The Sons of Arminius

The city of Koblenz rested quietly along the flowing banks of the junction between the Rhine and Moselle Rivers, a soft electric glow emitting from the town as the citizens fall asleep. Koblenz was the capital of the Rhineland Republic, a relatively peaceful faction whose leader had attended Arminius's ball. The Rhineland Republic stretched through most of the Rhineland, bordering the cities of Frankfurt and Cologne. The Rhineland is known for its vast wealth in both wines and gemstones, as well as strategic resources such as glass and leather. It was once known as the home for large pharmaceutical corporations in Germany and as a result the Republic has a key strategic resource, a medicine manufactory.

As the moon begins to rise, roughly 2,000 men of the First Legion swarm the city, their SA-3 Rifles able to dispatch the meek garrison of swordsmen and guards, seizing the capital building and capturing the head of state, Hans Weimar. With this action, the Rhineland republic is forced to surrender to the Sons of Arminius, and immediately work begins on a railroad to connect the city of Koblenz to Heidelberg. The people of Heidelberg and the surrounding towns eager to get their hands on the fine gemstones and wine from the region. The Department of Defense is assigned with allocating resources of glass and leather appropriately, as well as getting the medicine manufactory up and running once more.

On the Neckar, the first of three new riverboats, powered by steam sail up and down the river, the Governor himself sending it off. He has been in high spirits as of late, especially with the success of the surprise attack on the Rhineland Republic. These steamboats are to be used for trade and the Foreign Affairs Department hopes to one day use them and similar vessels to navigate the Mediterranean and eventually the Atlantic.

The Kingdom of Neo-Sweden

alt__swedish_flag_by_ay_deezy-d30dnus.pn

The country of Neo Sweden rose from the ashes of the Swedish nation that had 300 years ago quickly gained territory and almost as quickly fell apart. Stockholm was hit by the water, and as it receded 200 years later the various militias and soldiers came together under the great great great granddaughter of Queen Estelle, Emilia. She was title High Queen Emilia the First of Neo Sweden, and she reunited the various groups and provinces around the old capital almost only with diplomacy. The armies, numbering 20,000 and about half commited to keeping martial law intact and the citizenship happy, are equipped with various guns found in old strongholds of the original Kingdom of Sweden. The various states and city-states around Neo Sweden are sent offers of peaceful annexation; to reform the greatest Scandinavian nation to have ever existed, in their belief. A trade offer and offer of a defensive pact is sent to New Baltania across the Baltic Sea, and the navy of Sweden is made up of only a single seaworthy ship, all but one of its cannons rusted over and unable to be used. Spy-Diplomats are sent to every one of the reachable Swedish provinces in range of Neo Sweden to attempt to make the governments favor annexation.

The Empire of The Dragon

A brutal winter is predicted in farmer's almanacs in China, an after affect of the brutal nuclear detonations that took place there. The first reports back from the Wu are good, they have offered a beautiful gift. A small sculpture of pure gold in the shape of a dragon, draped in precious silks. With it is an offer that politely accepts the integration into the Empire of the Dragon.

The Neo Mounties

A group of fifteen men ride back into town, their once elegant red uniforms darker, splattered with blood of both friend and enemy. Behind them are three large wagons, all three filled to the brim with rifles of varying power. Some are even military grade, M16A4s and M4s as well as RPG-7s and high powered hunting rifles fill the wagons. However, not all is good for the Neo-Mounties, the group says that the group was larger than they thought, and there were many survivors. An attack could be expected on any of the towns around the fringes of their territory.

The City State

The nomads are killed quickly, many of them seemed to be too sick to put up a fight. Upon inspection of the bodies, large welts and warts dot their skin which is pale from sickness. It would later be discovered that this is a type of Bubonic Plague, and further operations in the area should take place in gear that is safer to be exposed to disease in. A few men suggest scavenging a local CDC facility in the center of Chicago, however others argue it is a cesspool of death and disease. The choice is for the leader of the City State to make.

