  3. You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.” ((How do you respond?)) “Oh- Okay,” the young Wood Elf says and sits on the cushion with a soft little breath. She sits and ponders for a moment, trying to think of where to begin. “I suppose I should start by saying that I was born more towards the south and grew up on a small little farm in the woods. Hunting, raising crops, praying and connecting to the land around us. It’s also where my mother thought me to use a bow,” Valeriya says. “Though recently I wanted to branch out. Seek out more of a community to share, live, and grow my faith with,” she pauses to take in a small breath of air, “besides my parents. Whom I still adore very much but being the only three people within a certain range of other Wood Elves stared to feel.. secluding.” She waits for the hag to listen and process before saying anything. “So, um. Yeah! That’s my story.. or at least the summary of it.”
  4. Coastal Tiva Coastal Tiva is a derivative from the mali’ame tradition of ‘The Language of Tiva’, a collection of floral symbolism used in worship, self-identification, and physical guidance. Although Coastal Tiva subscribes itself to the same three pillars of Aspectism, guidance, and identity as its predecessor, practitioners utilize the natural elements found along coastlines and shallow waters rather than woodland flora; furthermore, Illivirans, credited to have first introduced the coastal variant, have chosen to recognize the Duarchy as well as the Aspects. ___________________________________________ 🐚 ___________________________________________ Art by Siua Faith Honoring the Aspects is deeply rooted in Mali'ame culture and this custom finds resonance within Coastal Tiva, where the traditions devoted to the Aspects are observed with the same reverence as they have been for generations. While their customs may vary, Illivirans, too, hold a deep appreciation for the Aspects – at the same time, they embody the symbolic significances of the Duarchy, which forms an integral part of their cultural identity and collective consciousness. As such, they have distinct and different Tiva for The Mother, The Father, Thalassa, and Faunus. Cernunnos Shark Teeth Shark teeth symbolize power, resilience, and precision. They represent a strong and determined personality, capable of facing challenges head-on with fearless aggression and unwavering focus. Shark teeth may also signify protection and the primal instincts necessary for survival, embodying the raw and ancient wisdom of The Horned God’s enduring forces. Cerridwen Sand Dollar The sand dollar symbolizes tranquility, spirituality, and inner reflection. It represents a calm and peaceful personality, attuned to the interconnectedness of all living beings. Sand dollars may also signify renewal and the cyclical nature of life, embodying a sense of mindfulness and the serene beauty found in The Green Lady’s spiritual contemplation. The Third Unknown Whispers of The Third may be heard blowing off the cool night air, but only the truly dedicated might hope translate these messages into the physical language written here. Thalassa Mother-of-Pearl Mother-of-pearl, the iridescent inner layer of certain mollusk shells, is often linked to femininity and power. Through their luminous qualities they represent the nurturing and protective qualities of the divine feminine, as well as the mysteries of the ocean. Faunus Driftwood Driftwood, weathered pieces of wood washed ashore by the tides and waves, represent the cyclical nature of life and the connection to both the land and the sea. Mirroring Thalassa’s Pearl, driftwood also represents the protectiveness and stability of the divine masculine. ___________________________________________ 🦀 ___________________________________________ Art by Siua Guidance The Language of Tiva was first created with the intention of guiding elvenkind along their journeys: flowers intertwined together symbolize directions and signs within the woods that only those straying mali might interpret. Similarly, anchored rings of floating driftwood give the base to shells, flora, and other elements which report the paths ahead of any sailor who knows the language: pearls and sand dollars nestled into a piece of driftwood tells of a nearby place of worship for the Duarchy, where the binding of oyster and conch shells details a concealed area in need of further exploration. ⠀𓂃⠀⠀˖⠀𓇼⠀˖⠀⠀𓂃⠀ Clam Shell Safe Places The clamshell symbolizes protection, stability, and practicality. They represent a nurturing and supportive presence, as well as a down-to-earth approach to life. They may also signify resilience and the importance of finding security in one's environment. Sea Kelp