Ethiopian traders quickly dive into cover, dropping the banner and letting the camels die. One dies, but the people would see that it was a flag after all. The Ethiopians draw their blades and desert eagles. However, they wait for the firing to stop. They scream

"We come in peace, we come in peace!"

Meanwhile, the farmers are getting immature rage upon the crops. Some grow, only some. They fortunatly had collected harvests before, but the Ethiopians had to do the thing that would traumatize them for the rest of their lives. Kill the elderly. The military cried as they shot the volunteers. They didn't want their age to cost the life of their children, but the goverment had no choice but to listen. 1400 people volunteered, and the 300 prisoners got executed right after. People hoard all the food from the market, and prepare for the crisis that they expected. Haile Selassie stands for a challenge.

Empire of the Dragon

The army that was to smash the Wu were sent back to their homes with no blood spilt. The last of the harvest was harvested effectively as a result, but barley any crops were growing for the last harvest before winter. Provincial Commanders are told to stock up a full 1/4 of the harvest, to hopefully have enough food stored to last most of the winter.

The trade caravan and the ambassador's ship enter the Honshu republic's waters, and continue towards the islands under the Empire's peace banner. The Dragon Knights from the recently disbanded army did not return home, but headed towards Xi'An. From there they were scattered throughout the empire, to train peasants and artisans alike in the way of war with spear, bow, and shield. Thanks to the Dragon Knight's and Imperial auxiliary the towns and cities of the empire had a small militia garrison. Their work done, the Imperial auxiliary are also sent home. The Dragon Knights garrison the Empire's provinces, and train the militia further.

The factory was enarly complete, and low grade semi-auto rifles and musters were soon to be produced. The only problem was finding Imperial citizens able enough to manufacture the guns. Five hundred citizens are taught how to manufacture arms by weapon smiths, but it will take time. To help with this, Su'Zu decreed the Imperial Gunnery school of Xi'An was to be built. It was to school citizens in the way of manufacturing and shooting guns, and war engines. In the secluded Imperial Library, the Dragon Prince gifted a book of the siege machines of medieval times to the engineers. He ordered the Gunnery School to find wood workers, artisans, and engineers to build these war machines.

The New Norwegian Kingdom

-Oslo-

The New Norwegian Kingdom agrees to commence trade with the inhabitants of the Bismarck, and will send ships with wood, charcoal and fish regularly in exchange of steel scrap metal and if possible, info on this mysterious nuclear reactor on board.

-Bodø-

The corvette in Oslo, who had now been joined with the merchantile vessel originally headed for Iceland, loaded up with scrap steel and headed for home. Once back at the capital, the Norwegians would start their 2nd attempt at a pressurized chamber for dive repairs, using the stronger steel aquired from trade with the Bismarck. The process of picking and splitting the stronger and better conserved scrap steel from the weaker more rusty one which would be sold on to the people in Bodø. This separating and fusing into better and tougher steel would take 2 months ((1 page)) and the actual construction of a new pressure chamber of the steel would take another two months ((1 page)). Another 1 year ((6 pages)) project is also started, the construction of a coal generator plant, which would be burning the area's abundance of wood and thus also charcoal and supplying the Kingdom with power.

Kingdom of Ethiopia

The firefight halts, and the armed men of the traders have regret what they have done. They drop their weapons and run to the two bodies laying in the sand. The other 4 come out, holstering their desert eagles as they look in fear. They are calmed, and apoligies are made in all kinds of languages. Like Ethiopians don't speak African...

They are invited to the tribal village, from up close it doesn't seem tribal at all. Several stone ruins are habited with several tents nearby, remnants of candles can be seen, and the leader sits in the most intact building. The traders received gold as an apoligy, and negotiations happened.

The Nakhal Tribe would be Ethiopia's allies, if Haile Selassie can ensure that they would see no war no longer. They are offered a position next to Addis Ababa, but the leader has its doubts of moving north. Meanwhile, they show remnants of a map showing the route to their village and to Ethiopia. They tell tales of the Zulu, massacring many on their path against other tribes. The Ethiopians became scared, knowing that a bloodbath was destroying African harmony right under their nose.