The Texas Rangers

The battle for West Texas is a long and hard one, both sides sustaining heavy casualties. The West Texans put up a heavy fight, resisting the Rangers at every turn. They are expected to crumble in the coming months (your next post) but not without forcing the Rangers to sustain heavy casualties. Perhaps it is time to research a new doctrine for warfare?

Neo Sweden

The surrounding Swedish states are skeptical about joining the Kingdom of Neo-Sweden, wondering what makes it so much better than their own Kingdoms and Republics. They challenge the Queen to prove to their nations why they might join with them in whatever way she might try.

Some of the strategists of Hanford get a peculiar idea. They proposed that, perhaps, the water north of them in canada might be cleaner and require less resources to purify. The leadership prepares 200 scouts to head up there, all with a travois and rifle, as well as many things to carry water in. They head straight north, unknowingly heading directly into the Neo Mounties territory. It should be noted, they all wear the same uniform, seeming to be a modern adaptation of traditional plains indian clothing. This might give off the impression they aren't just uncivilized raiders.

Meanwhile, In British Columbia

With the new influx of military grade weapons having come in from the siege in Kelowna, the Neo Mounties are stronger than ever. The crime rate has fallen drastically, more due to fear of the now much more intimidating law force. Recruitment is at a high as well, with more and more members joining the force growing in reputation and competence. Soon their numbers almost make up for the lives lost in Kelowna.

BEADLE_RCMP_006.jpg

A garrison of 1000 newly armed Mounties are stationed in the now relatively peaceful city of Kelowna. In Sebastien's home city of Kamloops, an additional 1500 are stationed. The rest patrol around the forests of BC, only Coast Salish and Haida tribes knowing the forest better than them.

Coast Salish and Haida tribes scout out the newcomers from Washington from distant trees and would remain unseen, watching their next move and not interacting directly with them as of now.

A group of miners, chemists, geologists and biologists are sent out east, to the semi legendary tar sands of Alberta, under heavy guard of 500 armed Mounties. Where old oil rigs may still loom, possibly still usable. The Mounties decide the risk of the expedition is worth the potential reward. An abundance of fuel.

The Lost Tribes of Australia.

The scouting party had went on without issue it seemed, though those on horseback had come with prizes, they would turn back from Chicago prepared to regroup with their party. The party on foot, had said that they would be to the north of where they landed, so those on horseback swerved west from Chicago.

Before the men on horseback left Chicago, a note was left instructed to be given to the leader of their encampment, informing them of where they were, and who they were, and where the party was heading. They wrote of the goods they had for offer if they were ever needed, such as medicines and plentiful food. They're instructed that if they are needed, head directly west, until you hit the coast. A map is shown from there.

The scouting party at home, had much more success, very few people had been run into, and it seemed the lands were free for entry. The main cattle drive marched through, preparing to settle on that coast.

Meanwhile, Aaron had ordered the rummaging of the former Melbourne State library to unknown results. He also demanded a huge party of at least 2000 be sent into central Australia, into the more inland areas where it was much more likely to find survivors. This area was also heavily mined for minerals and drilled for oil, as such, it was highly likely that they would find an abundance or resources.

Sikh Confederacy

The Sikh Confederacy was in a brutal war against the Kalat Empire, where the Kalat Empire had more troops and land then the Sikh's. Because of this, the Sikh Confederacy's Chief of Staff, Kabir Gajanan, suggested a defensive stance to start off the war, to inflict deadly casualties upon Kalat troops. Kabir predicted an assault made by Kalat troops, and sure enough, he was right. The Kalat Empire planned to attack along a broad front, to get on the other side of the fortified Indus river. If they could succeed, the Sikh's would have their main defenses gone, and would be doomed in the war.

BATTLEMAP.png

The Battle of the Indus, red arrows mark the opening stages of the battle, blue the stages of the battle as it is developing, purple, the closing stages of the battle, and orange marking any changes to the frontlines.

