Reminder On Server Policy

G'day folks, Cappy here. It's come to the attention of the staff that there has been an amount of controversy surrounding particular gory or gruesome RP posts. We would like to take this opportunity to remind you of our server policy on this subject. The announcement post for these policies was made by Danny over a year ago, so for ease of accessibility I'll quote them here.

 

Hey there guys - this is a thread that it is extremely important you read, and take heed of.

The staff have noticed, and have been notified lately of some players performing acts that are deemed inappropriate for the server. We have never really created rules surrounding some of these acts in particular, and many players still see them as acceptable. Therefore, from this point on the following rules are in place and will be strictly enforced:

• Prostitution of any kind is not permitted; this includes brothels or street prostitution.
• Orgies are not permitted on the server.
• The baring of any piece of genitalia (incl. breasts) is not permitted.
• Extreme graphical violence is not permitted, moderate is (extreme graphical violence would be the type of violence shown in a film such as Saw or Final Destination).
• Inappropriate touching or feeling even when clothed is not permitted.
• Any strong sexual references or innuendoes are not permitted.
• Any form of bestiality, necrophilia or paedophilia is not permitted.

In particular I would like to draw your attention to the bolded entry. Situations potentially violating this have only begun to spring up recently (as far as I am aware), so this is a good opportunity to refresh your memories. We wish to keep violence and other kinds of graphical content on our server and forums to a PG-13 level. Please note that while polite, leaving a disclaimer at the top of your post that it may be inappropriate for some audiences does not excuse you from these policies.

Nothing is changing, this is just a reminder of what our policy is.

Fading to black and overly intimate RP is not permitted within chat radius of the spawn and the village around it. This is for two reasons. The first is because the spawn is the first impression new players get of the server, and we do not want it to be player x getting down with player y. The second being the spawn is usually a place where people RP, and they don't need to be spammed with you and your significant other getting frisky. Be polite and think of other players.

There are multiple PG-13 movies with brothels in them, more so with prostitutes. Same thing with touching (goosing/feeling etc.), played for comedy you can easily slip it into PG-13.

Regardless, we don't want it on our server. The general level we want to keep things to is PG-13 but there will be exceptions as we decide what we do and do not want role-played.

Just do it in Skype or something. Rules are rules, why bother. Some people or more sensitive than others and we should just respect that. I don't really care, but some people do.

My plan to make Kalenz a beautiful prostitute has been stifled. What else will I do with my RP (It isn't like there are millions of other things to RP)?

Why do you limit me so much Cappy (I mean, you stopped me from doing like 3 things out of 6 million things)? All he wants to do is be as pretty as the women he sees on TV!

 

Mild trolling aside, the point is guys— LotC is a free service. You're allowed to play on LotC, it isn't a right but rather a privilege (a privilege given so long as you obey the rules as the GMs and Admins want a working server with a good population).

 

It isn't that hard to obey the very few rules and so long as you obey them, LotC doesn't need to deal with lawsuits and you can all keep having fun?
