As the meteor descends, it poofs out of existence, the speed it traveled in causes it to disintegrate within the atmosphere. The normal trebuchet still sits within its spot.The halfling Richard still collides through the large bundle of leaves, cushioning his fall. Since the giant inn tree is big, it contains many leaves. The helmet is a sallet, giving his face more protection, with a nice soft leather padding within. It seems the halfling did after all fly through the sky with just minor bruising.

Plot twist. The pigeons were Richards long released pets that he saved and raised when they were all babies. The pigeons fly with Richard through the sky, helping him control his speed