The 'Battle of the Indus' started with the Kalat 2nd, 3rd, and 4th armies attacking the Sikh 1st, 2nd, and 3rd armies. The Kalat 1st Army was to hold it's position in the meantime. Each army consisted of about 25,000 troops, however the Kalat 3rd army had 30,000, as 5,000 would be assisting in the attack of the Sikh 1st Army. The Sikh 1st Army had the hardest time defending, as it found itself attacked from two sides. The battle between the Sikh 2nd Army and the Kalat 3rd Army ended in a stalemate, neither side gaining little or any ground. The Sikh 3rd Army defended furiously, sending the Kalat 4th Army retreating with heavy casualties.

But the Sikh 1st Army seemed close to collapsing, so the Sikh 2nd and 3rd Armies launched a massive counter-attack. At first the Kalat 3rd Army held strong, but when the weakened Kalat 4th army was forced to retreat, and the Kalat 3rd Army risked being flanked, it too retreated. Meanwhile, the Kalat 1st Army was ordered to attack the Sikh 1st Army, to try to stop the Sikh counter-attack. It achieved minor success, gaining some territory from the battered Sikh 1st Army. In total, the Kalat Empire suffered 27,000 casualties while the Sikh Confederacy took 18,000. Kabir was relieved. He had prevented a massive Kalat assault, and gained territory.

Brothers of Stalingrad

Life goes on in Stalingrad as the people get by barely with what food they have as things appear to be as they always are...except today.

- Location, Abandoned Warehouse somewhere outside of Stalingrad -

10 guards stand watch outside while several Officers consult plans inside including General Kislov's right hand man.. Colonel Chekov.

Chekov places documents on the table sighing "I thank you all for coming to this meeting...you risk your lives by simply coming here. But I know your devotion to the State is above your fear of death." He takes a seat as the other 6 members do so as well reading over the reports.

Councilor Vladimir "Kislov is more unstable now then he ever was..we must act-"

Councilor Smirnov "Act!?...With what army do we possess, Kislov has most of the Officers in his pocket. They fear him, they will not stand with us."

Colonel Chekov "Settle yourself councilor...Captain Spravtsev is with us as are his men in the Capital building. If we take swift action, we can have control of the State before things get out of hand..but if we fail.."

Councilor Vladimir "It'll be a civil war..which this state would likely never recover from."

The group remains silent for a time

Councilor Dmitri "It'll be worse off in Kislov's hands, its our duty."

Councilor Rogov shakes his head

Councilor Kozlovsky "You don't believe in our cause do you Rogov?.."

Councilor Rogov "Its not that I don't, I simply do not think it can be done..I'm a realist Kozlovsky..not a dreamer."

Councilor Katin "Enough, no fighting. We all agree things need to change..Do we not?"

The group nods as they discuss plans and options for several hours. Finally the group disbands

Chekov "Then it is a go..The Operation will begin in 3 months..be prepared.."

The meeting is over without incident. The Farms are half completed, the other sections of land are under work and will be finished soon (2 pages)

The Communications officers for the time being cut off communications to China. They now send a signal southward towards towards Iran and other middle eastern countries in hopes of communicating with a similar faction as themselves. (aka Goldensmoof)

REINO DE NUEVO HABANA

The Infante Fernando wipes his brow as he comes onto the deck of the trade ship, his soldiers standing at attention either side of him. His expedition successful, they have sailed up the Mississippi aboard the Cristo Rey, now just off the coast of Illinois. The ship, of course, is laden with crates of sugar and tobacco, with plenty of cargo space to spare, not to mention the thirty sailors armed with a variety of weapons, from machetes to muskets. They set anchor here, lowering a walkway down onto the shore. The men seek only to trade. The red saltire on gold flaps in the wind up on the mast...

Back in Nuevo Habana, El Rey has seen fit to open a clean hospital for those suffering from the diseases brought by the mainlanders. If all goes well, Nuevo Habana should have a functioning public hospital soon, if only for want of medicines and electricity. ((3 pages))

The Republic of Kuanesh

EX4ZFMx.jpg

600 million people. That was the population of the homeland of the Indonesian empire at the time of the Last War. 600 million prosperous, well fed, wealthy people. 600 million content citizens, living under the benevolent joint rule of the Indonesian and Japanese emperors.

