The Dunham Chronicles

(As documented and preserved by the Dunham Family through the generations.)

Classical History

In the far reaches of Northern Anthos, bordered by thick, endless forests and tundras, a small group consisting of scattered, affable independent clans made their home in the north-most portion of the harsh, barren wilds. As their community grew steadily through, one such clan began to take charge as the leaders of these people. This small, but hardy family, led by Aedric o’Dunham, began to demonstrate their authority over their correlated and neighboring clans through their fiery pride and strong war sense. Aedric, possessing a natural, pariah-like charisma, was able to unite his people’s clans under the Dunham family, and swiftly took action to claim land for the upstart ‘Bristiric Tribe’.

The Dunhams proved to be fearless leaders on the battlefields, for they exposed their true strategic power and courageous battlefront demeanor before hostile tribes that surrounded them. Under the guidance of Clan Dunham, the Bristmen rallied themselves into a large, powerful fighting force, striking with one successful skirmish, raid, and siege after another. At the hands of the elders of Clan Dunham, they began to amalgamate their enemies into their own culture, as they engulfed more and more land for the tribe. With these acts, the Dunham Dynasty established themselves as the ‘Chief Clan’ of their tribe.

With the successful invasion and assimilation of those who opposed them, Clan Dunham and their people began to form the early Bristiric culture. With the goal of a masterful race that would one day control all of the lands encompassing the wilds, the elders of Clan Dunham announced themselves as the rulers of the snow-swept wilds and developed a hardy superiority for their people.

As expansion continued rapidly, cordial diplomacy ensued with the glorious empire of man, gingerly directed by the Dunhams. In order to ensure the preserved Bristiric prosperity and welfare, the stalwart tribal warriors hailing from the north, swore themselves as autonomous vassals to Oren.

Contemporary and gaudy customs were introduced and suffused into the traditions of the Bristmen. With the empire’s guidance, the tribesmen fully civilized and refined the unrelenting lands of the north, proposing and executing a set of rules, such as the famous ‘Law of the Innocents’, scribed by the hands of the canny ‘Alpin Dunham’.

Now, at the peak of their power, the Brists begot the entirety of the northern wildlings, and the Dunhams extended their borders through peaceful, tactful negotiation and crushing victory in battle. They had effectively become the sole power of the north, superior and preeminent.

Modern History

With the fall of Asulon, and the immigration to the isles, pursued by the promised land, Anthos, the Bristiric people detached from one another. Most settled within the northern reaches of the continent, and followed their cultural practices conscientiously among their families. The Dunham Family was granted a spacious estate in Abresian soil, enlisting as combatants, hunting within encompassing pine forests, and exercising their customs.

The head of the family, William, was especially successful in his militaristic endeavours. By the age of 16, he had already left home to conscript into the local bannerman force, where he trained avidly and became quite skilled in swordsmanship. After a series of skirmishes and battles, William had quickly become accustomed to the usual trauma and pain a warrior faces during times of war.

He soon was promoted for his steadfastness and courage and became well-liked by his superiors. Soon, he was entrusted a squad to lead on his own accord. And it was because of this, that William discovered his natural ability to lead and bond with those under him. After conducting a number of bountiful raids and engagements, William soon was given ultimate authority of approximately 3 squads, and was tasked with the mission to aid the Crown-Prince Ostromir in suppressing the Teutonic rebels. William then set out to report to the Crown-Prince in Abresi.

By dawn, the army of men marched to siege the rebels’ fort. Having arrived, William led an effective assault that cost the enemy a large amount of casualties. A few more assaults followed and the siege was soon over, the Crown-Prince victorious. Clearly impressed with William and his abilities, Ostromir granted unto him a fief after grasping the “Throne of Dragons” from Silus Horen. This ennobled William and his family and soon, he began his own force, representing his own dynasty.
