Put The "unofficial Rules" Into The Rules

 Share

Recommended Posts

This is a very simple idea. Any "unofficial" rule must be put into the displayed server rules. If it is not in the server rules, it is not valid. 30-min soulstone from prison, cannot brand criminals without OOC consent, these are rules that are enforced by the GM team in whole or in part but not on the server rules. This makes the server something of a minefield, rules are enforced that do not exist.

Likewise, all rule updates that are officially posted should be added to the rule list ASAP.

From what I've been told, neither of these are actually valid rules. Nonetheless, unwritten rules really shouldn't be considered rules.

This really shouldn't even need an idea thread to get done...

There are other things I'm sure, I just don't know any off the top of my head.

They're still enforced.

Agreed, if I were a new player I would be very confused with all these unwritten rules. Imagine just joining, you read a lot of lore, and all the written rules, then people are reporting you for some rule you have never head of.

I was once told by a GM that GMs can enforce anything they think is right without having it be in the server rules at all.

What about auto armoring rule?

What about 'Not able to fight in rp, not able to pvp'?

What about when what can happen in MC mechanics can't happen in RP (like swiming in armor)?

That is a very ironic yet true statement.

And where is the rule that GMs can enforce any rule they want? We really need to write these things down.

What about the rule about rules having to be rules to be considered rules.

But seriously, all unwritten rules should . . .

Well be written down, sooner rather than later.

Because it gets quite annoying when I explain to someone what they are doing wrong and their instant reaction is;

"I don't see it in the rules!?!?" or "Can you point it out in the rules!?!?"

As if I am some sort of demonic person who gets a thrill out of getting people in trouble.