Of these, 450 million died almost instantly in the massive flood. Dead through no fault of their own, but the result of geopolitical machinations whose details have since been lost to time. They drowned, along with their homes, their cities, and their homeland. Most of the remaining 150 million were only slightly luckier, for their lives would be short. The airlocks to the colossal underground cities under the islands were not closed in time, and the flood followed, leaving only certain pockets unharmed. Infighting followed as the once beautiful society collapsed. Mass starvation wreaked havoc, as the underground farms were never meant to sustain such a large population.

From the chaos, only one significant pocket of civilization survived. This was Kuanesh vault, which through tenacity and no small amount of luck had escaped the tunnel collapses and the flooding and won every war which it faced. Through brutal extermination of resistance, it secured for itself everything it needed to be self-sustaining: food and oxygen farms, geothermal energy, and the weaponry required to defend itself and maintain law and order.

1305759231-city-future-underground-scien

Blaming the old empire for the world's destruction, Kuanesh installed a republic, and through a strict set of laws, maintained a stability that only grew over time. Surviving in complete isolation, they developed their own distinct culture, one deeply rooted on civic duty, though also heavily stratified, with the wealthy living far more luxuriously than the poor. German was the language of choice, just as it had been before the war, and the German classics in art, music, and literature were considered essential knowledge for one of good breeding.

As luck would have it, the eventual, inevitable breakdowns coincided with the receding waters above. Slowly but surely, the geothermal plants became less and less effective, and with them the farms. It took about a year to tunnel to the surface once a plan was devised, and it was a much different world than the one that the Kuanese's ancestor's had left. What was left of Jakarta was beautiful, really. A lush rainforest, the streets now rivers, the skyscrapers mountains.

AbandonedCity.jpg

crysis33.jpg

Farther from the coast, however, by the ruins of the old imperial palace, it was a different story. Dry land prevailed rather than swamps, and it was here that Kuanesh built its new capital. On the edges of the old metropolis now sits the new: the city of Garuda, after the mythical bird that has adorned the Indonesian flag for centuries.

The population of the republic, at 1,300,000, yearns to expand: Garuda is brimming at the seams. They have yet to encounter any other societies, believing themselves to be the sole survivors, and in any case would look down on them as barbarians. The last of the geothermal plants power the homes of the wealthy and powerful, while others are forced to find alternative sources, such as solar power. The only remaining oil drilling stations are deep, deep in the tunnels, beyond the influence of the republic and most likely not in working condition.

Traditional sail is used for transport across water, but as of today it has not been used beyond the coast of the Kuanese home island. These ships are not yet armed. On land, the most highly trained soldiers of the republic are armed with AR-15s, which are repaired and supplied with ammunition from the last few munitions factories left in the bunker.

And deep, in the labyrinth of tunnels beneath the region, dark things lurk. Bandits, cultists, and some say worse thrive on the very fringes of society, in the darkness. With a skeleton of the former population underground to guard against them, anything could happen...

Actions

Exploration ships venture out, traveling by sail to Borneo and Sumatra. Their purpose is to locate suitable land for colonies.

Mod Actions

Neo Mounties

Ruins of oil derricks can be found upon close inspection, but most are rusted and collapsed, unusable. The engineers manage to identify one or two that could possibly be restored, if they were given enough time, but the mounties deem caution to be more prudent, at least until judgement is given by a superior. The reason for this is that on many of the derrick ruins, unfamiliar drawings and symbols are found, and in the distance figures have been seen watching the party more than once.

The Lost Tribes

The search of the library turns out something very useful: locations of many of the old Indonesian iron mines in southeastern Australia. Of these, though, most are completely collapsed. The scouting party is able to find one, however, that remains almost completely intact, though it would have to be worked with whatever technology the Aboriginals have on hand. Large metal hangers ring the entrance, and a trained eye would be able to pick them out as former stations for the mining drones that once worked here. About 20 miles north, a similar mine is found, and it seems clear that most of it remains intact, but the front entrance is heavily caved in and will take some serious shifting.

