Telanir 6975 Popular Post Share Posted March 5, 2014 Greetings Lord of the Craft, There is no easy way to say it, but first I would like to express my gratitude to the community and staff. The year of 2013 has been a year of hardships and progress, and while we have had our slip ups we always rose through turmoil together, only to emerge more powerful and united than before. I initially became a junior technician during a time of strife for the Technical Team early in the year, Alectriciti had recently left, and Dgco had to care for his sick mother and tend to the server at the same time. Plugins were breaking down and progress was stale, it was a great time for me to learn Java and simultaneously help out a server I had already been on for so long. I decided it was time to move on after spending time with the newbies as a Guide, and perhaps there were greater things to be achieved, I was optimistic. The months went by and it was of course difficult managing the technical aspects, Dgco eventually slipped away due to life and it was left to me to take care. Occasionally it’d get incredulously confusing, I remember making a post about default PvP a while back after getting the support and go-ahead from a few big A’s and GM’s. Oh those were fun times, it was ridiculously confusing, but definitely enlightening, I had never been subject to such circumstances in life, you learn a lot from these things. When the Oren exodus had occurred the stress was incredible, and strangely enough it was also an amazing time when working together the GM’s who were available at the time, we really got to see each other as people, and not just moderators. As any moderator I’d expect, I readily admit I made mistakes, but I believe it is for the best, I wouldn’t have had the year of 2013 and beginning of 2014 any other way. I’m glad I stuck around for so long, and this isn’t to say that I haven’t before had feelings of leaving, but it was the incredible support of the community that'd make me stay. While I never really voiced it, even the few PM’s that I got saying thanks, they mattered the most. And I truly believe that everyone should take it to heart, because realize that the moderation that spend their free time by giving to you, a roleplay medium sky high above any other on our platform, and supporting order. But what is there to be gained for a moderator? In fact very little, but what makes it worth it is the support and respect of the playerbase. The few compliments here and there about how nicely you handled a situation, or how this event was orchestrated well. It is the warmth and friendship from the community that staff desires most, because without your support as a community there can be no motivation to see the server prosper and succeed. Because indeed, the best moderator you can get without your trust and respect is one that is cold-hearted, unresponsive, and robotic in their manners. While there are always moments when it is convenient to prophesize the demise of The Lord of the Craft, always look to the skies and be optimistic, our past as a server is colourful, enduring, and vibrant, but tumultuous at times too. Yet remember that as long as our determined administrators are around to make things happen, the server may falter or trip, but it will never fail to get up and continue to survive and prosper. We have endured and survived numerous servers rising up in competition, exoduses, mass-scale crashes, and pain together as a community, and yet look at us, here we still stand. With an unambiguous thanks and heartfelt gratitude to the staff and community I have had the honor to work with and for, I would like to conclude this post by tying up some loose ends and resolving possible discrepancies. With things going as well as I have described them, I figure I owe you guys an explanation of my leave. With myself starting up a business with a friend, as well as school beginning to pick up with my accelerated courses, I can’t afford the same dedication and focus on Lord of the Craft that you guys deserve. As a result, for the health of us all I make a preemptive leave so that one more active can prepare for the future of LotC, and would be around to foresee that 4.0 does indeed fulfill all of your expectations. I still very much enjoy the prospect of assisting the staff and Technical Team in foreseeing future changes and implementations, so I will be sticking around, but as expected, I will not be around that often. Now clearing up what most of you might view to be the most important. Nexus-Core is undoubtedly a massive project (relatively, 17000 lines of code), measuring at half a MB of pure source code and text, but it is actually nearing completion, and I can still be around to give support and explanation. The source code and rights of my plugins I leave with the LotC Technical Staff, with the plugin arguably nearing completion we should still be on time for the arrival of 4.0 with our plugins and developments. I am proud of the code I have written, and it is a difficult decision to make it available that way but it is the right choice. Perhaps if during the summer the opportunity still presents itself, I might make a reappearance. Make no mistake though, we have an excellent and prepared Technical Team that is stronger than ever before, and I have no doubt that they have the fortitude and prowess to bring us to greater heights. Remember to stay supporting of them guys, coding can be a very frustrating venture, and in order to retain their sanity I call upon you guys to be lenient in your criticisms and lend them your support and perhaps, friendly advice. So thank you guys, for supporting me, and on the other hand tolerating me. Without your respect and trust I wouldn’t have had a run this long, and most certainly would have succumbed to the miniscule arguments and little details long ago, this community is truly the closest thing I’ve ever come across that could count much like a second family. Thank you.I hereby resign as Team Leader of the Technical Team.Sincerely, with gratitude and appreciation, Former Technical Team Leader, Telanir.
