. …As the sun crested over the Petrine valley, casting its warm glow upon the scene, the sounds of bustling activity reverberated through the air. Two prominent Elfesses stood distinctly amidst the others. One, a refined and elegant statured Mali'aheral discussed with the other, a strict and ebon garbed Mali'ker. The contents of a supply docket seemed to be the primary focus, while they regularly provided instruction to the laborers. As the sounds of busy workers and the rhythmic clatter of construction filled the air, Hohkmat steadily transformed before their eyes. Structures took form, and the vision of a thriving magocracy began to emerge. Amidst this vibrant scene, Saelyth and Rhae'lin discussed the logistics and future plans, their collaboration instrumental in shaping the destiny of Hohkmat.