中国共产主义阵营

Hong Kong, 2351

As Xi cheered when contact was made with Stalingrad, immidiatly translator & ambassadors went to work. As Xi offers Stalingrad a trading proposal, having major interest in salvage & minerals from the majestic USSR. In return the Stalingrad brothers could acquire weaponry and luxury resources from Hong Kong. The newly build Wi-Fi tower made clear demands possible, and a request for a defensive pact is also send.

With the connection to the slow, but existing internet. Media comes back to life in the regions of Hong Kong, the Red Army uses old Communist Yugoslavian techniques to propagandize the people for their own benefit. Education is also re-introduced. However, the people do not learn all for the benefit of As Xi.

nexttv.jpg

Meanwhile, the population continues to work on a sterilization cure. The radiation however is low in the regions they are in. The salvaged vessel they found was an old People's republic aircraft carrier. It is only a pity that they have no aircraft to station it on. Major repairs are to be made, and some wouldn't be possible without Stalingard's metals. ((6 pages))

The farms are finished, and the harvests are a mere luxury for the people. Soldiers returning to Hong Kong received word of a Dragon Empire further north from the locals. But are not interested making contact yet. The farms do remove the problem of starvation. However, 20.000 millitants would need to lay down their weapons to make sure the farms remain functional.

The Lost Tribes of Australia.

With the new information, Aaron immediately orders the mining of the leftover iron mines, with the pickaxes and drills they had. Inside the library, they also found maps, noticing their location compared to other locations, they immediately realized the presence to the north. They send two boats to the north, one goes there by heading west from Tasmania, up the coast and into the north, the other would head east, and explore the islands of Indonesia.

Aaron remembered tales of a great empire to the north that had come and conquered Australia. He hoped to find the remnants of these place. As such, he ordered the boat that had gone up the west coast, to continue until they found another coast, and head up that. This would lead them up the coast of China, and eventually Japan.

Aaron had ordered for the men to be heavily armed, the tales told of the 'Empire from the North' was so great that they knew they should be heavily armed.

The men continued adventuring deep into central Australian territory, when they arrive at the sacred land near Uluru. Immediately greeted by several tribes, they bow and tell the tale of the united lost tribes, and what they were doing in the south east. The other tribes agree to join the Lost Tribes, but will not leave their homeland.

A new flag is risen to commemorate the event. It is sewn onto the clothing of all men who leave the territory, including the most recent. Uniform is also given to the newest men leaving the colony. A relatively simple, beige gear, which was copied from images in the library, with the flag sewn on at the arms, and the breast.

alternative_kangaroo_flag2.gif

EDIT:

Another scouting group has come across a large oil well, rusted over, but the equipment there reveals its purpose, and those in knowledge know its purpose. It was reported to Aaron who demanded a full search of the library for info on it, and how to reconstruct it.

The Honshu Republic

bdOPhEP.png

It was truly a barbaric world outside of the islands of Japan. What the scouting vessels had found in Korea was horrific to say the least, but the trade offer is accepted with the regional civilization. Taiwan on the other hand, was a far more interesting tale. The island was split, with the Eastern side seemingly more civilized in terms of reception. The deal for oil in trade of aid is immediately accepted. While shipments of guns make their way to East Taiwan, Honshu explorers arrive en mass, with a single goal; to find the rumored bunkers. What had been found among a pile of documents back in the Honshu bunkers was a map detailing of several other underground safe havens. Safe havens filled with supplies so desperately needed. The same is planned with Korea, although the cannibals would be a problem that would need to be dealt with.

Word that a new power in Asia to the west reaches the Republic via Korean emissaries. They warn of a barbaric and war like state that has consumed another civilization on the coast. Such things did not bode well, but the Republic would hold back barbarians with ease with their superior weaponry.

And finally on foreign affairs, scouting vessels depart for the Philippines, it too rich in a resource that the Republic grasped for. Although it had a minimal numbers of bunkers, it had been a key component in the legendary empire's production. Factories filled with goods from common day items to military hardware would be stored in underground warehouses, safe from the greedy hands of any barbaric natives. On the other hand, large amounts of scrap metal would also be left strewn about, leaving an opportunity to scavenge further. Well armed and supplied,  the explorers arrive...

