The Oath of ‘A Man of His King’

The oath of fealty is bound by an esteemed clergyman’s presence, a holy relic in his grasp. When recited, the subordinate’s hands are firmly clasped within those of the king’s. The oathtaker kneeling, and becoming ‘a man of his king’, and thus an affirmed noble of Oren.

and carry out his bidding with dignity and grace,

bestowing my life and that of my kin’s to his cause,

Punishable Offenses

• Counterfeiting coinage or falsifying a signature

• Unprovoked raids or skirmishes against an allied holding or force

• Harboring or safeguarding of a national enemy

• Betraying the realm to an enemy

• Plotting against the royal family line

• Practicing of heresy

 

Trial

The accused person is brought before the esteemed privy council, the trial organized and led by the privy seal. The king also attends, granted the customary regard and reverence. Evidence is conscientiously examined, and a fair verdict is painstakingly granted after an amount of deliberation along with pertinent and lawful retribution. Various penalties ensue, such as seizing of lands, house arrest, imprisonment, execution, and so on.