2 of the 4 traders will continue onwards to the Zulu, and hopefully arrange peaceful negotiations. The other 2 traders will bring the gold and the carriage full of lumber along with several virgins to Ethiopia. These virgins claimed to be healthy, and are the daughters of the tribe leader. The traders think that a certain brown pipe of Haile Selassie would be interesting to explore a certain cave of these women. As both sides apart, the decision wether to move the Nakhal to Ethiopia or to stay in these warzones.. is up to the gods ((mods)).

Back in Ethiopia, the goverment are doing crazy attempts to make a certain machine. The people looked confused how the workers place a line of cauldrons with tubes and stacks of grain & yeast nearby. Some are angered by the waste of the food, but the people do not know it was from the first harvest.. not the fifth. Helassie knew what he was doing, it felt right. Only he was scared that people would tempt to drink it, which is not its purpose nor allowed by the islam.. Helassie was afcourse talking about.. Alchohol.

Rationing is implented in Ethiopia, and the goverment starts to collect palm leafs and other eatable things for the upcoming crisis. The people stop doing hard work to save themselves from fast starvation. It is a time game Helassie is playing.. But its necessary for the survival.

The Zulu

Shaka quietly reads over the recent reply from the powerful Zulu tribe from within his war hut. Such a offer could not be passed up. However the winter approached and worried thoughts trouble the chieftan of how low the tempatures would drop if he were to send Zulu forces over to fight within the ruins of the city. The only solution would be to equip his warriors with extra layering of clothes for any harsh weather that happened to fall upon them. The chieftan quickly sends word to his senior izinduna to ready the warriors.

By dawn the war horns were sounded and the selected warriors quickly rose and fell into line. The chieftan had gifted the organized group of warriors the name of The Kuquala Corps. It consisted of 18,000 Impi organized into several regiments. Their primary weaponry being Spears, shields, and some rifles scavenged from the ruins during scouting missions. With haste the Corps was given a blessing by the chieftain Shaka before beginning their march to Pretoria assist the local tribe in taking control of the once majestic city.

zuluwarriors.jpg

Meanwhile back within the heart of the Zulu, farmers begin collecting their crops with haste before the winter cold falls upon them. Local Zulu people begin seeking their eyes on the coastline. With many scrap iron being taken from the old docks, the people of the Zulu seek to build a docks of their own for new means of acquiring food by fishing and possibly sailing out in search of what remained of any islands around Africa.

With the recent great successes of exploration, another small regiment of 400 Impi is sent to the famous mountain of Thabana Ntlenyana in search of anything they could possibly find after hearing rumors of ancient ruins remaining there prior to the Last War.

REINO DE NUEVA HABANA

The food shortage was.... unexpected. However, a plan has been formulated by the nobles of Nueva Habana which will benefit the state either way. All young men who currently work the sugarcane, tobacco, and cotton plantations are promised all the land they can farm themselves in the new territory of San Fernando. They will be sent with only the most basic of food supplies along with tools for menial farming. If they can make it for themselves, the land is theirs to farm and own and the settlement grows. If they die, so be it, but they will not be a drain on the resources of Nueva Habana.

There is good news in Cuba, however. The four old frigates have been refitted with cannon and sail, their hulls fully fixed. One of the four is sent to Texas as per the territorial agreement. The rest of the navy's ships are ordered to put off patrols and such to go full-time fishing.

Rations are prioritized for those who sign up for the official army in order to ensure that training and such continues according to schedule. ((4 pages remaining))

The plantations are left abandoned for the winter as snows begin to fall on Cuba, and all peasants who do not opt to settle in San Fernando are to be put on fishing duty. The hospital is left running due to the coal supply traded with the northerners, and for the most part, winter is being spent planning for the spring.

Hanford

The failure of the farms was an issue. Though unexpected, Hanford is in a fairly decent spot to handle it. The government takes 1/5th of the food each vendor is selling with a promise to return an equal amount once the shortage ends. The rest is left with the vendors to sell or give as they see fit. They also increase their governmental fishing on the river that goes right through their city, the large Columbia river, nearly doubling it. While not the best time of year for fish, they can be expected to get an OK amount. As well as this, the government would send out 1000 men to nearby forests to hunt for wild game. With the stockpile taken by the government and the extra food generated by the extra fishing and hunting, Hanford hopes to bypass most, if not all, the starvation issues.