Factories continue to spring up, and with salvage crews returning with more supplies such as scrap metals, construction hastens. Exploration of the newly drained areas of the former coastal cities continue to reveal signs of the storied Indo-Japanese Empire. Maps and official governmental documents reveal that this empire incorporated most of the eastern part of the continent known as Asia. The "Indo" also referred to a nation known as Indonesia, and evidence pointed to a jointly ruled empire with these two nations.

Geothermal energy plants topside reactivated once more with minimal effort, although only a few were left undamaged. Power is restored only to essential areas such as the more advanced factories.

Contact between Hokkaido and the Republic is established once more. Negotiations begin with the regional rulers. Key proposals include the addition of advanced agriculture to the Hokkaido farms, which were already lacking. This would ease the threat of mass starvation, and the Honshu Republic's mostly united people would serve as further protection from outside forces.

A single trading vessel en route to Taiwan intercepts an aboriginal fishing vessel, its wooden make seemingly devolved compared to the dull shine of the Honshu patrol vessel. Republic sailors look down on the dingy, scanning over the rather heavily armed men.

Brothers of Stalingrad

Reply to China

The Russian State replies to China's message with gratitude, but they make it clear that while trade is a greatly wanted action it will be rather difficult considering the wide range of land between them as well as the fact that it will take not only time for convoys to move between the two Nations but they will be vulnerable to raids and other Factions with and without Military Escort. As such the Russian state is willing to trade Metals and Scrapped Salvage in exchange for Fuel/Oil.

Local News

Councilor Dmitri is imprisoned as he has been suspected of treachery. Security within Stalingrad increases greatly as General Kislov begins to suspect Dmitri isn't the only one.

Shortly after this, action is taken as Colonel Chekov and his men attack the capital building. After a few hours have pasted the smoke clears as troops are deployed throughout Stalingrad to ensure peace and order. Broadcasts are spread throughout city as the citizens are told that a rogue captain turned his men against the state and that Colonel Chekov and his men acted to save General Kislov and regain control. Unfortunately Kislov was killed in the fire fight, but fear not my comrades as the pigs responsible for this treachery have been captured and will be executed.

It was later Discovered that Councilor Rogov betrayed the Council in an attempt to cripple the Coup. After eluding capture from the Council (Which is now in control of the State) He has rallied and fled with his men stealing 4 tanks from the Base

Casualty report from the Coup

6,000 Soldiers are killed many wounded.

1 Tank is destroyed in the battle for the main compound.

4,000 Soldiers fled with Rogov to Moscow along with 4 of the States tanks.

Very few civilian casualties.

The State remains with 40,000 Soldiers

1 Soviet Gunship

4 T-72 Tanks

The Russian State is still awaiting contact with the 5 teams it sent out to map out and scan the area around Stalingrad.

Actions

Soviet Convoys are givin soldiers for escort as they attempt a first ever trade mission with the Chinese keeping Communications going as to Co-ordinate their efforts with the Chinese.

Several teams of Geologist are sent out to survey the grounds around Stalingrad in hopes of finding a resource (Iron,Coal,Uranium ect. ect.)

Local tribesmen of coastal Haida Gwaii and Coast Salish native descend warn the mounties of possible danger ahead, nevertheless, they push on for the good of the true north. An advance camp of thick wooden-stake walls is erected around the two possibly operational oil rigs for defense, quick lean-to shanties built within the walls for housing.

The Haida Gwaii and Coast Salish have an affinity and great talent for quick and efficient work with timber.

The brains of the operations are tasked to make sense of the carvings and symbols on the oil rigs, now surrounded by the protective native-made wall of stakes. Neo Mounties Patrol the perimeter, with their newly found military grade weaponry. Scientists use the precious time they have to attempt getting the oil rigs operational.

They were ready to expect an attack from whoever was watching them from afar, and an operational source of fuel was too great to pass up.