Dangerous or Unwelcome Places Kelp may be used to symbolize invasive tendencies, suffocating environments, and the overwhelming force of unchecked growth. While essential to marine ecosystems, kelp exhibits negative traits when it overgrows and dominates underwater habitats that lead to imbalances in the marine ecosystem. Oyster Shell Hidden Places The oyster shell symbolizes wisdom, adaptation, and hidden truths. They represent insight gained through experience and introspection, things which may be shrouded to the naked eye, and the power of change through adversity and pressure. ___________________________________________ 🦪 ___________________________________________ Art by Siua Identity Through the traditional use of inder’tayna, it is important for one to be able to assign personal characteristics of oneself or another to represent them on their cord. 12. To Queen Tar-Caraneth Aryantë of Numendil, This is the letter detailing the planning of the Stone Chapel that you requested. The Stone Chapel must be a humble building; thus, I do not intend for it to be overtly grand, perhaps eleven metres by seven - maybe more, though if so, not much more. Below are the key facts about it that must be true: It must be made entirely out of stone, down to even the pews and the altar, It must have no windows, though still have the space for them, And it must be an Owynist Temple. Beyond those three requirements, I expect it to be a relatively plain building - with the goal of humility, that is half the point. I intend to build it somewhere near the apple trees, though I will show you in person the exact location. At some point, too, I will begin, in tangention with other pious individuals, a project of journeying deep into the centre of the world from the Stone Chapel, though how this will come about is unclear - only that it will happen. I have no other plans for formation of the building other than the above. No doubt others will propose ideas - I will consult you prior to implementation if they are major. In any case, you now know my plans, as you asked. Please do tell me if you take objection to anything. - Serwa

  14. To the Voidal-Lich Az'Rekash, What you speak of - the pure nature of strength - is something that I have previously considered. I am old, likely older than you, and I have seen that those who become strong beyond the norm of Descendant-kind or Darkspawn always, eventually, die. I cannot, in my long life, think of a single Descendant that has managed to escape mortality via strength - everyone who grows strong and begins to threaten the lives of others to an overt degree is snuffed out. I may be wrong - I have forgotten much. Forgetfulness is an unfortunate fact of age. And I suppose that in order to achieve this lofty aim, one must break precedents and do what others have not yet, but strength invites challenge, and challenge invites death, and death is what I look to avoid. I would like to speak to you further. I do not think I will take your approach; what you say about hobbies does interest me, but I suppose that that is a discussion that should be held in person. I will work out some way of speaking to you without being at risk of death, and send you a letter. - Aramor

  18. "I had been enamored by the same question., once." spoke a creature. "Perhaps a bit too obsessed. Oh, but I was rather healthy back then, all things considered. . ." He ruminated as he considered what he had read. Before him laid a pyre; a traveling family, their corpses and belongings burning. He had had no reason to kill them. . . . After a while he drafted a reply, a horrible crow carrying the message out of the walls of Hexicanum. "I have undertaken this journey. The answer does not lie at the end of mortal undertaking; I exhausted that. You will perhaps forsake your soul in one way or another and get no closer to your goal. Strength is verily the truest thing in the world. It cannot be corrupted, deceived, or denied. I had endeavored to bend many to my will, use their magics to harness a weapon. First a gargantuan Voidal Tear, and then a lance which portrayed unfathomable energy into the heavens. If there were none who I could not slay, and none who could slay me, I would have achieved my goal. That was a beginning - yes, a beginning, reached at the end of the journey you have begun. Anyways, I failed along that way, and now I am subjugated to an inferior form. I populate my days by slaughtering things weaker than me. It is actually pretty fun. Thusly I have learned that hobbies can be preferable to futile struggle. Let my hint to you be that the path towards undeniable power lies in the subjugation of others, and the use of their own power." -THE VOIDAL-LICH AZ'REKASH