The Neo Mounties

The battle of the Rigs

dhm1760.jpg

It was a bloody fight, blood coated the forests and prairies of post apololyptic Alberta. The identity was still unknown and still savage and ruthless, 500 mounties are lost in the initial flanking.

Still, with a remaining 2000 mounties now armed with more basic pistols, muskets and occasionally what remains of the military grade hardware, they fight on, with the aid of the Travois from Hanford.

They were the soldiers of the north, they knew hardship and death, and while these wild savages had fierceness and determination, the Mounties had organization, wit and a stiff upper lip.

The Albertans are finally driven off, though it is no profitable victory.

A total 1200 dead armed Mounties.

One of the oil rigs appears to have been damaged in the fight, assessment taking place now.

Some specialists killed in the fight, progress to reverse engineer and restore the rigs will be slower now.

All surviving mounties salvage all the weapons and ammo they can from the dead and wall up in the fort, food is starting to become a shortage and some men are sent out to hunt.

Back in Kamloops, Deputy commanders of the Mountie order assertively ask their allies in Hanford to send a full force of no less than 2000 men to finally flush out whatever remains of the albertan savages.

Hanford

War. Something not unknown to the men of Hanford. After receiving the Mounties call for aid, the decision is more or less consenual. Nothing would be heard from Hanford for a few days, until 3 long and uniform lines of Hanford Travois soldiers appear marching into where the battle is taking place. Each are armed with rifles and sufficient ammo, with stone tomahakws for close-ranged battle. Their uniforms would be modern adaptations of traditional Cherokee war outfits. The travois soldiers would attack the Albertan savages to flush them out and destroy them.

The 500 sent to search for a dam return to Hanford. They report that while most every dam is beyond repair, one would be repairable. They also brought back a sign that was readable near the dam, it reading Grand Coulee Dam. Despite the food shortages, teams are almost instantly sent out to begin repairs. It is expected to take quite a while, however. ((6 pages. Result OK'd by Sneaky and witnessed by all in skype chat))

NEO MOUNTIES

With campaigns east in Alberta and more to come, the neo mounties find themselves needing more men in their ranks to protect the civilians in British Columbia, and further their campaigns in the western Americas for resources. They begin massive recruitment sprees.

MacIvor02.jpg

Meanwhile, A scouting party of 200 as well as some individuals with mining know how are sent up north, into the ruins of Pheonix and Sullivan mine, within the borders of BC. There they assess and begin to set up some fairly primitive operations to begin mining iron and producing steel for weapons and other uses.

The army in Alberta begins to set up a fortified town around the Oil rigs, scientists and specialists live in the center with thick wooden walls surrounding the treasured pieces of Machinery. 1000 surviving mounties guard the walls, and they call upon 500 Hadford Travois to guard with them.

The newly formed town on the conquered land is dubbed The Red Plains.

The Texas Rangers

The farm failure was a big concern for Jacob, the farmers hold a council saying livestock is going to have to be a valuable source of food for the people. Jacob also agrees that this new frigate will be equipped with fishing nets and a trained fishing crew and captain will be sent out to fish this ship should be able to bring in a higher catch and hopefully stop the death toll from rising.

The training continues for the troops, training mostly with swords, spears and bows. They all know the siege of this city will be big but it will be very valuable later on.

Medicine and sickness was another issue, Jacob orders his doctors to look into ways of containing  sickness and stopping it at its source.

The Federal Republic of Arminius

As the borders to the North, East, and West are secured, small troop movements begin further into the Swiss Alps, harsh winter weather slowing the advancements. Since these movements are nothing but scouting missions, they make slow progress to avoid too much attrition. Several banners are placed in the new Swiss territory and makeshift wooden posts are constructed. As winter begins to come down like a hammer on the German territories, a small settlement, "Hornshof," is established on the frontier. Several survivalists move to the settlement, eager for the opportunity of staying there for the winter and then moving into the lush south in the spring.

