The Invention Of Flight

It all began on a normal sunny day within Abresi. Everyone was going about their business, with some random conflict about arresting a man happening near the guard house. Faiz Kharadeen watches the conflict, sighing then looks off into the distance, spotting something atop the treb upon the wall... He climbed the steps and approached the treb, realizing that it was Richard who was sitting atop the treb!

Faiz began a conversation with Richard, his fun halfling buddy, wondering what he was doing. Richard replied with saying he was waiting for this ride to commence. Faiz nodded, wanting to help his friend out.

"Alright Richard, I shall commence the ride for you. Hold on tight"

"Yay! Sen' meh to Conclave!"

Faiz nods, adjusting the counter weights. He then goes by the release pin, ready to pull it but then stops himself. "Wait a minute.."

"Wha'?", replies Richard confusingly. Faiz then removes his helmet and hands it to him "Safety first!"

Richard smiles, strapping on the helmet "Alrig'! Lunch meh!"

Faiz nods, going to the pin but once more hesitates on pulling it. "Hold on.." he then turns towards the crowd, shouting as he announces whats going on.

"Citizens of Abresi! Send your salutes to this fellow halfling! He shall be the first to fly towards the conclave through trebuchet powered transportation!" Faiz shouts, the citizens all now watching the halfling.

"I be the best!" shouts Richard, a bit too excited

Faiz once more gets near the pin, putting his hand upon it. He shouts once more towards the crowd "This is one small step for halflings... One giant leap for anthos!" he then looks up at Richard "Goodluck sir Richard! May your travels be safe!" Richard replies "Ge'bye Face Catman! I'll sen' ya a post car'!"

Faiz then pulls the pin, sending the halfling flying through the air.  His yelps of joy being heard before fading off.. "WHHEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! " Faiz waves to the flying Richard, shedding a tear for his major accomplishment "That halfling... Is so brave.." he sniffles.

Richard flies through the sky, flapping his hands like a bird. He begins doing backflips and twists while flying towards conclave, everyone he flies over staring up at him. (Post your reactions!!) Richard waves to all the people below him, then continues flying away. Richard soon flies over the Conclave, but realizes he doesn't know how to brake. He then alters his course, and slams into the giant tree inn within Conclave. He recovers, the helmet taking most of the damage. The safety of a iron helmet lives up to its name!

Richard has successfully flown through the sky and made it safely to Conclave. He is the first halfling to test this new flying device.. Nay, he may be the first being ever within Anthos! (Or not.)

All glory to the halfings! And Faiz Kharadeen.

All of a sudden, high above the sky of Abresi, a brilliant flash of light was seen descending towards the city. It appeared to be a meteor, barreling down towards the earth. Those who were at the launch would no doubt observe it and flee the scene as it rapidly closed in on the location. All of fifty-three seconds later the meteor collided with the device, smashing it to smithereens. Embers from the explosion carried through the sky before, rather by chance, landing upon the designs for the curious device and the helmet.

As Faiz collides with the tree, rather unfortunately, it seems the helmet is not as hard as he believes. It cracks in two and blood spews forth from the gap, leaving the halfling regrettably on a trip back to the cloud temple.

In truth he had never flown to the Conclave, but rather no more than 100 feet from Abresi. Evidently the halfling had made a mistake thinking he had made it to his destination— A catapault could never throw anyone, even a halfling, that far.

Alas, it seemed that the denizens of Anthos were not meant to fly.

((Flight, for all its fantastic possibilities, is not possible on LotC— Particularly given the mechanical standard which makes it impossible without lore [which would not likely be passed]. I apologise for any inconvenience caused and if you believe me wrong, feel free to PM me on the forums or any other LM)).

Billy would make a few remarks about witchcraft, before forgetting about it altogether and continuing to tend his crops.

(The halfling's name is Richard, not Faiz. Faiz is a human.)

As the meteor descends, it poofs out of existence, the speed it traveled in causes it to disintegrate within the atmosphere. The normal trebuchet still sits within its spot. The halfling Richard still collides through the large bundle of leaves, cushioning his fall. Since the giant inn tree is big, it contains many leaves. The helmet is a sallet, giving his face more protection, with a nice soft leather padding within. It seems the halfling did after all fly through the sky with just minor bruising.
