Hello, I was wondering what it would take to make a small town/settlement. Would I need to buy land from a king? Would I just build one in the non-protected area near the cloud temple? What would need to be done.

Thanks for your time.

You need the mental will to go through with your town and not just create another ghost town which will sit until 4.0

-Gather atleast five people together who wish to join you.

-Get the supplies

-Make sure it holds something unique, a trade town etc..

-Don't just give up after a week or a month and walk away from it, or i'll hunt you down and gut you >.<

Please just join an existing town. We have too many empty towns as is. >.>

Yeah, basically what THUNDER37 said..There have been a lot of ghost towns sprung up. RP is spread quite thin as it is, if you're going to establish a new town or settlement make 100% sure that there's going to be regular RP in the area to draw people in.

I think the main thing would be......

ACTIVE MEMBERS!

Be sure to have min. 5 active players in your settlement.

Get active members, a good building style, and a roadside shop/restaurant/tavern to bring commerce to your town.

If you really want to make a town, make sure you contact anyone on the land perms or make sure no one else owns that land rply. Spent most of my morning yesterday explaining that to some people  :determined:

All the "Don't make towns" or "We have enough empty ones!"

See this isn't cool, man!  :crys:

Encourage people to make towns, even make entire empires! In LOTC you have the power to become a king, become an emperor, but only if you work hard on it!

It's generally better to join an existing town and work your way up rather than build a new one. Unaffliated towns are easy pickings for monsters and bandits, and they have a hard time keeping their players. Towns need high populations to survive, if they don't have that they die and eventually the rock lice get them.

If you do choose to make a town, you need something to draw players to it, otherwise they will go to nation-protected, highly populated regioned cities such as Abresi.