Rather than force civilians to survive on their own through the winter, teams of fifty are assigned to large portions of railroads connecting the major cities in the Republic. Each will assure that at all times the tracks are clear so trade and food transportation can continue. In the meantime, textile factories in the Rhineland work furiously on coats and furs to keep the people of the Republic warm. However, food is beginning to become a problem. As the rivers freeze over, only so much fish and meat will feed the citizens of the Republic. With the crop yield so low, alternative means must be taken. Regiments are organized and parties are sent to former territories of the Old Empire. They are told to put any towns that do not give up 1/3 of their food supply to the sword and burn it. The territory will then be claimed in the name of the Republic once Spring comes around.

The Brothers of Stalingrad

As the armies begin to engage and communications work well, a massive cloud of darkness rolls over the city of Moscow and surrounding area. Suddenly, winds whip up, reaching speeds of almost thirty miles an hour. Snow comes down in torrents as the fighting continues. Channels of communications on both sides all but lost. The regimental strength of each army will be tested. As the fighting continues, dozens of men dying from freezing to death, the Brothers of Stalingrad seem to have the upper hand. In the city, General Rogov looks out over the storm from the ruins of the Kremlin. In a fury, he sends out his tanks. A tragic mistake. The tanks are stopped in their tracks by the thick snow, rendered useless. The time is right for a new offensive, however organizing the troops will be a challenge.

The Neo Mounties AND The Dwellers of Hanford

As the first groups of men begin to establish a settlement in Alberta, they realize that even more men are moving through. A massive banner can be seen in the distance, an unmeasurable line of men looming in the distance. Massive braziers of fire rise smoke into the sky. However, something is different about these men, they were what seemed to be white uniforms. Thick fur caps on their heads, most are well armed with muskets which seem to have been produced on a factory line. As group of men ride out on horses, approaching the settlement. They say there are with The Federation of Alaska, and they have laid claim to these oil fields. The army they had faced was their slaves, and they suggest surrender to the Federation now before the settlement is destroyed.

Global Events

As winter sets in in the Northern Hemisphere, huge ice storms begin in Europe. Entire seas freeze over. The Baltic, fringes of the Mediterranean and North Seas, and others begin to freeze, making ship movements near impossible without steel icebreaking ships. In America, the North begins to see massive snow storms, burying some areas in almost two feet of snow. In the Southeastern United States, a strand of Bubonic Plague becomes common among the factions in the area. Worry and panic would soon reach Texas and Cuba. In Australia, a massive earthquake, almost 6.8, rocks the areas just north of Melbourne, one of the largest ever recorded there. It's affects felt as far away as Gaurda. Speaking of Indonesia, the Japanese and Indonesians begin to feel a slight change in the air, a typhoon is coming. A big one.

The Republic of Kuanesh

EX4ZFMx.jpg

Several colonies are established on the north coast of Australia, following the rediscovery of iron and coal deposits. Mining equipment is shipped from Garuda to the sites, but extraction is delayed when several shafts cave in, as a result of the earthquake. Plans to refine steel in the future are underway.

In New Guinea, the colonists are able to find a passable way down into the old Indonesian underground in the area. There, they set up generators for light in several areas of the unpowered bunker city, and begin preparing to continue the copper and gold mining operations.

On the surface, a scout frigate notices smoke rising in the distance while in the area of west New Guinea. They sail straight for it, the flag of the republic flying proudly. ((Hex, we can deal with this in PMs.))

p007.jpg

The weather appears ominous. It is said a great storm is approaching, which greatly disturbs the Kuanese population: they have not dealt with a typhoon in 300 years. The government, taking no chances, issues a storm warning to the entire republic. Flood drills are held regularly, sensitive equipment is protected, and citizens are instructed in how best to protect their homes. It is recommended that ships stay in harbor for the time being.

The Texas Rangers

Jacob caught word of this Plague, he rounded up all the troops he could and gave them the remaining supply of gas mask, and protective suits and proceed to kill all the infected people with the plague, until a cure was found all this people would be put out of their misère and be killed then their bodies would be burned to hopefully stop the spreading of this disease, all trade is currently shut off with Cuba and the Princess is kept safe having access to all the available medicine, most medicine is diverted to the military and the hospitals in an attempt to stop the disease. All rats are exterminated and people are encouraged to avoid all infected people and any signs of infection should be reported. As this people would be quarantined at first, and if they proved to extremely harmful to the nation then they would be killed.
